6-2 bench. I'd have preferred to see Butler on the bench, but I suppose Scannell covers more positions with that split.

    From the team announcement article.

On the injury front, Peter O’Mahony didn’t train fully this week due to a knock.

Thaakir Abrahams and Jack O’Donoghue returned to training this week and are working their way back to full fitness.

Billy Burns was unavailable due to a shoulder injury.

Butler was subbed off last week due to an injury ad while not mentioned as being injured I wonder is that part of the reason for his omission

Don't think this is a foregone conclusion at all, even with a strong team like that.

I think aside from POM and probably John Ryan to the bench, that'll be the 23 that will play in France.

I think it's going to be a shootout. The optimist in me hopes that we can't possibly lose all 6 interpros this season.

Gavin vs Farrell is an interesting matchup.

i would never think it is a forgone conclusion, but business end of the season, we perform now, or just wait for Donk to rebuild us.

I think, he's referring to Connacht when he says "we'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,290 ✭✭✭50HX

Great to see Casey back along with Klyen on the bench...obviously minutes in mind for La R or maybe he'll be kept in reserve for that game as well

Touch disappointed that POM isn't there esp away from home.

Are we looking at O connor at 15 for La R game with daly& haley out.

Abrahams prob doesn't make the squad nxt weekend either I would imagine

Do we have any update on Haley's injury / timeline to recovery etc? He was well out of form this season, but it'd be great to get him back.

I think he had ankle surgery after the Northampton game in January. Probably very likely out for the rest of the season.

With that being said, O’Connor has gotten good exposure this year. Still developing of course, but I think he’s shown potential to be the long term 15 for the club.

I have a spare ticket to the match tomorrow if any Munster fans want it, I'll gladly give it away for free (or a thousand euros to a connacht fan) (Adult, unreserved seating)

PM me if you want it

Absolutely massive game tomorrow for both teams.

The URC is an incredibly entertaining league to follow. Since it was formed, every single year has seen so much at stake up to the very end of the regular season, and then really dramatic knockout stages.

Ulster winning tonight means they will overtake Munster unless we win tomorrow, as will Connacht if they get 5 points and deny us a LBP

They only need to get 4 points and deny you a LBP to go ahead. If they just win by 7 they'll still go ahead actually as they'll have marginally better PD. It is super tight.

After tonight's games, munster down to 9th..

Tomorrow, we need to siht or get off the pot.

Big occasion for both teams, should be a cracker.

Connacht will be out for blood today, a real chance for them to make it to the top 8, big game needed for munster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,558 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

Yes a real test for Munster, just what they need ahead of La Rochelle game. Won't be easy this one, but on paper we have the slightly better team!

Absolutely p*ssing it down in Castlebar this afternoon. Rain predicted to stop by 2pm but the pitch will be sodden. Going to be a greasy ball. Multiple scrums predicted for this one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,416 ✭✭✭letowski

I think that’s a hugely positive result for the lads up in Castlebar. Given we were down to 14 for most of the game and then 13 at two separate stages as well, it will be good for the spirit in the camp for the trip to France next week. A lot of the returning international and injured players played really well.

Only downside is Nankivell is going to be suspended. Probably Rory Scannell will have to come back into the side now again, not ideal opposite Danty. Maybe if Abrahams is fit SOB could play 12.

Didn't really see the game but that's a terrific result, BP win away from home and down to 13 for 20 mins and to 14 for 20 minutes and playing into the wind in the second half

I did think the neck roll should have cancelled out their 2nd try but in the end, it didn't matter.

    Connacht we're God awful terrible.

Hansen was the bright light running the backline for them. Super 50:22 from him

Would have fancied a cut at LaR nxt week once we were anywhere near fully stacked but Nanks out its a non runner now.

He's key to us defensively in midfield.

Can't argue with the red card or the yellows for that matter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

if Leinster do us a favour today. 4th and a home QF is achievable imo with our remaining games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭niallm77

Sharks will get TBP win now. Munster likely to be 5th unless the Bulls have a poor run in, which is possible. Bulls could lose to Munster and Glasgow which brings 4th into view

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 31,700 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

LAR are really not good. They'll justifiably be favourites but munster definitely have a shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,470 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

La Rochelle are a fading force. They know one way to play and if you can stop them gaining momentum with their carrying then you're a good part of the way along to beating them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,652 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

Great, leinster fans coming in saying how easy it should be for munster.

shag off lads. Leinster are playing the sharks now, shouldn't ye be watching.

we get some of our injured players back maybe.

Nanks red card is rescinded (slight possibility) then added to the above. better than maybe.

    https://www.munsterrugby.ie/2025/03/29/application-for-pairc-ui-chaoimh-epcr-fixture-approved/

Munster Rugby can confirm that GAA Central Council have approved in principle the province’s application to host one EPCR Pool fixture at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in December 2025, if the province qualifies for next season’s Investec Champions Cup.

There is a huge battle for the eight URC Champions Cup places with 15 sides vying for eight spots.

There are four huge games remaining this season with Munster, at the time of writing, in fifth place in the URC table.

Both previous Munster Rugby games at Páirc Uí Chaoimh were completely sold-out with attendances of over 40,000.

The 41,400 attendance for the Munster v South Africa A game in November 2022 was a record crowd for rugby in the province.

For operational reasons, the application for the possible use of Páirc Uí Chaoimh was completed this month with approval granted in principle on Saturday, 29th March.

Should an EPCR pool game be staged in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Munster Rugby will advise on the number and blend of URC / EPCR games to be played in Thomond Park and Virgin Media Park next season.

Full details regarding Season Tickets for 2025/26 will also be communicated once the renewal period for MRSC members and Season Ticket holders opens in the coming weeks.
