Actually, taking the whole cake situation seriously, by far the best post parkrun 'carb reloading' fare has to be Vicarstown. They not only have a very friendly core team, but they have quite the spread afterwards, if people were to travel there remember to bring some physical money for a donation towards the next weeks offering.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I only volunteered for the first time ever yesterday. I've done 49 parkruns so I told myself I wouldn't allow myself get to 50 until I volunteered at least once!!

My poor excuse for not volunteering previously is that I have a young son and so sometimes my only chance to get exercise during the week is Saturday morning (and it's often with him in a running buggy). Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering (I did timekeeper) and it was nice to get to know the core team better at my local parkrun. I am planning on volunteering next week as well ☺️

    Well done you!!

I was something similar 37 parkruns before I volunteered, I’m now at 267 parkruns with 138 volunteer credits.

You know you can volunteer and run/participate as well, as some volunteer roles allow that, such as, Pre-Event Setup, Post Event Close Down, First Timers Welcome, Event Day Course Check, parkwalker, Tail Walker and if your local event have pacers you can do that too.

Volunteering is so rewarding, now you’ve done it once, you’ll be hooked.
