    Deflect, deny.

Has Trump succeeding in turning the US into what would be described as a rogue nation, if it were another nation?

The funny side to those messages, is they seem to want Europe to want to pay for them dropping bombs on the Houthis.

So they bomb the Houthis for attacking international shipping and US warships. From the white house's own website: White House. Which is response to what Israel is doing in Gaza, which is fully backed by the Trump Administration… but they want "freeloading" Europe to pay for it.

Meanwhile, National Security is invoked so as not to release information about those deported to El Salvador, their criminal records (if any), and when the planes took off.

"The judge is seeking information on:

"concerning the exact timing of when the two planes took off from US soil and left US airspace that day, as well as the specific times individuals deported under Trump’s proclamation were transferred out of US custody that day. "

    Yet leaked war plans are???????????????????????????

Most of the shipping that goes thru there is Chinese

Notice how China, Saudi and especially Egypt (who have a massive military and largest navy in Mediterranean and directly earn billions from traffic) are very very quiet

It also shows complete lack of knowledge of history as it was the US that forced UK and France to give up the canal and security of the Red Sea post WW2

Anyways I suspect Europe will pay around time Mexico pays for that bit beautiful wall

Somehow it’s ‘pot, kettle, black’ that comes to mind on reading this statement from the White House…

Was that leak deliberate to get the level of anti Europe sentiment out there ? Can think of no other reason . Nobody is that stupid

Trump will have no problem firing people in his administration to deflectors blame.

His first term was a mess. This one is going the same way.

I read the original Atlantic article. Apparently he knew waltz in passing and had met him a few times.

Edit to add: He initially thought he was being trolled.

    Nobody is that stupid

Oh, my sweet summer child. The people Trump has appointed to he highest offices of state are very much that stupid. They have one quality, and that is unwavering loyalty to Trump.

Of course trumps response to the whole thing is “a leak? Where? Will I call a plumber?” Brain dead.

    Quoted as saying;

“I’m not a big fan of The Atlantic. To me, it’s a magazine that’s going out of business… but I know nothing about it,”

its always been a rogue nation, this admin is just making it much much roguer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

I disagree Under Biden the adults were running the show and US economy absolutely boomed by every metric possible despite him having to pickup pieces left by Trump 1

Anyways your whole thesis falls apart with the use of word “state”

The very idea of a state and a democratic republic is foreign to these clowns

They want an oligarchic dystopia like Russia where ultra religious, neo Nazis, libertarians, racists and criminals are all United in their hate for anything that resembles a “state”

Remember the big deal about Hillarys emails?

    This is way worse.

I'd say China and Russia are pissing themselves laughing. Trump is an absolute gift to them. There's good reason Russia wanted him in.

virtually every previous admin were involved in shady global activities, in particular in maintaining global conflicts, including the biden admin, but to be fair, they were no where near as bad as trump admins, this admin is by far the most dangerous admin america has had in a very long time, maybe ever!

They ignored an insurrection, something tells me this story won't knock a stir out of them

I think the answer to all those questions these days tends to be "no, even stupider".

The military must be going bananas at all this, their lives and members of their force being put directly at risk with no checks and balances to stop the every deepening stupidity, incompetency and hatred (the trump admin has been breaking the law but then changing those in charge of pursuing the law breaking to avoid the repercussions).

But we have a first hand example of this being slow moving enough that it is accepted as OK and full cognitive dissonance is in effect, which I can understand, as this is their livelihood and the hope is that in ~3 years those at the top will change and it will go back to "normal", but they have 3 years of being put directly at risk by people who a) don't care about them in the slightest and b) are too stupid to hide that lack of caring.

Are you suggesting a US military coup in offing, who will install a junta, to restore power to the people? 😛

Legal opinion on the first was that the use of a private server was not contraordained if records were being kept pursuant to the Federal Records Act. Signal is end-to-end encryption, basically a VPN, and it was presumably between government devices, so that implies compliance with the FRA.

That at least some of them were using disappearing messages seems to contradict this surely? I have had to ask colleagues in work not to use disappearing messages in Whatsapp in our communication, it is plainly obvious they should not be used for these communications. It seems pretty hard to defend.

I'm not remotely surprised it is wildly used and the rules and tools for communication are clearly outdated and cause problems. But surely you have to know when it is not appropriate and so carelessly allowing a bloody journalist into such a group is indefensible. It didn't occur to anyone to check the member list before discussing such operational details? Utter negligence.

It's gas. To see something like this being hand waved away as an innocent "mistake" or something that's not really that serious is an indication of the blind support that this clown show has, whether that's from the hardcore idiots or the soft support from elsewhere.

An NFL coach wouldn't carelessly tweet his team's bloody game plan for a Thursday night, but here we have high level heads within the US govt. blithely tossing out sensitive information to randomers on a group chat about where they're going to bomb next.

You really couldn't make it up.

The only thing that would have made this more hilarious is if somebody in Yemen had received the message too.

On the stupid-unfunny front, I've no doubt that some on the deep-state conspiracy side of the Trump fanbase will be looking at Waltz through thick lenses, muttering about their usual fears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,417 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

I doubt a coup will happen, right now the admin is too dumb to do anything that might threaten the medium term even if they are all about destroying the here and now in ways that don't benefit the US at all.

But, if you're in the US military right now, you have to be questioning your function and worth and whether it's worth being pants'd by the government so frequently.

no it wasn't deliberate attempt to spook Europeans or Egypt through a poorly engineered leak. If it was, there would have been no need to include operational details of the mission.

Aside from the incompetence on display, it also shows that the contempt the Trump administration has for Europe is broad and runs throughout the top leadership. Lots of things can be inferred from the conversation but one is that if that the next republican administration is likely to be even more hostile to Europe than the current one.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

It has crossed my mind - there’s more than enough evidence there on the texts to support that theory and you couldn’t at all be accused of being conspiratorial in arriving at that conclusion, given what MAGA are capable of and have done to date.
The texts are actually supporting and reinforcing MAGA’s own stated position on Europe so it’s actually advantageous to them to “manufacture” this “leak” - I’m leaning towards it was deliberate myself. If Waltz gets sacked, it will be a temporary measure unless he’s disliked internally and this is part of a ruse to get him out.

I wonder how the Five Eyes are functioning now. Would you send anything sensitive to your US counterpart?

that is surely not true… They put details of an upcoming bombing on it.

If its deliberate they arent doing that… what if the reporter leaked it in advance?
