It says this in the article:

"I just went back to do a day," Lithgow told Variety. "They’re rebooting the entire Michael C. Hall version of Dexter. And it turns out he didn’t die after all. I come back sort of as a phantom, as he gradually comes to life on a hospital bed."

So, Lithgow is referring to Dexter not dying. He's not referring to himself as not dying. That would be messed up.

    oh, I read it wrong.

I was raging about him coming back and the blatant unmarked spoilers I was like wtf!

    ok carry on.

Not your fault. Typical misleading clickbaity type headline.

John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits returning, has to be as ghosts of murder past

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,604 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

    Yes.

In a recent interview with Variety, Lithgow confirms that viewers shouldn't expect to see the Trinity Killer beyond a brief cameo in Dexter: Resurrection. The actor reveals that he returned for only one day of filming, with his character appearing as a "phantom" to Dexter as he awakens in the hospital.

I just wish they weren't bringing Harrison back.

God, I'd love it if they killed him off in the first episode. He's such a drip and takes the fun out of the show. I just want one season where they let Dex off the leash, by himself, with no family baggage to slow him down. Dexter in New York is a great concept ("Dexter Takes Manhattan") but they'll screw it up again with Dexter trying to be "good." At least James Remar is back.

I don't care whether he gets killed off or just disappears into the ether. I just hate that smug face of his.

Also, him having a "dark passenger" doesn't really make sense to me. I know season 4-5, when Dex found him in Rita's blood he was concerned he would be damaged just like he was. But, Harrison was much younger, and was left alone for a couple of hours. Dex was left in the cargo container for days.

I just feel Harrison being like Dex has been squeezed in without too much thought(so like the later seasons of Dexter then).

no need to watch it at all with this trailer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,604 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

6 weeks or there abouts to go.

Based on that. Errrrr less excited now than I was.

And I'll have to do a rewatch of New Blood first and suffer through that smug little face again.

A rewatch does have one major benefit.

seems like it's gonna be run of the mill killer meh.

No, what I get from that trailer is Peter Dinklage as a Billionaire is a collector of killers, and "somehow" finds out about Dexter and tries to add him to the collection. And Dex is all like "Oh, he gets me but does not judge me.. I could learn something from him".

Come to think of it, for a psychopathe, Dex can get very needy in the first couple of episodes of a season.

I didn't watch it all as it was fecking showing way to much

Watched the opening two episodes last night they were alright not great but good to see James James Remar back.

I meant a rewatch of New Blood has one benefit. Angela is absolutely stunning.

Watched the first episode. Some good, some not so good.

    Best part was:

    Doakes: Surprise Mother****er!

    and

    Angel being back.

    Not so good:

A seemingly Harrison-centric episode. That cleanup in a busy New York Hotel, seemed implausible.

Plus, quite a bit more graphic than previous series.

Oh and one minute Dex can't walk 6 feet and the next he's climbing out of windows and giving Angel the slip. Nonsensical.

Good start, but then I remember New Blood started well.

Though I'm wondering where he gets all his money from.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes. Based on the trailer, it's going to get better too.

That is one of a number of questions.

Angel visits him in hospital, and says to him: "Isn't it weird that your girlfriend tells me she thinks you are the Bay Harbor Butcher, and Maria La Guerta told me she thought you were the Bay Harbor Butcher - just before she died. And then you faked your own death, changed your name and moved to the opposite end of the country"

What does Dex do then? Absconds from the hospital and gives Angel the slip, steals a car, and makes a big deal about getting his drivers license under his real name.

I thought rule 1 of The Code was "don't get caught". If he continues on the ways he's going, he's not going to stay resurrected for long.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes. Based on the trailer, it's going to get better too.

You have a lot more faith than I do.

@LambshankRedemption I know if you look closely, you'll see cracks in the logic, the story, the history and everything else. I'm just looking to be entertained, and I'm entertained. 🙂

It's pure popcorn TV and will be forgotten pretty soon after the season ends.

Same problems as the last season: too much of that drip Harrison, and associated ****, boring characters. Nobody cares about him. Nor the maid. Nor the detectives. Nor the hotel manager. It's such a drag when the focus is on him and his life.

That Uber driver friend of Dexter (Blessing?) is probably the worst actor the show has ever had. Cringy bad. Poor Michael C Hall. The show only shows glimpses of its past glories when Dex is doing what he is supposed to do, that is, hunting down serial killers. The last 15 minutes of episode 3 were good, and I'm looking forward to him taking on a group of serial killers, led by Dinklage and Thurman. If that was the show, it would be fantastic but of course they'll ruin it with Harrison and the kindly immigrants bullshit.

The look of the show is horrible too. Not bright and colorful like the original series, but quite drab and dreamlike (not in a good way). I get that it's not Miami, but still. It's New York, it's a bright, lively place, not some morose purgatory.

Also it's set in New York but it could be anywhere. They have not used the location at all in the storyline (probably because it was shot somewhere in Canada?) I was looking forward to Dex going beast mode in the Big Apple, prowling Manhattan, maybe chopping up a Wall Street hedge fund manager, or something like that. Hopefully the coming episodes will use New York better.

I really hope the ones in charge of the serial killers know Dexter isn't who he says he is otherwise it makes them looks stupid. Are we to believe this secret group invited someone to join them without doing their research and at least know what the guy looks like. And the writers may want us to believe they look alike, but the differences are as plain as the nose on the guy's face.

Considering the wife of his new landlord was able to find out he's from Miami and do a full background check for 75 dollars, if Dinklage's billionaire character doesn't have the wherewithal to do something similar then you would wonder how he became a billionaire in the first place.

    As Artvandaley said:

    Yes agreed.

It seems to be a fashion now, every scene is dark and gloomy. It really makes you miss the days of Dexter season 1. Bright, sunny scenes, upbeat music. "Tonights the night" showed Miami on date night, so bright lights. Showing the city that never sleeps like it's Gotham is kind of annoying.

I'm conflicted. His cop ex girlfriend just let him go despite knowing he was a seriel killer?

But I watch out of habit.

They should have left him die in the last series. New blood.

I'm not gone on Harrison either but he isn't as bad as made out

I have to say, having been dubious and critical to begin with, I have to say Episode 4 is terrific. Still a few plot holes here and there, but overall very enjoyable.

    One thing though:

Considering Angel knows Dex is still alive, and knows Dex ran out on him at the hospital, and now has more than just a hunch that Dex is the Bay Harbor Butcher, why did he jump to the conclusion so quickly that Harrison killed and disposed of the guest? Surely he would assume Dex did it??

I really hope the ones in charge of the serial killers know Dexter isn't who he says he is otherwise it makes them looks stupid. Are we to believe this secret group invited someone to join them without doing their research and at least know what the guy looks like. And the writers may want us to believe they look alike, but the differences are as plain as the nose on the guy's face.

That aspect really really annoys me. They took a copy of his thumb for the thumb print, but they didnt get a picture?? Charlie broke into Red's apartment, found his trophies, even found his Vegan cook books(rolleyes) but they dont have a picture of him?

    Give me a break.

Episodes 4 and 5 have been the best episodes of Dexter in a long, long time. It felt like the old Dexter but going in a new direction. Even Harrison is starting to grow on me! Kristen Ritter has really improved things, and given Dex a good female foil (Uma Thurman hasn't done much yet but I imagine her character will grow in the second half of the season). Dex needs women around him - Rita, Debs, Hannah - to make things interesting. And Dinklage's story is building nicely. I'm genuinely excited to see what happens next.

Glad they have finally ditched trying to make Harrison the new Dexter. He is a reluctant killer, with a conscience and he feels guilt, unlike Dex, so now they actually have a dynamic that works well. I still have to forward the scenes with the family that live above Dex because they are so cringe and all their scenes are so shoehorned in. Hopefully they won't feature much going forward.

I think Batista's pushing his luck and is heading for the slab, and it might not be Dexter putting him there.
