    yes.

More so when he plays on the left side. on the right he tends to pass or cross a bit more.

I’d say Garnacho will be sold in the summer, possibly along with Mainoo. It might allow Amorim to bring in 3 or 4 players. If Garnacho could improve his finishing a little he could be a special player.

    garnacho yes, Mainoo no.
    imo.

Thought Garnacho played well, apart from Bruno he's our most attacking threat in carrying the ball in to the box.

If you don't watch UTD being that much he used to be way more selfish with the ball. He has kinda copped on from that a lot more since Amorim came in.

Would hate to see either go more so Mainoo. I'd get over Garnacho going but afraid he'll be class somewhere else.

Hasn't Mainoo said he wants out, he's not signing a new contract?

Thats TAA your thinking of or maybe Salah or possibly VVD

Ohhhh, you got him there. Clearly Utd have the brighter future!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 610 ✭✭✭FreshG

The Guardian are reporting that Mainoo will reject any new contract offer from Man Utd. Maybe that's thy the rumours of Man Utd cashing in on him are floating around.

Why are you bringing Liverpool players into a conversation about a United player?

It's been reported that he wants 180K a week and is willing to leave if he doesn't get that. Fair play to him, if he can get that money somewhere else then great for him but he hasn't done anything close to earning that money at United and I actually respect United for saying no. That's a real shift from their previous dealings where they'd be throwing money at players to keep them and that's what's gotten them in this absolute mess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,503 ✭✭✭The Rooster

The leaks about Mainoo looking for massive money and that he’s examining options abroad are very interesting. The ManU thread has gone from pretty much 100% against selling him to many now saying ‘who does he think he is’. Highly unlikely the leaks have come from Mainoo or his agent.

To me it makes absolute sense to sell Garnacho and Mainoo for 150m, which would allow Amorin have more than that to get players that fit the system. Coutinho was Liverpool’s best player when they sold him but didn't really fit the 4-3-3 of Klopp and allowed them to address massive weaknesses in defence.

From a journalist who has no connections to united whose last two articles on united were about pogba resigning on a free and Hannibal was about to make the jump to the first team so pinch of salt at the very least needed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,059 ✭✭✭Robson99

Where has Mainoo said he wants out ????

If you believe all you read in the papers .......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 610 ✭✭✭FreshG

You'll have to forgive me there. I saw it come from Jamie Jackson tweeting it, and I had assumed that he was reputable on the Man Utd front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 610 ✭✭✭FreshG

So you're saying don't believe the papers about Mainoo, but do believe the papers about Van Dijk, Salah & Alexander Arnold.....

    Silly season is here early.

Twas Will Unwin who wrote the article alright never heard or at least noticed him before that article, football news is a minefield tbf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,059 ✭✭✭Robson99

I never said that...I haven't seen a quote from Mainoo saying he wanted to leave...or any of the pool players either..my point was don't believe everything you read in papers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,400 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

I never said he said he wants out, I said it's being reported that he wants out.

I wasn't you I commented on originally...read the posts again

Anything I've read about Salah is that he wants to stay. He doesn't need to push to leave he could have signed a contract with someone already

The issue is the clubs valuation v his

I think he'll go, but to say he wants out is a bit odd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,275 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Offer him a 2 year contract with a bump in wages. Will give pool time to bring in his replacement and bed then in slowly.

He's shown that he's Mr. realible in that team. He hasn't regressed at all in his stats over the time he's played at Liverpool and this could be his best season yet. He's a 100% player and any club in the world would love to have him.

This is from a UTD fan, so would love to see shot of him to make Liverpool worse but as a footballing fan, he's unreal.

His contract talks shouldn't be in the same discussions as VvD and TAA.

    Salah is a game changer

I don't disagree but I'm skeptical that they'll get a deal done at this stage. But there's definitely still hope, it just needs both sides to compromise a bit you'd think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,275 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Thing with Salah vs say VVD and TAA is that Salah has been vocal about what he wants, to the public anyway via media. The other haven't afaik. I reckon Virgil stays, Trent is gone and Salah will stay and get his 2year.

Don't follow the club so can't comment really but looking in, it seems the most likely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,267 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

No, he's apparent rejected our first offer. And has 2+ 1 remaining. It's negotiations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,275 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Watching MotD, that ball from Kerkez was absolutely unbelievable for the goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,301 ✭✭✭Decuc500

A fine result for United considering there was nothing to play for and no one gave them a chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,599 ✭✭✭✭8-10

I just have a feeling that they might not be able to get it done for Salah. But yeah my opinion is mostly contrary to the noises we've heard which is that he'll stay, but I just don't think so.

Virgil has also said he'd stay. I was just replying to the suggestion from @Robson99 that all 3 of them want out. I don't see that at all, I think Trent wants to go to Madrid, but if Madrid weren't interested I don't think he'd be as bothered leaving to be honest. I don't think he wants out regardless it's more the opportunity presenting itself at the same time his contract expires

Virgil and Salah I definitely think want to stay if they get paid.

Salah has regressed physically imo. He doesn’t have the pace he once had, an element of his game where he could blow past defenders is gone, just as the vertical threat over the top he provides is lessoned compared to a few years ago.

He’s made up for that by adding better passing to his game, and this year has proved his most consistent on a game to game basis in terms of impacting the scoreboard.

But physical regression is present, and that will only go one way. If a two year deal could be agreed, okay. But any extension here can pretty quickly become a bad contract. Bad contracts at astronomical wages kill teams (Casemiro a good example to think about here, but Mane’s precipitous decline once he left Liverpool another type of example). And Liverpool can’t afford to have two of those contracts on the books at one time (one is too many tbh).

Winning a second title a fair way to end it, all things must pass.

TAA going to Madrid is the most disappointing one for me, as his best seasons are likely still ahead of him. ‘bUT he’S A BAd deFEndeR’ really misses the point with Trent - Real clearly see the vision anyway. But that’s the reality of Liverpool / Utd, they will inevitably lose some of their best players to Real if Real really want them. City never suffering such an affliction during the past decade is the single greatest indication of massive cheating imo.

Mané and Wijnaldum both good examples, both picked up by good European sides that had to cut their losses after 1 season

You also look at the likes of Son at Spurs (same age as Salah) and de Bruyne at City (1 year older)

Both these players were alongside Salah on the list of top PL players up to last season but both have declined hugely in my view (might be harsh on Sonny but doesn't look the same to me) and their decline was pretty rapid

VVD and Salah after this season are into the unknown (at least for us). Both could play at the top level for another 3/4 seasons or both could be out on their feet in 12 months time.

I expect Liverpool have fairly good data to know which is the more likely and unfortunately can't see them getting caught out.

They don't make too many bad decisions these days

If Klopp were still manager it might be a bit different. You got the feeling he was a bit more led by sentiment than the club wanted.

He personally interjected and insisted Jordan Henderson got renewed that summer when he would have been going into the season with 12 months left

    Milner was another favourite

I think with Slot it will be a lot colder along with the club's wishes. They will be looking at the data as you say and acting accordingly.

The most intriguing part though is how players like Virgil and Mo have been able to speak openly with other clubs, and sign a contract with them, for a couple of months now. And where are the rumours of them doing that? What foreign journalists are saying that clubs in their leagues have been discussing terms or trying to do a deal with Virgil or Salah?

That part of it is weird to me. For Trent, sure, Madrid linked everywhere you look

But is nobody interested in Virgil van Dijk on a free? Really?
