Part of me wonders if it's on purpose to mess with bots. Probably not though :)

Purchased a Blu-ray box set on Amazon UK last Saturday, €30 with 2 day delivery. Amazon Ireland €96. 220% increase.

Honestly i doubt they would as they more often than not don't understand the difference between NI and ROI or are aware NI is in the UK.

Think ill be waiting to switch for a while to see what the verdict is

No. Amazon have always handled this, for items sold by Amazon or shipped by Amazon. Market place items shipped directly by the seller are not handled by Amazon, so you may have additional charges on delivery.

Lots of people complain about Amazon since Brexit, but I've never had additional charges and use it weekly. I'm going to stick with UK for now.

I did order an outdoor solar powered motion activated spot light which was on special offer on the IE website this morning. Got it for €47 with free delivery. Arriving next week. Same product on UK site would be £61.50 today, but delivery is 1 day sooner.

    how much is a firestick?

I was idly looking at cameras on the .ie and .co.uk sites and the selection showing on .ie was shocking. 10% of what's in the UK site. And I don't mean the "cannot be delivered to your selected location" message - I mean they just didn't show up at all on .ie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 272 ✭✭iancairns

Yeah but when I go to pay on UK location there's postage there now.

It's about 20 seconds less time than it takes logging into boards to ask anyone else what you could find out yourself in literally, 5 seconds. Like literally. Type amazon.ie firestick into a search engine and that's it. Try it some time.

Not a great start with .ie

Seller cancelled an order and sent me this:

I am very sorry we are unaware as to how we are suddenly international sellers dealing in Euros! Amazon are clearly trying to convert us to all be interanational. Unfrtunately we have no choice but to cancel this order as we are not IOSS registered.

Not putting this on Bargain Alerts (not sure it's a bargain but I think it probably is) - but the

NOCO Boost X GBX45 1250A 12V UltraSafe Portable Lithium Car Jump Starter

is about €179 (converted from Sterling) on the UK website, but €134 on the Amazon.ie website. Ironically, you can't buy it on the UK website as it's battery related. Same item is €175 on Halfords.

Just in case anyone interested in a jump starter (I needed one last night, so purchased today!)

Same here, order cancelled by a marketplace seller. I did not get any explanation, but I had suspected it was likely to end that way, because the seller is based in Italy, it was a niche product and yet was offered for next day IE delivery, so obviously they only sell in Italy and somehow their products got listed on the IE site. Actually, most if not all of such odd offers come from Italian businesses - just check the Grocery section. Maybe there is something wrong with marketplace sellers configuration on amazon.it.

I'm now wondering about all those offers that are only visible after clicking on "See All Buying Options", with the best price offer not shown on the product page, but then most of them turn out to be Free delivery e.g. https://www.amazon.ie/Baseus-External-Battery-Outputs-PPAD000101/dp/B08XQ43HZT I suspect they were not meant to be available on Amazon.ie at all.

Usual small market launch mess. It's a pattern.

Anyone else feel that amazon.ie is just another thing that will cost us more money overall. I put my money on them ceasing delivery from amazon UK and being forced in the end to take delivery from more expensive Irish amazon.

not sure how this is supposed to work. I have an account with amazon uk for many years, I mainly use the amazon app on my iPhone. When I go to the Amazon app and country/region, I get presented with below, there is no options for Ireland

Should we get an option for Ireland in the app. Or do we not use the app and instead use a browser and www.amazon.ie

Or do I have to re link my amazon uk account to amazon ie account

    or None of the above

It's never been 100% the same anyway on Prime if you access from the UK or Ireland, so I suspect you won't see much difference, if any.

It's not been a huge difference though.

I'm with Eir for broadband/tv . Looks like they are upgrading anyone who has prime video to full Amazon Prime for free with the new Irish site

Just opened the app and got below. Android version update on the 4th. Also got a notification on my device today after signing in on site!

    amazon.ie option

I took the screen shot and changed app and lost the option but checked settings and it is listed: -

Quoting from Conor Pope article in the Irish Times:

Yes, Amazon.ie will give Irish shoppers choice. But no, it’s not ‘good news for all’

Retailers face challenge of working with online platform or going head-to-head with it for business

"… For consumers, there will be more choices to make and they must be made with eyes wide open.

The Prime service, which facilitates quicker deliveries and offers access to its streaming service and special sales events for a monthly fee of €6.99, is also good news. That compares to £8.99 a month for Amazon Prime service in the UK.

However, the cut-price subscription for Prime does have on big drawback - Family Sharing is currently not included for subscribers to Prime on Amazon.ie, which means people in the same household cannot share benefits between them as they do on the UK site.

Recent research from Wolfgang Digital suggests that Amazon already takes in between €1.5 billion to €2 billion from Irish shoppers. Up to 12 per cent of all online spending in Ireland is flowing through the site. With a dedicated local presence, the figure is expected to climb.

The prices for many popular products are broadly similar on the UK and Irish sites. The Amazon fire stick which retails in the UK for £40.98 is on sale on the Irish site for €47.63 (£40.09).

The most up-to-date Kindle reader which sells in the UK for £93.57 can be bought on the Irish site for €113.13 (£95.22). A pair of Sony noise-cancelling headphones which retail on the .co.uk site for £131.08 sell for €142.58 (£120). A Ninja Air Fryer which costs UK shoppers £169.99 costs shoppers on the new Irish website €207.85 (£174.94).

That is not, however, the full story. After proceeding to the checkout on the UK site and when all the customs and other charges were added to the total and converted to euro, it came it at €558.42 compared to €511.19 when bought off the .ie site.

The delivery dates also work in the .ie domain’s favour and users of that platform can expect to have them on Thursday while it will take until Saturday for at least some of the products to arrive if bought on the .co.uk platform. Delivery is free when bought on either platform."

The second last paragraph makes for interesting reading… Would some of the "basket items" quoted in posts above suffer this at check-out point?

So far I'd say the irish amazon will be good for items fulfilled by Amazon with regards to time of delivery, the free delivery on your first order is good and when spend over €50 so shop wisely.

In time it will get better I'm sure but UK sellers will probably stick to selling though the UK only amazon

That's as stupid as someone in the market for a new EV but immediately discounting a M3 Highland for well under 40k because of the guy at the helm. Total bollox.
