Vodafone/Sky over Virgin Media connection

I had a call to my apartment door the other day from a Vodafone salesperson, telling me that I can now get Vodafone via some partnership with Virgin Media.

I've looked this up, and it seems like it only applies to Virgin's fibre network, which I'm pretty sure I'm not on. I only have the old VM coax connection in my living room, and Virgin offer me 1GB max. There's definitely no ONT anywhere.

SIRO and OpenEir say they're not available at my address, although someone did install a little box on the ceiling just outside my apartment door about a year ago, which I believe is related.

Both Vodafone and Sky's websites tell me I can get 1GB broadband from them.

Is this a mistake maybe? If not, how does it work?
