I thinking about running a vanilla speed game on here this evening. Lynch - munch every 30 minutes with no roles and an auto priest.
Would I be able for it? Is anyone interested in playing?

really enjoyed last couple of games. Great job by the mods

definitely agree on dusting off the anon accounts- removes a fair bit of meta

hate boards search facility- playing on mobile is really challenging in that respect

    My feedback, for this thread,

Loving the return. When I get some time, i'll run a game, just don't have that yet. Hope to gain more free time in the new year, when there is less deadlines.

kudos to necro and trigs, and strawbs too.

Only just seen this (didn't have notifications working before)

    I'll say it again...

    LOCK

    WOLF!

Also, don't give me a time that requires subtlety or laying low 🙈

One thing that Neo mentioned during the last game was the concept of "seer cover"; I've seen it in games before where NRVs drop hints to try to draw a munch but not where NRVs openly post fake seer reveals to give cover like that. Obviously for it to work, multiple villagers would need to do it along with the seer and then the results could be reviewed once the seer is revealed.

Since there are a lot of fairly new players, are there any other village (or wolf) strategies that more experienced players could share?

Added benefit, If 5 nrv lay down fake cover, and one of them is munched, you can be next to lock, that the person that was faked is whatever the dead fake said it was.

    example.

if frank fakes that george is village, and frank ends up dead on n1, you can be 99.95% certain that george is in fact village.

yeah I’ve seen some places where it’s normal practice for everyone to drop a seer peek claim to cover the real seer. It is a good strategy, though for some reason it feels a bit too formulaic sometimes. You then get wolves munching player who named a villager to cast shade on a villager or the one who named a wolf so they look clear, so on down that sort of rabbit hole…

I agree with your comment about that being a bit formulaic. Part (most?) of the fun is that generally people don't really know what they're doing. At least, that's how I console myself after doing something stupid again 🤣

I loved Frank's jokes and the gremlins craic at the end, it was a great idea to give the defeated wolves some fun at the end.

I super appreciated getting that chance after being offed so quickly. Wasn’t sure how people would feel about basically getting a second life, and wasnt sure if I should have scrapped my notes and played it entirely fresh, but from a playing point of view, it was great to get the chance to get back in.

also just loved the anon games in general. I suck st picking out who is who, and it removes all biasses as a result. Last game as a wolf, a few people got I was playing different than I usually do as a villager. But under anon accounts, I don’t have to worry about playing a different game than usual. Think non anon games can be fun for other reasons, but I think I do prefer the anon games.

The only reason Trigger didn't get a second go around is he'd been in the company of a dead wolf in the dead room for a few mins so he'd have had some slight elements of extra information from the posts back there. I didn't need an extra player at the time of his death (Lord has taken sub slot needed already and yosser was still trying to play)

Just for future reference maybe hold off giving your early dead DR access until you're certain you won't need them as subs!!

A great run, fun anon game (Clarkson's Farm)

Maybe just for future anon games, just a reminder in OP that lynch/yeet voting be done in anon name not your own

Best game where we closes at night ever

As I mentioned on the game thread, I learned a lot from running the Macbeth game, so I wanted to post about that here.

The first thing that I realised is that it is a fair bit of work to run these so we need to be incredibly grateful to @Trigger and @Necro for running games so frequently. It's also important that we widen the pool of game mods so that it doesn't always fall to these two!

The second thing is that while it is a bit of work, it is hugely rewarding and fun to do it here. We have a great little community here that we should all be working to keep alive.

The third thing is that games are pretty resilient. If you've read the backrooms, you'll all I know I made a big booboo at one point. While I had a level 7 meltdown, the players affected were gracious (thank you @Neowise, @Cainflan, @duffman13) and the game bounced back pretty quickly. So don't be worried about being 'perfect' if you want to give modding a go.

New players added tremendously to this game. @Goldengirl, @Cryogenic, @Cainflan and @Put It In H (I know, not 100% new but out of retirement) all got stuck in and made the game better imo. I really liked the Day 1 amnesty that was applied and think it's important to consider following through on this so that newbies get a real sense of what it is like to play and find their feet.

As I mentioned on the game thread, @Trigger was hugely helpful to me in this. While it wasn't my first time modding, it was my first solo effort and the biggest thing I learned was that you really do need to have someone to bounce ideas off. With that in mind, I was thinking that it might be a good idea, in sign-up threads, for 'solo' mods to ask those who can't play to act as sounding boards. Sometimes playing isn't possible but it's nice to be involved and this might be a way for people who are a bit wary of modding to get a sense of game building and any issues that can come up in a game.

Thanks a million again to everyone who took part, ye are all a bunch of legends. 😊
