I really like these. They’ve grown on me over the last year or so as I didn't originally like them if you get me.

What I will say about motorcorp is that they have a really good photographer, So inspect the car properly. Check the condition of the paint and check the tires.

I’ve seen a few that left there with paint so badly swirled on €60k cars that would leave you questioning why they didn’t put a €200 paint correction job on it.

Also, lots of replica wheels and cheap tyres.

That doesn’t mean they are all like that but just keep your eyes open on them.

They always have what looks like really well spec’d cars and have carved out a market for PHEV’s from the UK and recently they have started to stock quite a few EV’s.

    TLDR

I’d have no problem buying from them once the car checked out.

Seems relatively cheap compared to similar ones listed on DD but not many around so difficult to value. UK registered one’s available from £25K so it might be worth looking at importing one from N.I instead.

I have a fried who's bought a good few ice AMG mercs up the north from main dealers so he's asked the two he deals with to keep an eye out for a suitable one for the South for me.

I like that merc a lot, no mention of battery size in the ad ? Looks great for that money though

Should be 80kWh which is decent but they don’t seem to be the most efficient of an EV. Range seems to considerably worse than say an ID.4. €10K more would get you a 2023 EQE which has way more range.

Ya the EQC look like a fine car. You dont see many of them on the road as well. Just dont like that colour in a car, is the only bad thing i see with it. Range coupdnt be much worse than a 55 etron wud it?

Very similar but the e-Tron is a bigger car, the interior of an EQC is quite cramped by comparison.

Never heard of rodent damage in a car advert before.

What's likely to be wrong with it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,319 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Probably smells absolutely awful and they probably nested in the back seats and ate the seatbelts seeing as he mentions both?

Something going munching through the car seat in the rear

I doubt it ended up in a salvage yard probably written off as beyond economic repair by the insurance for only cosmetic damage.

The big issue with rodents is eating wires, 'driving perfectly' is a big difference from 'working' perfectly in a EV so anyone looking at that would need to test everything.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Interesting if it was a write off , you can pick up a interior pretty reasonable.

Sorry, missed that. Perhaps he could have described the damage a bit clearer.

Makes you wonder why no picture of the damage

Rodent damage - now that’s a first. Strange one!!

Avoid at all costs, rats or mice can do an incredible amount of damage. I wonder what it's insurance status is? They usually write them off.

My grandmother had a rat eat the back seats of her Toyota Corolla a few years back. Toyota refused to accept responsibility even though my aunt who was dealing with it discovered afterwards the manufacturer was in the wrong.

I have no idea where she discovered the information but it was probably along the lines of it being a design defect.

Or have the car inspected by a professional to asses the damage? Could be a bargain.

    chewing of wires.
you could fix one and spend the rest of your life chasing down other electrical gremlins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 160 ✭✭BestWestern

No doubt the owner has already got the car inspected, and thought the best answer was to sell it cheaply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,021 ✭✭✭Tango One

It's about 10k below market value, also if not sold is few weeks this trader tends to drop the price.

I know I posted it but I would be on the fence about it. Potentially alot of electrics that could be damaged or glass half it's only cosmetics and the horrible thought a rat has been living in there.

The history would be interesting if it was a lease car did they just get rid rather than fixing. You would think a private owner would be more likely to fix it though maybe they got the yuk factor and ditch it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,393 ✭✭✭✭User1998

Not at all. By that logic every single car in the damage repairable section is not worth fixing. The guy selling it is a trader so probably deals in damaged cars. Those guys have no interest in repairing. They buy cheap from insurance companies and sell as is, regardless of the potential profit in fixing them.

I presume this rodent issue happened over a period of time, so person was away for a few weeks or didn't use car for a few weeks and returned and found the issue with the rats. Im guessing that anyway.

So what's next in here? Burnt out cars?

Pretty sure this is the same car that was last for sale asking €1750, then marked as sold a couple of days ago. Anyway even if it isn't, Leaf asking €1450. Not much info in the ad, under 100k miles, and the NCT has expired. Very little these can usually fail on though. Nothing about range, but if it has the typical 7-9 bars left, I'd consider it a bargain, particularly if you can negotiate a good few hundred off

Toyota's of a certain vintage had a big problem with rodents, think it was a particular insulation on the wiring that was attracting them. It was particularly bad with the avensis model, nearly sure there was a few court case's about it.
