Well he does love branding. People should attach his name to every shìtty result of his actions. It'd drive him mental.

I'm sure Musk will be written out of the script before the end of the year.

Interesting takes doing the rounds on various US media.

Trump got back from Golf wherever last night, but his diary today has all been either cancelled or done behind closed doors and its the first weekday since inauguration that he hasn't held a TV access event in the White House of some sort.

    A) It reflects the seriousness of the growing crisis of confidence and sentiment in the Markets because of him and that his team may be scrambling to wargame a response and B) If the week continues like it began today, there's every chance the Taoiseach's Shamrock reception may not even happen at all.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Moscow was attacked by drones last night and peace talks commencing in Saudi today - given Musk’s comment that he believes Ukraine are responsible for the cyber attack on X, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if yet again, the US are orchestrating events in a way that they then wash their hands of Ukraine - I don’t believe Trump actually wants peace and it will suit him to have Russians on the doorstep of Europe - after a while, there’s an element of predictability with these clowns - unfortunately many of the predictions come true. If it’s bad for America and bad for the world and bad for peace, Trump and his goons are most likely doing what’s predicted they will do

Billionaires should not exist. Despite the peaceful transfer of power from one party to the other over the past 40 years, little has changed largely due to the Republicans. The billionaire class continue to erode workers rights and pour vast sums of money into lobbying to ensure the apple cart is not upset.

It's the reason why Bernie Sanders was so feared. Bernie could have been the Democrat presidential candidate in the past 3 elections but the Democrats would not yield power to an independent despite him being the best option by far. It's sicking to see one of the extremely rare great politicians being on the right side of history for their entire career, always fighting for the people, always supporting workers rights, fighting for universal healthcare and cheap education, to never become president. He is the GOAT of US politics.

I hope AOC will become president some day, she is probably the next Bernie.

I'd love to see the likes of MacKenzie Scott(Bezos ex wife) pour a billion into a radical left wing candidate's campaign if there is another election, as a big middle finger to Bezos and the Oligarchs

Russia's mouthpiece the Daily Mail forwards the advice it heard Russia offered the Australian Govt on hearing MR Albanese Govt said it would contribute troops as part of the peacekeeping force in Ukraine: Western boots on the ground are unacceptable to Russia. It will not remain a passive observer. This is not a threat, it is a warning. 'Russia has no intention to harm Australians, and Canberra can easily avoid trouble by simply refraining from irresponsible adventurism in the zone of the Special Military Operation. It would undermine peace.

The writer of the "adventurism" piece must have been rolling around laughing at that bit.

And the stupid will lap it up.

As if anybody with the capability to perform a ddos on a website wouldn't be capable of hiding or redirecting their bloody IP.

    🙄

It’s telling though isn’t it- instead of putting honest efforts into making peace- which obviously involves stepping away from the golf course for a while- instead they’re just inventing reasons and blame for it not happening - they’re so predictable

Also they're distributed by definition so the ips are gonna be originating from across the globe.

people actually buying the DDOS bullshit?

More than likely something critical broke and the people who could have fixed it or prevented the issue are long fired by neonazi muskrat

We will never know, but I cannot see a situation where the Dems running Sanders as a POTUS candidate ends up as anything other than a massive defeat.

US has shown itself time and again to be completely irrationally fearful of anything with even the whiff of socialism. Sanders would have been destroyed in the right-wing press with claims of communism, etc. thrown about. That he wanted to raise taxes, give your money away to immigrants, feed lazy children, etc.

Many Americans believe that taxes and social support are only for the lazy. They believe that if you work hard, you will succeed, and therefore, you won't need any of that, so why should you pay taxes for it?

the following scenario would suit Russia ‘ down to the ground’

(1)It gives the impression that it wants the war to stop followed by a peace settlement. There will be meeting after meeting with Ru coming up with all kinds of suggestions as to why Uk is not genuinely cooperating.

    (2) It will ‘agree’ to some kind of a partial stop to the war/ partial/ temporary break in it to give ‘peace a chance. ALL WITH A VIEW - from a RU perspective- TO REARMING/ BUILDING UO STOCKS AGAIN so as to have another go .

    (3) no matter what is decided RU will always make sure that the door is left ajar re returning to the continuation of it’s SMO. It never has any problem in concocting a reason for it’s actions

I don't see it shaking out like this: for Russia to seriously replenish the cessation would have to be total and lasting years. And that would necessarily involve security guaranteees for Ukraine that would make it very difficult for Russia to go again

This post is all over the shop. Russia is already on the "doorstep of Europe". It borders several European countries. Russia will not invade a NATO country. USA want those raw materials and it will get them.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,593 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

Oh yep, I think there might have been a ddos attack but old Twitter was designed to cope with one. So it's more just a sign of stupid cost cutting measures that has destabilized the platform. Or the alternative, somebody just broke something.

What a complete scumbag. The new standard of Trumpism is that acting the vindictive scumbag is normal. "Freedom of speech as long as it supports me"

“USA want those raw materials and it will get them.”

I don’t think it wants them that badly TBH- and if Russia keeps lobbing bombs across the border you won’t get American companies setting up shop there

Threaten a trade war with the literal world, drive your country towards recession.

    Art of the Deal.

I suppose it should dampen inflation.

    Genius.

It sounds remarkably similar to Liz Truss - a total moron who spooked the markets within weeks of becoming PM. The main difference being that Trump is a charismatic idiot with a cult like following.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

not many in his cult actually invest much

Elon (whom loudly criticised Trump in past) lost hundreds of billions destroying the reputation of two of his best companies and their collapse hasn’t hit the bottom yet

Donald showing support for President Musk…assume he'll be expensing it?

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/11/trump-buying-tesla-support-elon-musk-00223293

President Donald Trump is going electric.

In a flurry of late-night posts Monday on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump announced he will purchase “a brand new Tesla” in “a show of confidence and support” for Elon Musk, who is leading his efforts to slash the federal government.

Musk is “putting it on the line in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote, accusing “Radical Left Lunatics” of “trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers.”

So despite all the doge noise

Federal expenditure is up 75bn compared to this time last year

One positive from this is it'll negatively impact the growth of far right parties in Europe etc. Happened during his last presidency and can't see it not happening again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,332 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

100% - they needed his presidency to be a big success (and were practically banking on it). Noticeable too how many right wing commentators in the UK are now distancing themselves from Trump, especially since his attacks on Zelensky.

A major casualty in all this might be that grifter Farage. Has nailed his colours to Trump's mast and has even appeared at several of his rallies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,327 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

Yes, and unfortunately he and his loonies + toadies are not running a mid-large sized wealthy European country.

To make a frivolous analogy, they are madmen and arsonists in the wheelhouse of a giant supertanker, vs a madwoman set as captain of a fishing trawler or something!

Yep, I mean I actually think this ideological revulsion for modern European style socialism is the absolute #1 problem they have, and so many of their other problems stem from it — even, in my own opinion, the legacy of discrimination against black people. The origins of their anti-socialist culture stem from the American Dream of course, that if you came to America with ambition and work ethic you would succeed. They now struggle to cope with the post-capitalism American Dream, where those whose parents and grandparents already achieved the Dream have easier pathways to further Dream-achieving — and not everyone can succeed to the same level even if they are actually determined.

Success breeds arrogance though. Their stunning success as a global power — much of it just as much built on the fortune of their geographic and geopolitical location (and the ease of expanding their territory from coast to coast) as any other factor — has bred the arrogance that their success is due to their socioeconomic model being the best. Of course, many of them have somehow contrived however to believe that the plight of their ordinary citizens and working class is due to "left wing" Democratic policy and so-called "lefties" being more interested in gender theory than economics.
