Donald Trump the Megathread part II - mod warnings in OP, Updated 18/03/25

As regards who the Democrats could get on board, I don't know enough about their Senators and Governors and any upcoming talent to really have any opinion; I have always fastidiously ignored American politics and have only become interested in their shitshow due to Trump and his itinerant Snake Oil Wagon.

Bernie Sanders is doubtlessly a good man, but he wouldn't have broad enough appeal and would be too radically "left" to win over the masses. Likewise with Tim Walz, a thoroughly decent man who has achieved a great amount for his constituents, but who wouldn't quite have what it takes either.

For some reason I keep thinking of Matt Damon, the actor.

Obviously, he's not a politician, but neither is Trump. He is, however, Democrat-leaning, a household name, youthful, emotionally intelligent, well spoken, humble, handsome and very importantly, it would seem for the USA, he has a full head of hair. I could easily imagine him bringing capable, sane people in to run the affairs of government.

I just googled it there while writing this and did in fact discover that his name has come up before in this regard, so I'm not the only one who has ever thought the same.

Anthony Scaramucci has also popped up recently in my YouTube feed. I didn't really know much about him other than the fiasco of him being the White House Spokesman and being mocked as a Trump sycophant, but I have to admit he comes across very well and is knowledgeable and given to talking sense. He also has first-hand experience of the Trump Circus and its exposure to it turned him firmly against him. He should definitely be included in the team.

JD Vance's cousin calls him out. A guy who actually know what he is talking about.

The one benefit is, we can see a mile off what their game is - any stunts and statements like this need to be called out by the western press- treat them as would Channel 4 News- with the contempt they deserve.

I. Assume that any country that has access to the ‘Twitters Service’ could have carried out the same SABOTAGE of the service that Musk is accusing Ukr of. I do not know if a MUSK company has the technology to almost instantly establish which country was behind the sabotage. But IF HE HAS NOT then he is a RIGHT THUG - to put it very mildly. I can only assume that he wants to weaken Ukr / ridicule VZ / pull his services that Ukr is using when he wants to .
It is utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly , utterly ,utterly utterly utterly utterly unbelievable what’s going on - most especially how Trump and his gang/advisers are TREATING Ukr and whats going on in the US re Musk, the effect of the EO , the utterances , in general , from Trump and most of his gang , the tarriff issue , etc, etc, etc, etc.

I'm sure that those behind Trump have a plan when it comes to these tariffs, but I'm reasonably confident it's not a plan designed to benefit ordinary Americans. And if those ordinary Americans don't like it, one half will blame Joe Biden and the other half will try to vote out Trump in those, ahem, free and fair elections which are sure to happen in 2028.

As an aside, that's probably good news for the Taoiseach tomorrow - the meeting with the media will be dominated by the trade war with Canada.

Several of the Democratic primary contests in 2016 and 2020 were open. Where was this youth vote to turn out and take him past Clinton/Biden? Whether or not he would have beaten Trump is irrelevant if he couldn't get past that beginning hurdle.

Isn't this what the israelis are doing with the Gazans now? I doubt Canada will actually make good on this threat.
