Just looking for general advice on here.

318 Diesel, 2012. Engine blown, mechanic says Just to scrap it. Is there any market out there, say if someone bought it and put in new engine as a doer upper? Last nct report was decent so it's not a complete heap of *****.

    Or just scrap it???

    Thanks

    Cheers kincaid,

Just to confirm I'm getting rid of it, just looking at best option. Ideally whatever I can get is going into replacement car fund....

Possible options for you OP in descending 'value' order.

Breaking and selling parts from it yourself if you have the time and space.

Trying to sell as is on DD/Adverts damaged repairables section.

    Scrapping.

Fixing. (This will probably cost you more than it's worth as your mechanic advised)

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

Its probably worth putting a second hand engine in it, but if your set on selling it you will get a lot more than just the scrap value.

Contact BM Automotive, he seems to buy a lot of BMW’s with bad engines.
