    A no brainer for who?

Are you seriously advocating the US take over a country that is already a territory of another country, and was for 400+ years before the US existed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

So no you haven’t been to USVI population 80,000 and a tropical climate which is a “resource” especially to those in hotel trade

You just underlined why it be stupid for Greenlanders to sell themselves into US oligarch ownership and become literally second class citizens

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

Greenland polled on this in January, 85% do not wish to be part of the US. How do you think the US are likely to treat a population that don't actually want to be a part of the US? Also consider the complete disregard the administration has for minority groups... You are living in a fantasyland.

Let me fix that for you

He wants to live in an oligarchic dystopia like Russia where rule of law, fairness, equality and democracy don’t matter

But for some reason won’t just move there and experience it first hand

I suspect trumps plan for Greenland is for “little blue red and white” men to appear all over Greenland and then suddenly a referendum is held with 99% support, oh where have we seen that play before I wonder

His entire philosophy revolves around smaller countries bending the knee to bigger countries.

The EU was going to throw Ireland under the bus during Brexit because the UK was too important so we should’ve bent the knee and beg for leniency

The EU is going to hate Ireland because of its trade status with the US and will force us to bend the knee to them and beg for mercy

America hates Ireland because of our tax rates and pharmaceutical industry so we better throw ourselves to the floor in forgiveness and accept whatever terms the mighty US want

Greenland should consider themselves lucky they a big strong country like the US is interested in them and should roll out the red white and blue carpet and beg to be part of their country

The democratic ideals of self-determination, autonomy, partnerships and cooperation are lost on him, the big should simply be allowed to eat the small.

Which is absolutely ridiculous. The US can’t simply have any county it wants.

On top of that, the role of Denmark in Greenland is highly controversial. So selling out to the highest bidder who will desecrate there country is unlikely to be popular with the population.

No brainers are this administration's specialty....

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

    That raises an interesting scenario

If a bidding war were to start what would happen if China outbid US

I don’t think the ones putting out daft notions have thought this one through

In a dog eat dog world other dogs might have other ideas that could lead to WW3

Trump was doing the same in his first term and the likes of Boris Johnson took up the mantle then. Deny, Dismiss, Ignore. Only people with a moral compass resign, if you don't have one, why bother. Even here in Ireland there is on real mechanism to push anyone out. Its just peer pressure from the party or opposition that really sees anyone leave. If people start digging their heels in there very little method to remove them. Especially if they have the backing of their own side. I think this will become the norm in politics as most politicians are in it for themselves. Look at the republicans who won't speak out for fear of losing their seat, had they any real morals they wouldn't care about the seat, only the country and constituents. But they're on the gravy train and they don't intend getting off, any time soon.

Fair play to him. They tried to discredit him so he was 100% right to spill (more of) the beans.

Well there was no classified info apparently…

Goldberg is the same journalist who broke the story about Trump calling servicemen losers a few years ago. None of this is an accident imo.

Based on what, exactly? Trump telling them that? He is a conman who has a long and decorated history of lying and doing people over when it comes to business or politics.

America can barely treat its own citizens well, you have your head in the sand if they thing they will treat Greenlanders any better.

Trump now saying somebody may have screwed up…

Who's first on the chopping block..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,801 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Say something bad about them =/= threatening to invade them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭doyle55

The person responsible for adding the journalist to the group will lead the probe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,032 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

Mike Waltz must be first with their head on the chopping block.

Pete Hegseth saying very directly that there were no War plans leaked when it was patently false is not good either.

Oh and Tulsi Gabbard and John Ratcliffe lying in a senate hearing is bad.

And Witkoff using Signal while lierally in Moscow is not good.

It's a bigger f*ck up than any that occurred in the last 3 Democratic Presidencies.

There's a poster on here with the tag line in their bio saying "Elect Clowns, get a circus" or words to that effect. That's it in a nutshell.

Yeah I'm sure they'd love losing free healthcare, free education and all citizenship & rights associated with Denmark, as well as being governed by the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene and all those other dingbats.

The only lottery win it'd be comparable to is the lottery where the competitors for The Hunger Games are selected.

Of course they should all go but no doubt Trump has even worse ghouls lined up to replace them until Congress remembers it is supposed to serve the American people not bend the knee to Trump.

Mentioned this on the previous page:

"TBH guys, this will rumble on for a few days and some junior will get blamed/fired, that will be it. Also maybe some other shiney silver bauble will be introduced that will out right distract the easily distractable US Media / All media. Trump is a master at this

Trump & Co have the ability to hang in there. They are in total control, cannot be chucked out ( other than a coup / revolution ).

So trump will just ride this out, why does he need to do anything else really. The US voters handed over absolute power to him"

It seems I am correct .. who would have thought. Jeez you can read Trump like a book

Trump: "What it was, we believe, is somebody that was on the line with permission, somebody that worked with Mike Waltz at a lower level, had Goldberg's number or call through the app, and somehow this guy ended up on the call."

And the votes become completely irrelevant just like the second class “citizens” in USVI, Puerto Rico, DC and any bunch of pacific territories

I find it interesting how the person who previously made arguments that Ireland’s 4-5 million become irrelevant in EUs 450-500million is ok with 50,000 becoming irrelevant in 350+ million oligarchy that is anything but a republic or a democracy anymore but resembles Russia more and more

I guess they will also have to pay US taxes without any representation to add insult to injury

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 912 ✭✭✭Dr Robert

Hegseth was name checked by Trump the day after it happened,so I thought he might be in trouble tbh.

They'll probably all be fired in the next 4 years anyway.

Vance should be fired too, but he won't be obviously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,931 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

So Vance is only going to visit the airbase in Greenland, not quite sure what that aims to achieve…isn’t DOGE trying to cut back on wasted spending?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,076 ✭✭✭aidanodr

WHITE HOUSE BREIFING is imminent, very shortly ( live CNN etc ).

So trump will wheel out the intern who was "at fault" for this OR say that intern is now fired. Then immediately follow that with another irresistable shiney silver bauble for the CHOOSEN unquestioning US media who will be at this briefing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,342 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

You think they will treat the people well just because they hava a resource? No they will just take take take. Also they should treat everyone the same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 448 ✭✭Will_I_Amnt

I guarantee you if Trump was president in 1972 (Watergate), he'd have accused Woodward and Bernstein of sensationalistic headlines and "fake news" and the The Washington Post of being a dying publication! This childishness from this whitehouse is boring!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

I say he will instead change the conversation by changing everyone’s attention onto something else and hope this is forgotten about like any number of other disasters they created
