    Hi all,

I just received an email from the Sky broadband indicating an increase of €4 per month from 02.06.2025. However, I am still in contract with them until September 2025.

    Could they increase price?

    Thanks

Yes unfortunately, they will increase the price. Every April Sky, Eir, Vodafone and Three increase prices whether in contract or not. Eir, Vodafone and Three state this when signing up clearer than Sky. Sky just have in the T&Cs that prices may increase during contract.

There are smaller providers who do not do this practice of increases every April such as Pure Telecom and Digiweb.

You should be able to get out of your contract now and move to a cheaper one.

Yes as Sky didn’t mention at the start how much it was going up by during the contract, you should be able to leave.

Comreg - "If your contract includes a built-in price increase, you generally cannot switch or exit your contract without a penalty, unless you are outside your minimum term. However, if your contract does not include a built-in price increase or if you are outside your minimum term, you can switch without penalty if your price increases."

Sky - "6.2. If we increase the price of the Sky Broadband package or the Sky Talk package, we will notify you of this at least a month in advance, during which time you may end your subscription under that Contract if you contact us on 0818762917, confirming that you wish to do so."

Thanks. Can you please share the link to this? I will ring the customer service and quote this. They may agree to stay on the same price, which is €30/month.

BTW, is there any other SIRO broadband for €30 a month or less?

    Comreg Annual Price Increases -

Sky are offering new customers 1Gb for €35 without an increase this year so maybe you could get them to give you that. They are only applying the price increase to the 500Mb this year for new and existing customers.

Most providers are offering SIRO 500Mb for €35 - Vodafone, Digiweb, Pure Telecom. €38 for 1Gb with Digiweb.

    Thank you 😊

500 mbps if sufficient for my needs and it will be €34/month after the price increase from SKY, which is still the cheapest SIRO.

I believe this is the first time that Sky have increased their prices - I was with them 2 years ago and they didn't increase it mid-contract - I paid €30 per month at the time

I’m with them for TV and they have for the last 3 years, I think they started increasing the broadband 2 years ago. The new customer price has stayed the same for years but the existing customer price now seems to be going up every year for both but the 1Gb was excluded this year for some reason.

If having a landline is important to you the Digiweb 1GB plan is worth a look as it includes free calls to UK and Ireland - mobiles and landlines.

my mistake didn't read the full email. the second half listed the 500mb package and up to 70mb packages at 30 euro month that* is tied to . had just glanced at the email. as I currently paying Vodafone 35 for landline and broadband, on the older FTTC connection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 510 ✭✭✭in2dark

Dont know. Didnt want to stay as i have issues with their connection.

I guess if you call the number found on the email you got you connect with the retention team and they offer whatever they can to keep you.

I called them to cancel and they offered me smtg i didnt want to listen to.

The email got my cancellation in no time

My current provider is discontinuing the my line of sight service. What are Sky like to deal with? Once ordered how long does it take for installation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,336 ✭✭✭masterboy123

They are good to deal with. Received equipment within the week with just plug in Installation for SIRO.

    Were you with Imagine Broadband?

They said they were shutting down their wireless service as fibre becomes available in the area.

    Ya.

I know the fibre only comes to.the cross 600m from me. I'm in the countryside.so they will have to bring it a long distance.

Not a problem, once any required poles are in place the reel of fibre cable is about 4000m long

did anyone manage to move from the 30 sky package to 35 sky gig package whilst in contract?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,783 ✭✭✭NotShero

You can leave within 1 month of the price increase notice and join Vodafone 1Gb €35 or Digiweb 1Gb €38 instead, as they have changed the terms of the broadband contract on you.

Pure Telecom offering €40/12 months, or €30/12 months + €50/6 months (18m contract).
Stated that other providers are enforcing CPI, and they don't.

"No chance of matching or meeting other provider offers [such as Sky for €30]".
