I don’t think Russia is going to agree, I hope I’m wrong but just something doesn’t seem right.

Ukraines got rightly fucked in this “deal”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,058 ✭✭✭✭Mr. CooL ICE

I've likely missed it, but do we have specific details of the deal Ukraine agreed to?

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,753 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

They agreed to an initial 30 day ceasefire meditated by US if Putin does the same, hopefully leading to a full time ceasefire and maybe peace

But Putin for days now it seems is not interested in ceasefire or peace and his useful idiots and shills are also notably absent

what exactly did they get fucked on and where can one see this “deal”

I think the main concession was for Zelensky to acknowledge how great Trump was, how this deal couldn’t have been done without him. That Ukraine would have won the war in one day if Trump was Ukrainian president. The rest was irrelevant stuff really.

The pundits on Russian TV keep saying Russia has absolutely no reason to agree to a ceasefire at this point - they reckon they are 'winning' the war with Ukraine.

So the next move is agent Krasnov's…..

Does he increase pressure on his boss? does he arm Ukraine better?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,612 ✭✭✭twinytwo

That's the only option he has - if Putin wont talk as he is "winning" make it so he isn't. Extra sanctions wont be enough. Flood Ukraine with weapons.

A swift defeat in Kursk…..after they have been trying to defeat Ukrainians since last August? I wonder how many Russian lives this will cost?

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,753 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

7 months after the promised 7 days it would take to regain Kursk

anyways US envoy (some new lad) just landed in Moscow to get Putin’s reply

I suspect the usual suspects are quiet because they haven’t got the talking points handed down yet

Oh yes, he's already had a huge purge.

Just as worrying is he's gotten rid of all three Judge Advocate `generals sections, the legal arms, which is one of the things you'd likely do if you wanted to try and use the military in illegal and unconstitutional ways, such as against your citizenry.

    Putin rejects Trumps ceasefire

over to you Donnie, don’t forget to say thanks and wear a suit in front of Putin

Pages and pages of “wHy DoNt UkRaInIAnS WaNt PeAcE” type posts made a complete mockery off

The silence especially from the Putin supporting peacenik far left is deafening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,978 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

It will be very interesting to see what happens if and when Russia turn down the ceasefire offer. Will be very tricky for Trump as it was supposed to be Zelensky who was blocking the ceasefire.

They just did 15 minutes ago

Yeah sand in particular MIA for a while. Maybe they're waiting for a clear line to emerge from the Kremlin so they don't risk getting ahead of themselves

Will we have the Putin fans declaring him a warmonger now? Strangely absent...

Ukraine are playing this well. Agreeing to a ceasefire deal with the US but knowing it will never be accepted. Putin will make unreasonable demands that can't be accepted and it will look like Ukraine is looking to end the war and Russia aren't. Also forces the hand of the US. They won't be able to pretend that Ukraine is the one wanting to extend the war when quite literally the opposite is happening.

Realistically they are going to pressure Ukraine to accept russias demands, maybe without the Kherson oblast? Nothing this Administration does surprises me anymore

Foreign troops in Ukraine unacceptable, Russia says....

Oh great so you're leaving then?

Playing it as well as they can with a clearly non-friendly US not in their corner. I wouldn't count my chickens on what Donald Musk will say when asked about the smackdown of a ceasefire. It might just be along the lines of "why would he when he's winning I guess <shrugs shoulders>. Next question"

Here's a more positive, if a little too positive, interpretation of the Kurk goodwill gesture and how it benefitted the Donbas front.

Yes, it will be fascinating to see how the disciples and 'non warmongers' spin their favourite country and leader refusing to accede to a ceasefire.

Hasn't Poland doubled up on most of its purchases? So Abrams and S.Korean MBT , I think they've done the same with Himars and again a South Korean system, and similar with front line fighters -

Poland looked a bit bonkers a few years ago , huge military spend , duplicating systems ect , they look quite smart now though -

I suppose they've been down this road before , know the risks that geopolitical u-turns bring .

That's an odd way to look at it ..

Apparently the Russians are absolutely refusing to allow foreign troops on Ukrainian territory.. which is ironic when you consider the war started with foreign troops ( russian ) on Ukrainian territory..

As was said numerous times before Putin only understands getting kicked in the teeth. I think this is something Zelensky tried but failed to make Trump realise. You can only stop this war if Putin is losing. If Trump had any backbone he would go balls to the wall in on Ukraine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,893 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

This is a ceasefire agreement not a peace settlement. If Trump pressures Ukraine into accepting that requirement for a 30 day ceasefire it would show just how bad Trump is at negotiations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,893 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

Yeah they have doubled up and also looking to produce the Korean tanks in Poland on licence, so they are really planning long term.

It's almost certain that Russia are looking for concessions on sanctions before they'll agree to a cease fire imo.

Unfortunately, those conditions aren't ones Ukraine can refuse as a pre-cursor to any sham cease fire.

Putin wins on the triple here thanks to Agent Kraznov:

    1. He gets Kursk back as US Intelligence appears to not only have been pulled from Ukraine, but actually fed to Russia as part of Trump's strong-arming of Ukraine to agree to a ceasefire.
    2. He gets a 30 day ceasefire to allow his troups to regroup and redeploy many of those from Kursk back to the Donbas.
    3. He gets a cash boost to delay the collapse of the Russian economy when Trump lifts sanctions (and no doubt bullies other countries to do so too).

Europe (not the EU, that needs to be sidestepped as long as traitors like Orban exist within it and we'll want UK, Candadian, Australian assistance etc. too) needs to use these 30 days to absolutely FLOOD Ukraine with arms, get satellites launched to replace Starlink, send in troops (or "builders") to assist with fortification of the front and to organise any peacekeeping force and aerial cover for Ukrainian territory. Were I in Marcon's shoes, I'd also be looking at a mechanism to transfer 2 nuclear warheads to Ukrainian control (named "Moscow" and "Petersburg") but I can't see that, or most of the necessary steps being carried out

Russia was always getting cash via India laundering its crude oil and selling it onto western market as refined Indian oil, so really it a war of attrition.

Trump's betrayal cost Ukrainian lives and they will not forget that.

Really curious about Kursk and the timing of the current events. They seemed able to hold on then suddenly they are going backward fast.

Did Ukraine withdraw as part of a secret agreement to get US weapons or were they told that that holding Kursk wasn’t going to give them leverage so decided that troops would be better used in Donbas where they are making some gains. After everything we heard about the importance of Kursk over the past 7 months, very strange it collapsed in a few days with little advanced warning
