    Nice one!

Hagglezon would be the one I'd go to firstly, most times, so glad it's getting IE pricing :)

Also, that 4k firestick is tempting me now!

I just want it to have it! I have so many other ways of watching TV, I don't really need it :D

They're always shite - regardless of region.

You're more likely to pick up bargains outside of these artificial sale periods.

I agree it’s always a build up save my money and then meh on the days.

I suppose I thought they were holding back some big name brands even some of their own stuff (blink doorbell etc) but nothing lots of Chinese stuff and clothes 🤔

Update: Bought the 6 in 1 dock from Amazon UK for €24 today for delivery tomorrow in their Spring Sale, still €40 on the Amazon IE!

Also bought a Meta 3 docking station on Amazon IE with other stuff to use up the €10 off €50 and delivery is April 2nd, wtf!

Looking through the groceries on amazon.ie, most of them are German!!

Probably cause EU importing is free I guess, unlike the UK.

Probably because they ship from their .DE warehouse as some of the delivery dates are mad for a local delivery.

Ordered stuff from UK on Monday for delivery Wednesday worth €9, same from .IE was €22.50 with delivery on April 2-4.

So disappointed with Amazon.ie. Switched my prime and regretting it now. So many items not available here or don't appear with search function. Yet can be shipped from UK site.

If you look at the deals on hotukdeals.com or the "spring deals" it's rare to see anything cheaper on the .ie site unless it's something significantly marked up. So far the lower threshold for free delivery is what's tempting. Still haven't found anything I need that to get the tenner off €50

    Here's a bad example

    Xiaomi Redmi A3 Midnight Black-Smartphone-3+64GB,MediaTek Helio G36,5000mAh(typ) battery,AI dual camera system,Smooth 6.71“90 Hz Display

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Midnight-Black-Smartphone-3-Display%2525EF%2525BC%252588UK-Warranty%2525EF%2525BC%252589/dp/B0CWS7CYKF?tag=pepperukegc3-21&ascsubtag=ppr-uk-2818564849&th=1 -38% £50.22 (1 in stock) ( Green is £59.99 BLUE IS £79.94) Delivery Saturday, 29 March

Amazon.ie €94.30 - save a tenner with code (1 in stock - the same one ??) Green one is €88.71 Delivery Friday, 28 March

    https://www.xiaomi.ie/redmi-a3/ €69.00 was €99.00 Delivery on Thursday 27, March 2025

I did find one thing that was cheaper on .ie if you have a need to cut fibrous cement.

    https://www.amazon.ie/Bosch-2608644121-Expert-Circular-Blade/dp/B00SJ8QI92?ref=dlx_sprin_dg_dcl_B00SJ8QI92_dt_sl7_4b_pi&pf_rd_r=BZJ7D2FN0DCZ3VT62KEJ&pf_rd_p=2f427264-2d99-4d42-964d-7eb5784c3a4b €50.05 ( and a tenner off)

    It's £47.65 on the UK site = €57.15

Anyone else have the issue the promo button isnt working on Amazon.ie?

    image.png

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,025 ✭✭✭wassie

Yep - its caused by browser security settings. I used a different browser with less restrictive settings and it worked no problem.

I ordered a 10 TB hard drive on amazon.ie and they delivered a clear nail polish instead!!!

PS: I jest, I knew what I was getting into. The listing was messed up - the picture and the price was that of a nail polish, but the title read 10 TB hard drive - So I ordered it just to see - and yeah, it was the nail polish.

Jeff Bloody Bezos etc :D :D

I had issues with Firefox - but thats because I make use of the enhanced privacy settings on FF.

When I occasionally have issues with a website, I use Edge browser with default settings.

Again its not the browser itself, but rather the privacy/security settings in the browser.

I ordered an item from Amazon.ie in one colour, but around 2 hours later the person who wanted it changed their mind for a different colour. It was around €8 cheaper than .co.uk.

No problem, I thought. Something similar happened me before on .co.uk and the cancellation was painless as it was not yet dispatched.

It sat for 2 days in "we're cancelling your order" status. I ordered the correct colour near the end of day 2 as the person needed the item. Then within 3 hours the new item dispatched, along with the unwanted one - with a message "cancellation failed".

Now I'm not sure if this is a .ie thing but on .co.uk they seem a lot quicker to act on these types of issues.

Yes, I know I should have waited to re-order until the cancellation either succeeded or failed but the person needed the item soon. Also, I can't just refuse delivery for the unwanted one as they're arriving in the same package. I'll have to do a return @ €3.99.

It might be useful info to someone.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002VVI53A?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title …. 4 Disc Box Set of PiL for €13.99 … not bad.

That's excellent value. If you like that era PIL, "Metal Box In Dub" is worth checking out - it's a reworking by Jah Wobble and Keith Levene of Metal Box/2nd Edition from a few years back (just before Levene passed away). Not intended to be a replacement for the original, but complementary.

Was there some promo code for using the ie site? I thought something like a €20 code came up for me a few days ago, but can't find it now.

Also have Prime on UK site, guessing the consensus is to leave it there for the moment?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,018 ✭✭✭RayCon

Yeah man, have it. Saw him in Whelans on the tour. Fantastic as always.

Was looking into some of the e-ink tablets, Scribe seems a good option if you can get it at a cheaper price to others, especially if you use a Kindle for reading also.

The Scribe was only released in Nov/Dec 2024,so this is the first real discount opportunity, but it is the lowest price it has been per camel camel.

They have the 20% trade in offer on top of that, so if you have a Kindle that you could upgrade, you can trade it in for a further 20% off, plus a gift card if between £5 and £30 I think. I contacted customer support, shared my trade in reference, they told me to buy the Scribe and once I've confirmation of receipt of the trade in to get on to customer support and they'll retrospectively apply the 20% refund.

If buying from the UK, best if you can use OohPod etc to avoid duties. Amazingly, it's actually slightly cheaper on Amazon.ie but they don't do the trade in option, however you should save on the duties if the trade in discount is not a consideration.

Interesting chat in the no chat thread about that travel adapter. Personally speaking I have a little bit more faith in the safety of items actually sold by Amazon than 3rd party sellers. I had a shítty similar version from AliExpress and that went in the bin straight away, just reeked of fire hazard.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

No chargers have ever caught fire on me, but I've had a few cheap ones that got seriously hot over time while charging.

Any official ones (Samsung for example) I've had have definitely not got as hot when charging.

I've got also had cheap ones that have been fine too I must add.

    That's my experience anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,325 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I honestly find it hilarious that one single report of it catching fire out of almost 500 reviews was enough to dissaude people from buying.

If you look up practically ANY electronic on Amazon, you'll find at least one review complaining of it overheating and / or being a fire hazard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,429 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

Some idiots will always manage to create a hazard with a mains powered electrical device. Beat the **** out of it let it get damp and still expect it to work faultlessly.

We have a true family story about an Aunt of mine that had problems with her TV catching fire - back in the days of sets with valves in them. To cut a very long story short she watered plants on the top of the TV and let the water drip down the back. She'd have been the first to say there was something wrong with the TV and it wasn't anything she could have done.

I woke recently when a USB charger stopped working after a bang followed by a burning smell. My own fault I'd used an old 1 Amp charger with a device that needed 2 Amps - should I write a review stating the charger was dangerous?

Wake me up when it's all over.

Anyways - quick little tip that may or may not help others!

If you're on Amazon UK and don't have Prime, you need to spend £35 to avail of Free Super Saver Delivery.

If you're on Amazon IE and don't have Prime, you need to spend €25 to avail of Free Super Saver Delivery.

If you do spot a bargain on Amazon UK, you can change the domain from .co.uk.ie and you'll get the Irish representation obviously selling on Amazon Ireland in €.

    e.g
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Ocean-Exclusive-Vinyl-VINYL/dp/B09QQT2TM7/https://www.amazon.ie/Amazon-Ocean-Exclusive-Vinyl-VINYL/dp/B09QQT2TM7/

    As below:

    Screenshot 2025-03-28 at 15.57.35.png Screenshot 2025-03-28 at 15.57.58.png

You'll notice the price is potentially different and considerably more expensive - but if you click '3 New from £10.33', you'll potentially be able to buy from Amazon UK as a seller which should be "similar" to the sterling price bar a negligible price difference - as below:

    Screenshot 2025-03-28 at 15.58.08.png

The advantage here is that you only need to spend €25 to get Free Super Saver Delivery (providing the items added combined are €25+ and sold by Amazon UK).

Might be obvious to some, but said I'd just flag as an option.
