Never was a man under such pressure tieing his boots!

I'd have tied my boots together under that pressure

We are so so frustrating. Not much creativity, seem to make the same mistakes time and time again.

A game we could have won, strong performance and a LBP....should be happy but the lads could have won this one.

Did Lenihan mention Smith, for the first time there.

He seems a little lost out there.

Dissapointing. I taught we lost our way when we took off the half backs. Patterson was playing well and Scannell isn’t a 10.

    Some positives I suppose.

    Another game

    Another rake of tries conceded

Didn't have the squad depth on the bench to see that one out. Glasgow's bench made a big difference. There's a few guys who were out there tonight who really need to be replaced. Archer, Ryan, the Whycherly brothers etc.

Could be an important BP though

That was an annoying game. We had some good moments and so absolute rubbish. Feels like a bad loss now.

So dissapointing. Just too much loose stuff from Munster. Not acceptable against Glasgow in their backyard

    Good game though

When 11pts up on 66min. Munster seemed to be in a great position. Those poaches were a killer.

Shame we didn't have the peripheral internationals available on the bench even. Would have been the winning of it. More points gone in a very tight table

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,227 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

Exactly. People also need to remember the difference in experience on the bench.

Hopefully we can keep the level up next week when we have the internationals (and hopefully Casey and Kleyn) back.

Showed some good stuff at times. Ahern and Coombes the best for us, too many turn overs at the rucks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 872 ✭✭✭bingobango12

Think if you had kept the starting 9 & 10 on longer you’d have won that. Half back subs were poor.

Hard to know. These two matches in Georgia and Portugal will be very much about emerging players. Both Coombes and Ahearne are known quantities in many respects.

If I were to pick a lock and backrow that might well go ahead of them due to being superior prospects, it would be Edwin Edogbo and James McNabney

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,066 ✭✭✭almostover

How do those 2 guys get gametime for Ireland so? Coombes has 2 caps and Aherne has none. Surely they are the exact type of players who we needs to be giving time in green to? Proven at URC and CC level and ready to take the next step

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,227 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

    Georgia and Romania isn't it?

These tours always have the senior players not involved in the Lions tour and the second string players involved. The emerging tour was in SA last October.

Coombes was incredible. Ahern likewise. Very impressive.

Rory at 10 is an emergency option and showed. Thought it was Butlers best munster performance.

Smith carried hard but a bit exposed defensively.

Farrell is a real creative spark.

The nuts and bolts in the pack though continue as issues. Not sure what barron brings really. Fineen is so limited.

Fineen is limited, Josh even more so. These are the type of guys who we have to start finding replacements for really to move up to the next level.

Fineen is playing because we're missing Beirne, Kleyn and Edogbo.

Milne is coming next season and we have Loughman.

    We already have replacements.

Only one time to be ahead and that's the final whistle but I'd have taken a LBP before kick off.

We knew our bench was never going to win and do it came to pass. We played some excellent rugby just a shame we couldn't get that vital last try.

If we played like that v Edinburgh we'd have had a 5 pointer rather than a 2 pointer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,416 ✭✭✭letowski

Josh and Fineen were very poor in their tackle attempts for the Fagerson try. Unfortunately that’s the 3rd choice TH lock there, it’s games like this where you miss a Klyen or Egdobo’s power in the tight.
Scannell and Coughlan didn’t manage the last 20mins at all well. With the wind at their backs and defending a lead, we should have engaged Glasgow in more kicking duels for territory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,775 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Before the game you'd be pleased with a point. 11 points up though and we did nothing smart. And coughed up errors. Once we gave access they got momentum. One very bad lineout comes to mind. Quinn not rolling for one. Gleeson not dropping on a ball for another. Just errors. Frustrating after doing so well to get into a winning position.

The issue isn't Fineen or his position in the squad but rather how often he is needed to play with no subs to even come on for him. He is a necessary squad member but very limited. Doesnt possess the same abilities of a mick o driscoll or billy holland.

Seems to be a continuous issue now. Beirne kleyn Edwin ahern all ahead of him but he plays alot.

Issue at front row much bigger where our close to first teamers aren't at the level.

    Happy with Butler..good showing

    Some great grunt from SOB

Farrell again shows great hands...he's been a super signing.

Bench let us down & couldn't compete with Glasgows power bench.

Really should have Crowley,Murray & POM as options for the last 25 mins...they are not exactly wrecked from playing big minutes in the 6 nations.

Finian had a few brain farts but to tbf to him he's been a big squad player this years & has improved a ton this season...penalties kill him tho.

A few more bodies back & the game in castlebar will be a belter

That's one of the reasons why Smith drifted out of contention for us at Connacht. He has enormous potential but when his decision making is stressed he still looks like a sevens player. The other side of it is not having the instinct to finish or recycle fast ball when he makes a good break. There was definitely a case of that there tonight too.

I'd love to see him succeed but he needs to bring more to his game.

If my maths is right Edinburgh and Connacht winning with BPs, and a decent points difference for Connacht, could potentially put us 8th in the table

Benneton and Ospreys are their opposition respectively

    We play Connacht next week

Got the LBP in the end but it rings a bit hollow having let the lead slip after O Brien's try.

The attacking pods in midfield looked very predictable and Glasgow defended them well. Coombes still managed to make a few meters when he carried, but most didnt.

Butler was good, hopefully he can continue to progress.

Patterson's pass is like a bullet. The ball coming back to him was very slow though. Lots of semi-choke tackles giving Glasgow time to reset.

I also like Ben O'connor at full -back. Hope he can continue improving.
