Looks like Electric Ireland have reduced (and removed in some cases) their cashback offers.

thanks for this, was looking for the non smart day night rates last week but didnt want to put in my MPRN in case it signed me up there and then, they didnt make it obvious.

By any chance did you see a standing charge connected to that rate? When I put it my MPRN on their website it doesnt show me any unit rates and just says it is an EAB of €1152 with no breakdown of the standing charge and unit rates. The next step is to actually sign up for the plan.

Ah here, we aren't living in North Korea yet😊 they'd require slightly more info than your mprn😏

Those are the Ex vat rates, not quite as good as the Flow Gas BWG but probably the best option unless Flow gas surprise us.

On the other side of it the Electric Ireland CEO said a few days ago that EI are not putting up their prices like Airtricity are doing. At least not immediately so there seems to be some divergence in policy. Its positive news in so far as it will make the others like Energia think twice about following Airtricitys 10% price increase due to come into effect next week.

No the screenshot I posted was the axa offer rates with 41% discount including VAT, you've posted a screenshot with 38% discount.

Have Electric Ireland reduced their discount as well 26% now , wasn't it 28% last week???- That's on a D/N meter, electricity only.

Yea, prices have definitely increased from a few days ago. Night was 12.8c, now 13.94c. day was 25.97c, now 27.46c. That makes it an easy choice for me now. I was torn between them and Energia.

Yeah was thinking that and the welcome bonus gone as well!

At least you didn't get the more standard 'talk to your own BWG manager for the link' response, but I won't be holding my breath for any email from them.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Just looking at Energias rates page here

    https://www.energia.ie/about-energia/our-tariffs

Does anyone know the difference between a day/night meter and a night storage meter?

What exactly is a night storage meter? I ask because the standing charge for these is a fair bit lower, €240 annually for urban vs €296 for the day/night meter in a urban area. The electricity rates are also marginally lower.

Ive never heard of a night storage meter before, anyone got an idea of what this is?

Night storage meter has a seperate switched output just for heating, most are gone the way of the dodo with the god awful storage heaters they supplied.

Apologies didn't spot the different discount rates. I went in through the same axa link and only being offered 38%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭pavelpro

Does AXA offer has any limitation in usage after which the rates are changing? Was trying to find it in T&C but looks its all good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 854 ✭✭✭spuddy

Yes it has, for D/N it's 27.3c over 3000 kWh Day and 13.3c over 2000 kWh Night every 2 months

Called Flogas there just to make sure of my end date which is tomorrow. She said I should be getting a renewal link for BWG rates without me asking but assume that's just what they had before. Will be to the AXA offer on Thursday morning it seems. If I put it through at midnight tomorrow would it make a difference over waiting til the morning or would it just move the whole day once the request comes in through that day?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,060 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

I wouldn’t bother taking the risk, the difference of the rates for one day won’t even buy a bag if taytos

    The internet isn’t for everyone

It wouldn't make a material difference. It requires manual intervention so nothing will be done by Energia until the working day starts. The time to transfer over won't be affected.

Rang Flogas today (was told 3 weeks ago I would get a link to my email and if not ring back a week or two before renewal) got customer care and was told I should already link was sent out to all customers emails.. Then asked could I be put through to sales as they would know better what to do if no link was received. Before I transfered I asked what new rates were but was told they are not allowed to provide that information.. even tho I am a current t customer and on the plan currently.. got through to sales and I dident even get to finish the sentence My renewal is up on March 31st and I am on the bwg..... she cuts in yeah we're not doing any of that you have to go through bwg rep.. I played dump and stated wife works for value center asked about this link and knowone new what she was talking about etc... lady from flogas just said nothing we can do you need link and I can't give it to you and I can leave on 1st April.... shocking customer service and general manners....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,502 ✭✭✭bren2001

    shocking customer service

Not really. You don't work for BWG and they know that. They're under no obligation to send you the new link. They shouldn't be rude but what exactly did you expect? You've read the thread.

My wife works for bwg and as yet nobody at the company have heard about a deal being put in place between the two companies, the amount of employees that signed up was a bit of a flop last year and only for the links getting leaked online it would have been a disaster nunbers wise

Not sure what flogas have done wrong here tbh they can’t issue a bwg staff discount link to you, keep the head down and see if a link is released if not move on simple 👍🏻

just checking energypal for myself getting ready for a move and it’s pointing me to bonkers which is showing some cashback offers from bord gais yuno and sse airtricity

Not sure if bonkers needs an update of if the cashback is still available

I think your wife would get an email if she use her BWG email for this deal: https://www.flogas.ie/price-plans/residential/detail.html?fuelType=dual_fuel&offerId=33&availability=new_customers

There are few more other variations, but at least she might see the new rates for different offers like 33, 34, 35…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,060 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

she’s in head office and nobody has heard anything about a deal this year, we’ve been away for two weeks so I should know more tomorrow

So as it stands. Who is the best for 24hour rate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 137 ✭✭Lester_Burnham

I wouldn't blame her. You're not entitled to the deal. They've obviously decided that sign up is by email only. And you're wasting her time lying to her about a plan she can't sign you up to. I'd say CS have a royal pain in their collective hole with people ringing about this.

I can't seem to sign up to the day/night plan with energia, that option disappears when I put in my mprn.

There was a smart meter put into the house in the last year but I didn't sign up to a smart plan, my meter is still mcc02.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

    Hi there,

Half way through Sse contract. Thinking of moving, anyone know if they typically enforce the termination fee?

    Thanks!
