Sometime around 26th January I'd imagine, which is why it's unusual that they're changing the stop number.

As someone who lives on or near the NCR, this is an extremely "meh" feeling from me here. From Rathdown rd NCR to the Zoo there's really only the 39a corridor and the N2 which is rare, but the 39a should not be considered as its always chocka in both directions , as its the busiest route in the country. This is why I presume cgcsb posted as well, as the loss of the 46a is really hurting. The "but the O" argument is useless for the same reasons cos it doesn't go where most NCR punters want to go - the city centre.

Want to go to town off the O from say marlborough road /NCR junction ?

Change at Hanlons Corner - see above. walk 150m wait for and cross a very busy traffic lights.

Change at phibsboro ? wait to get through BOTH phibsboro traffic lights and then cross ped lights + walk 150m

Change at Dorset St ? walk 150m while waiting a long time for ped traffic lights

    no, none of that works

also why HAVENT the changes for the lights at heuston been done, the S2 and N2 could make immediate use of them , no need to wait for the O

Would the rest of the 13 be replaced by the D spine this year does anyone know? first 13 leaving grange castle at 550am is a joke in this day and age,24 hour is badly needed

I think the current N2 routing is permanent. Only the 2020 BusConnects map had it using Infirmary Road. The most recent version, and the ones before all show the current route using Manor Street.

They never updated the S2 to show the current diversion so that change still seems to be planned.

sticking the N2 up Stonybatter is a huge slowdown and one of the functions of the N2 was to connect with the Phoenix park, which it doesnt really at the moment, where it does touch the PP at the moment leaves you with a massive walk to anywhere.

Also noticed while driving there is no stop for kilcarbery on the w4 towards Tallaght even with the continuous bus lane. There can't be a stop towards blanchardstown as theres a continuous bollard up the middle of the road

It'd be better if we actually had the O though instead of a rare single door bus that's full 100% of the time

Lol there is no way to get on a 39a at Prussia street at peak times. There are no other high frequency routes, you can wait for a 37 I suppose. Also one can be quite far from either

yes very much Bombay main station levels of crowding and its every bus . The B spine will not fix this whenever they bother to implement it, as it'll be at capacity and beyond at launch even with the increased frequency . Same for getting on at Stone restaurant in Stonybatter northbound

Morning, any Idea when the 83 and the 9 bus will be replaced, it was meant to be march 2025 but have heard nothing, hopefully it was cancelled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 500 ✭✭✭asdfgh86

Genuine question- Why do you want it cancelled? Would they not be replaced by more frequent F busses?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,040 ✭✭✭Prefect_1998

No issue asking, from talking to local elderly residents that go to the matter Hospital and frequent the northside shopping areas like Dorset, Henry and and O'Connell street the new bus would drop them at dame street / Georges street. might seem like a short distance, but not for all people.

Where abouts is the person living and what new bus route do you think they'd have to use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭Citrus_8

It's too late for changes. It will be implemented as designed. There were plenty of public consultations. People will switch or walk. No big deal.

I thought the F spine was going up O'Connell Street, has that been changed?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 12,050 Mod ✭✭✭✭BeerNut

I can't figure this out at all. The 9 serves O'Connell Street and the F spine will serve O'Connell Street. Neither the 9 nor the 83 serve Dorset Street, but the F spine will. The F spine will not drop anyone on George's Street or Dame Street — it doesn't go to either. Are you sure you're reading the proposals correctly?

The changes don't just involve spine routes!!

They are referring to the radial routes 23 and 24 which replace the 9 and 83 on the northside. None of the F-Spine routes go near much of their territory in Glasnevin.

The 23 and 24 don't go near O'Connell Bridge at all but will route via Church Street and then go via Bridge Street, High Street, Lord Edward Street, Dame Street and then via Georges Street to St. Stephen's Green and Merrion Square.

Anyone wanting to go to/from O'Connell Street will have to interchange with the E-Spine to do so along the Botanic Road or Phibsborough Road.

The F Spine doesn't have an outbound shared stop with those routes but only one inbound.

Thanks. So the issue here is that you have to change bus, rather than people being involuntarily railroaded to George's Street?

Any changes are entirely dependent on there being sufficient resources available, be that drivers or buses. The former are taking a long time to recruit, and the latter require additional charging facilities to be put in place which is taking far longer than the powers that be ever considered!

No one can really give an accurate answer, but I wouldn't expect to see the F-Spine until the early Autumn (at the earliest) and the D-Spine possibly by the end of the year, but it will probably be into 2026 at the rate we are going.

Anyone knows why a PA was randomly allocted to the 11 today? Could this spark a fully PA operated 11?

It cut short and E1 at Donnybrook to cover the 11. Nothing more than that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭Daith

To be fair the 19 changed to be a cross city service at a pretty late stage. However that probably is a once off and more to do with the right political timing.

I am thinking the area at the Bernard Shaw could be a busy connect spot with people changing to go down Phisboro or the Whitworth Rd/Dorset St

Seeing the L25 nearly fully PA operated could tell us something, about the future of the 11. The route 11, 44 and the 142 is probably one of Dublin Bus' weirdest ever fleet allocations

Route 44: The 07:00 and the 08:00 services aren't operated by Donnybrook, instead frequently operated by Harristown, also almost every day, the 44 is operated only by SGs.

Route 11: SG's on the weekends (now more frequent due to Phase 6A) and AX646-648 being transferred and becoming less active really shakes how the 11 works today.

Route 142: This is one of Dublin's useless route for the Milltown area. To this day, I still wonder why the 142 isn't operated by Donnybrook, if Donnybrook and UCD are right next to each other… Yes you may say that Coast Road seems too long for Donnybrook's buses, but there aren't really close depots near Coast Road.

Seeing Donnybrook's AX's reduced to just I think 3 or 4, really shows how bus fans are losing time on wanting to catch an AX before they all go missing. Future phases of BusConnects (including a possible future Phase 6b) could eliminate AX's forever.

Just on the morning 44s, they work a euro duty from DCU into O'Connell Street before working an outbound 33 to Balbriggan. This was previously operated by Summerhill but was moved to Harristown as Summerhill needed the space for the EWs.

Pre-covid, Donnybrook worked the inter-peak 142s which only went between UCD and Portobello (Charlotte Way I believe). The S4 now handles the UCD-Milltown portion of the 142, but the 142 remains for now until the Bus Connects equivalent launches to cover off the Coast Road→Malahide→Swords→UCD link.

Sorry to be blunt, Dublin Bus couldn’t give a flying saucer about what a handful of bus fans think about whatever bus is allocated on what route.

It’s all done on operational reasoning. I still don’t understand the love of AXs. They were nothing special. Now give me an Olympian or Van Hool or even a DT over them any day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭BusGuy

The AX's are the only type of bus that can handle the big hill at Stillorgan/Sandyford, that barely an SG or a PA go over
