Yes, and the other link didn't - because it counted Irish travellers as separate from Irish. Hence, the total number of "Irish" is lower in the "non prison" link than it would have been in the prison one.

Look I can't be bothered explaining it if you haven't read the descriptions properly. Find another link that might be easier to compare.

I don't need to, I can read statistics directly from the Irish prison service.

Why are you trying to separate black Irish nationals and white Irish nationals?

I thought this thread was about 'Garron Noone'!?

I know the amount of posts per page was reduced, but I quickly scrolled through the last 2 to get to end of the thread.

So haven't read the comments on whatever statics people are discussing!?

So back to normal service for himself! Vicious Seagulls is latest video below!

It's a bit strange that this has gone from immigrants to now being actually about the colour of skin? Werid!

Is he drawing a distinction between native seagulls and invasive Seagulls?

Are you doing this deliberately? I'm not trying to separate anyone - I'm trying to analyse and compare data from two different links, in which ONE counts white Irish as Irish. The other counts only nationality.

Data about percentages of nationalities IN PRISON is meaningless without comparable data of nationalities OUTSIDE prison.

So if you have data for the Irish population that gives percentages of Irish nationals vs African nationals etc, like I said, do go right ahead and provide it. I couldn't see any but then I didn't spend very long looking. Which is why I gave the one I did find, and pointed out the ways in which the categories used were slightly different.

You've stumbled upon the exact issue.

If this thread was launched last week, it would've been about cups of tae and being "delicious"

But he chose to dip his toes into current political discourse, and here we are.

Seems posters here have the same problem as Garron had with regards to Mcgregor, can't discuss him without bringing up topics mentioned. But this thread after a slower scroll, has varied very far away from what either said, I believe.

Yup! As is what happens when you delve into such a divisive subject. It shows just how complicated the entire situation is, so not very smart to have your first foray into speaking about it publically be a short reel on Instagram.

Not his first time dipping his toes into political topics, just more critical this time, with people making the assumption he was endorsing/backing up McGregor.

    ^^ Video from Nov 2023, I think.

They also should realise that they live in one of the most tolerant countries on Earth. If you are gay in most African and all Muslim countries, you are quite likely to be arrested and in some cases sentenced to death.

Maybe these NGO's would be better off addressing the incredible levels of homophobia in these 80-90 other countries but that would actually involve some risk and hard work. Although, they will no doubt be soon needed here as we are importing these same repressive attitudes every day.

His views are completely mainstream just not those of the internet echo chamber populatged by cranks and trolls looking to be offended. If he had any backbone at all, he should have said just that.

Ireland is so far from the main centres of mass immigration in Europe that we are 10 years or so behind in our attitudes. Luckily for us, the main European powers such as Germany, France and Italy have moved very much to the right and these fake asylum seekers will be stopped at source so unable to cross all of Europe to arrive here.

Black people are over represented in prisons in every country on Earth. Asian people are massively under-represented.

Black people are also overwhelmingly the victims of violent crime. For example, 93 per cent of African Americans are killed by another African American so racism doesn't come into this issue at all.

According to the FBI, Black people committed over 60 per cent of all violent crime (Armed Robbery, Homicide and Rape) despite being just over 13 per cent of the population.

You could consider this a failure of mass immigration really as this population arrived from Africa around 400 years ago and still are massively behind in all socio-economic categories.

    On the other hand

Most unsolicited calls I get are from Indian scammers.

On Facebook every news article on an accidental death is infested by Indonesians claiming to have footage of the event & posting dodgy links.

To get an idea, we could probably look at the UK, where only a couple of weeks ago their government published data that 1 in 4 sexual offences were caused by foreign nationals. This is despite census data showing foreign nationals make up just 9.3 per cent of the population at that time.

I very much doubt the UK government published that a couple of weeks ago, because the last time the foreign born population was next to near 9% was over 20 years ago.

A failure of ahem "mass immigration"?

Utterly dishonest racist dog whistling to post that without mentioning slavery, Jim Crow, them being as second class citizens sometimes even in their own countries under colonialism, segregated etc

Garron Noone at least didnt descend to such racist depths.

What we do know as a fact is that the overwhelming majority of sex crimes are committed by people known to the victim

You can't find official data on the population of Ireland? Are you serious. Where could one find such hidden secrets.. 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,642 ✭✭✭volchitsa

LOL not what I said. Did you miss where I said I hadn't spent long looking. That's because I'm only vaguely interested. It's just that as a scientist, I couldn't help noticing that posters had only posted one part of the data needed to answer the question.

If you don't like the link I've found, as I said, you're more than welcome to look for a better one.

Point being that the original number given, ie, that 3.4% of the prison population are of African nationality, says nothing at all about the rates of criminality of Africans in Ireland, without some means of comparing that with even the roughest notion of the percentage of Africans in the overall population in Ireland. If 3.4% of the population are African, then they are committing crimes at the same rate as the Irish. If 1.5% are, then there's a discrepancy that may or may not be explained by criteria such as age and sex (males of all races commit more serious crimes than females) - but probably less so by smearing the guards and the whole judicial system as racist, as one poster here hastened to do.

It's noticeable that nobody got annoyed about that though. I wonder why not.

And I don't need to as I can look directly at the data from the prison service, I also know where to find data on the Irish population, secret and all as it is…

Still no reason why you want to single out black Irish nationals

The notion that the Gardai and by extension Ireland as a whole is institutionally racist is a far left trope that gets trotted out regularly.

We had this post George Nkencho's death, seemingly the Gardai were driving around shooting black men for no reason pretty much every day of the week, except they weren't and never have been.

The far right in Ireland is Justin Barrett his chums and a few impressionable kids, they have no reach, the far left are so much slicker and well organised in comparison, but we shouldn't be putting up with either group because they both deal in complete fantasy, to the point where calling what they say misinformation is granting it too much credibility.

    Glazers Out!

Take note, You could get in trouble for stating the above!

On the subject of sharing Garron's new videos on this forum. I've no intention of doing so. Just shared his first normal service video last night. I believe he wants to move on from it. The rest of us, should probably do so as well?

Because I wrongly thought trolling would be bad across boards. And was pointing it out to the person I replied to. I remembered your post. And it was intended in good faith, sorry for tagging/quoting into here.
