I'm here because I'm a long time Munster supporter.

A quick google suggests Burns is only on a one year deal so one of Burns or Crowley will likely sign an extension

Ok so reading between the lines … they won't be extending that deal hence JJ comes back into the fold.

Good to see Campbell back. He could actually see game time straight away given all the injuries. Its quite a pity the likes of him and Edwin Edogbo have been injured for so long, because they would have seen ample playing opportunities these past couple of years given all the injuries to the rest of the squad.

Exciting to see that back-row selection in action!

I know Ben Brownlee had been training short term with us but I didnt think he'd be available til end of season.

    Good to see him in.

Is it on Access tv or anywhere else?

I forget which currency but isn't 700k an awful lot of money to be throwing around for Leicester Tigers?

How many players are earning that kind of money? What happened to them all being broke and salary caps etc?

I know 10s are up there with higher earners.

Rumours of Cambell joining Glasgow. Apparently he’s Scottish qualified?

They got a new investor 18 months ago, worth about 15m euro.

    From Cian Tracey on X

Calvin Nash injured his ankle in training on Wednesday and was heading for a scan yesterday.

Big blow for Munster, who already lost another winger Shane Daly to a bad hamstring injury whilst playing for Ireland ‘A’ a few weeks ago.

Nash was due to travel to Rome as a reserve.

I only have one word for that news. Bollox.

    Another full blown injury crisis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Yes it is a very high figure. I think the idea is that the baseline figure is much lower but that Crowley could stand to make €700k when you include bonuses for scoring points etc.

Remember they were potentially looking to replace him with Pollard who was likely on much more than what they are offering here and, unlike Pollard, Crowley won't have any international commitments if he goes

Casey Klyen & JoD shoving nearer a return to play.

Casey & Klyen return would be like 2 new signings at this point in the season

Casey and Kleyn could be available for Connacht according to Costello.

The internationals will be back for that game too.

Any word on Edogbo’s recovery? Is he likely to be available before the end of the season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭CONSI

Id be amazed if they risked edogbo before the end of the season, there's little upside to it, let him recover, get a good pre-season and see what he can bring next year. A second row of edogbo and kleyn adds some serious grunt we have been missing, back row of beirne, Aherne and coombes would be an interesting mix, with hodnett, kendellan, gleeson to come in when needed.

agree on edgobo…..wonder what long term situation with salmoa is ….played very little and constantly injured ….if there’s doubts long term we need to look elsewhere for a solution in this key position …Ryan and archer ,great servants but we won’t win trophies relying on them ….jager flatters to deceive so far and injured a lot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,852 ✭✭✭snotboogie

He'd be looking at 20 months out of the game then which would have its own set of downsides. He's passed most timeline expectations for a long term achilles injury already, it would be good to see him get some minutes at the end of April or into May to be an option for potential URC play offs and even the Irish Sumer tour. Hope he hasn't had a setback.

As strong as we could have hoped considering the injuries and rest to the Irish contingent. Wood the reserve outhalf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,333 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Surely Crowley and Murray could have been released for this game? they have played feck all rugby the last 2 months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

Played very little rugby but probably trained as hard as everyone else and have been in camp since mid to late January, they're surely entitled to a break away with their families

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,226 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

Unsurprisingly Glasgow have their internationals available. Any points out of this would be good.

1 Jamie Bhatti, 2 Johnny Matthews, 3 Patrick Schickerling, 4 Jare Oguntibeju, 5 Alex Samuel, 6 Euan Ferrie, 7 Sione Vailanu, 8 Jack Mann.

9 George Horne, 10 Adam Hastings, 11 Kyle Steyn (C), 12 Stafford McDowall, 13 Ollie Smith, 14 Sebastian Cancelliere, 15 Kyle Rowe.

    Replacements

16 Grant Stewart, 17 Nathan McBeth, 18 Sam Talakai, 19 JP du Preez, 20 Gregor Brown, 21 Matt Fagerson, 22 Ben Afshar, 23 Duncan Weir.

ah they dont really, its a very much a mixed bag of bit-part players.

they have no Dempsey, Darge, Cummings, Z Fagerson, Dobie, Jordan, Sutherland, and Jones.

i think of the whole named 23 none of them made more than 1 start in the 6N, apart from the benched M Fagerson (who made 3)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭budhabob

Interesting BB isn't included but isn't on the injury list either

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,226 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

Burns, Jager and Niall Scannell are listed as having picked up knocks in training on the team announcement.

It's more that they've got 9 returning players available to them and definitely have a much stronger bench. Munsters bench has no cover for second row or proper 10 cover and has a 20 year old hooker with 15 mins senior experience.

  • Subscribers, Paid Member Posts: 44,223 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

ah yeah, its a stronger glasgow line up than during the 6N, but i guess i just took issue with the statement that "glasgow have their internationals back" when really they dont have their main internationals back, only the bit-part scottish squad members.

bookies have it -7, which i dont think is unsurmountable for that munster team.

Whatever about Crowley, who will have summer tour commitments, I don't understand why they'd keep Murray, or indeed POM, out. Leave it to the players and Munster to decide.

I've given him big benefit of the doubt ahead of his arrival and for a bit chunk of the season but at this stage I'd have Crowley, Butler and Wood getting gametime from here on in.

The move just hasn't worked out for him unfortunately.
