I had always wanted to visit Beirut @the beer revolu, but the time was never right, and then it got worse…

I'd say it's well suited to vegetarians alright. I think I would love the food, definitely the lamb, but might give the small birds a skip (good on you for trying).

I've heard that brain has a creamy texture, I would possibly try, but offal is generally not for me.

I'm the same. I tried it with a pretty closed mind. Not for me but I wasn't going to not taste it. The balls were pretty tasty, kinda like sweetbreads. Again, I tasted rather than tucked in.

What a meal, though. I don't know how our hosts will top that! I had really good fish and chips last night too - pub food, I didn't fancy a burger 🤷

    St. Patrick's weekend 😜

A pal running a couple of bars here was looking for an Irish band to play so I put one together and came along for the trip!

Empanadas……pasties……whatever you want to call them. Minced pork, left over mash, peas, coriander etc etc.

That pastry looks great, I really must try make some, anything savoury with a crust is good by me.. Many moons ago I had the leftovers of a bacon and cabbage dinner done the same way

That's proper tasty looking, is the chicken breaded? The sauce I won't ask as imagine you used a million bits and pieces

Floured and seasoned. Sauce is red onion, garlic, tarragon, oregano, semi dried tomatoes, leftover saffron infused stock from a risotto last week, double cream.

Just realised I forgot to add parmesan!

Mrs Beer has some people around today. She made a surprisingly nice kinda cake (not sweet) from mostly sweet potato and yellow split peas. I made the sauce from the batata harra talked about a bit back this thread as a topping for it. Worked really well.

I also made a broad bean salad, baba ganoush and hummus. A pretty nice spread with wholemeal flatbreads.

Hospital lunch. Or is it dinner?

Haddock which was nicely cooked and boneless with mash, carrots and lots of white sauce. Tomato soup too.

    Not shabby!
