Teslarati is the Fox News or Breitbart of electric vehicle news, they're Pro-Tesla.

Anyway, that poll is hilariously easy to manipulate. Somebody with only entry level coding experience + ChatGPT can create a simple application to spam the answer they want to win. So it doesn't surprise me why it swung from a majority voting no initially, to favouring the Yes vote since the news broke to an international audience.

Let the sales figures in Germany be the true 'poll'. At present, Germans are rejecting Tesla, sales have plummeted.
With the release of Juniper, sales may return to normal. I doubt it, but we'll soon see.

Why do think Tesla dealerships were being targeted before he did the Sieg Heil?

Since apartheid Clyde bought twitter, he continiuously promoted antisemetism, promoted hate speech, spouting racist rhetoric, spreading disinformation, tried to undermine and influence democracy of various countries. Hate speech on twitter skyrocketed.

Before his aquisition of twitter, during covid, he made a post on twitter comparing Justin Trudeau to Hitler because of Canada's covid lockdown approach, then there was the cave rescue pedo comment controversy, then he basically called for Dr Fauci to be prosecuted.

So when a poll confirms your bias it's gospel, when the same poll upends that earlier bias it's been manipulated. You go one further and suggest it was manipulated by AI not people. That's quite something.

The source of the news is irrelavant as the poll is still active, the source does not alter the poll results. Attaching it to right wing sources is silly as the facts are still the facts, the poll is now positive for Tesla.

With the impending 2035 ICE ban you'll probably be safe enough not buying an EV for a few years.

But Tesla is probably the best value at the moment in terms of EV if you want good charge speeds and decent battery sizes so you would be right to not look elsewhere but the landscape is changing on that front too

Why do think Tesla dealerships were being targeted before he did the Sieg Heil?

Same reason any car dealership gets targeted. Random acts of violence

He made the reasonable point that sales figures going forward are gonna be the true metric. Given the fact Europe is about to be hit with tariffs, it's likely consumers will be looking at them even less favourably. Germans even more so given some of the things he's been doing lately.

Let me clarify my stance for you. That online poll can be easily manipulated by the anti or pro Tesla side, so it isn't gospel for me. My 'gospel', as I already mentioned, are the sales figures.

I'm not saying it could have been manipulated by 'AI', you're misunderstanding the point I'm trying to make.

For example, you can open a incognito tab in your browser, paste that website poll URL, vote in the poll, close the tab, open a new incognito tab and vote again ad infinitum. Therefore, it is very easy to code a simple app to automate that process.
You can do all of that without 'AI'(ChatGPT), all it takes is some extra googling and more time.
If you were a complete novice, you could do it with lots of help from ChatGPT. It's not extremely complex.

that’s always been the case, we know there’s a new model on the way possibly two. 12mts sales figures is the only true metric. The rest is noise.
Some Germans might even be encouraged to buy one now who might never have considered an EV.
The Germans need to up their game quickly, they’ve a price problem though, wages are too high in the likes of VW, not sure how they’re going to fix that with anything but huge layoffs.

Continuous months of declined sales will be very much a sign of things to come. The hugely negative pr around Tesla is unlikely to make somebody more likely to buy one and Musk being in Trumps ear during a trade war with Europe is not gonna help the brand.

You could also use Grok.😎, my point is there was no issue with the poll until the results changed as more people voted.
Those early results went global though via a media fixated on attacking Musk at every opportunity.

I agree, there's no doubt a proportion of those acts were random, but it's not unreasonabe to say a proportion could be politically motivated due to Musk's disgusting behaviour given his global reach and influence.

Because the poll results did not correlate with sales figures.

With lower sales figures incoming I also wouldn't rule out an insurance job

Regardless my local ford dealer got broken into and cars vandalised a few months ago and it didn't make the front page news. All a lot of sh1te news that the EV community don't need at the moment

This is getting a bit out of hand, listing owners locations so you can go unlease your artistic flair on their cars, seems to be limited to the US at the moment.

I wonder how they got the names and addresses, bit ironic calling Musk a Nazi while hunting down Tesla owners.

Tesla managed to alieniate the very people who actually buy their cars.

The liberal left who care about the environment etc.

The right wing think climate change is a hoax and hate electric cars.

Wow. How can you mess up something so big and simple as Tesla in a few months.

    Unbelievable.

    More Tesla's burning in Vegas

I don't condone it, but once again demonstrates what that twat has done to his car company

Musk shared information of a judges daughter, on twitter. A judge that ordered the federal government to unfreeze billions in grants to various departments that DOGE cut. She is now likely to face intimidation and threats.

    Will you condemn his actions?

He is a disgusting, psychopathic individual who is not fit to run a company like Tesla. He is unstable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,471 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

That’s a very simplistic way of looking at what went on there. No I will not condemn his actions in rooting out corruption and government waste with his Doge initiative. It’s needed here and in Brussels.

I don’t find him disgusting and a psychopath, some things he does are a bit stupid but weigh that against the amazing things and I’ve an overall positive opinion.

He’s not fit to run Tesla, look at the VW group, huge job losses in Germany, yet Tesla is expanding in Berlin. It’s a bit of a stretch to say he’s ruined the company.

Mod Note: Not the thread to discuss DOGE

No doubt Tesla the EV car brand which we are discussing in an EV forum is being affected by elons non Tesla adventures in politics.

    Did I do that right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,719 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

It's fairly believable I'd say. The money went to his head, the Biden administration snubbed him, twitter etc. In hindsight his actions were actually quite foreseeable for the last number of years

Tesla is 1 of the 5 companies he is CEO of and he owns just 13% of the shares. His involvement with Tesla would be best described largely as minimal but the key thing is it's the only product in his empire that the public have direct access to. This makes it both an easy target and RTE will be happy

If he stays on as CEO past the next investor meeting, that would be unbelievable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,471 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

Why would it be unbelievable if he stayed, he’s delivered for investors, pushed the industry forward. In the last few weeks he’s delivered for the shorts, everyone is winning, his European competition is imploding, VW lending rate has being downgraded.
There’s competition in China, but it’s realistically 2/3yrs before that really comes on line here according to Xiaomi’s CEO the other day.
It’s his baby no better man to fight tooth and nail to keep it growing. Some generic suit afraid of upsetting a few screaming lefties won’t have the same ambition, in the wrong hands it could really be sunk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,719 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Because if the current crash in sales and share price continues investors will feel that he has sopped delivering for them. Once that happens they can either fire him or continue to lose money. If you were an investor, what would your preference between the two be?

I'd expect Tom Zhu to be given the position, he was responsible for getting the Gigafactory in Shanghai up and running and would be seen as a stable choice focused on delivering on vehicle manufacturing. Appointing him would be like replacing Steve Ballmer with Satya Nadella.

I think Tesla has done some of its best work when Elon stays out of the way, he's given way too much credit which takes away from the engineering expertise that's the real reason the company made good products.
