Type AC RCD for Periodic Inspection Report

While currently carrying out a periodic inspection report in a commercial premises we found a large number of type AC RCD's and RCBO's. Can anyone tell me if my understanding of the IS10101 regulations are correct, that these are still acceptable in an existing installation but not in a new installation?

    Thanks for your help.

As far as I am aware, once they pass the tests in an existing setup it’s okay. But for new installations it must be an A type.

Just a thought on the subject…

I can’t see the advantage for an A type RCBO over a AC type on a domestic shower though?
