Faulty Huawei Inverter

    Hi All,

My Huawei inverter tripped the RCBO last week while I was away. On return, I reset the RCBO and the inverter would not go past the sunlight detection phase of the start up process.

I got on to tech support, and after supplying them with dc voltage and current readings of my two PV strings, they decided that the inverter is most likely faulty and they would supply a new one.

Since then I have not had any more communication from them regarding when the replacement device will be delivered. I called tech support and they said that the case has been moved to their spare parts team (which can't be contacted by phone) and that there's no further help that they can give.

Just wondering has anybody been through this process with Huawei before and if so, what kind of timelines were involved to receive the replacement device?

    Thanks

I had that but it was the fireman switch that needed to be replaced. Not my Hauwei inverter. My installer swapped that at no cost. My projoy fireman has a 5 or 7 year warranty - can't recall which length.

Fault was 'DC is off and AC is on' from the inverter manual based on the light sequence. The message on the inverter (from the browser) was 'Standby: no sunlight'.

Try power off the fireman switch and note the lights on it before and after. Though mine needed to be swapped out.

At a guess I expect the fireman switches fail more often than inverters. I saw a lot of online comments about the fireman's failing.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting dc voltage and current at the point of connection to the inverter, so the fireman switch is working fine in my setup. I've got DC is on and AC is on with the light sequence on the inverter front. But it is just toggling between initializing and sunlight detection constantly.

Initial support from Huawei to accept that the inverter needs to be replaced was pretty efficient, but now that it's been passed to the spare parts team, the communication is non existent.

Just to update, the inverter was eventually delivered. Took daily calls to Huawei support though, was promised an update each day and it never materialised.

Had to lose the plot a bit on my last call to them to try and wake them up and they delivered it the following day.

Installed and the replacement and everything back working again.

Took 12 days from making contact with them to get the replacement, not too bad in fairness but communication was dire and if I wasn’t chasing it I don’t know how long it would have taken.

I had a very different experience with a different manufacturer and installer.

~2 weeks of diagnosis. The inverter only had a fault in UPS mode. The big storm showed it up

Wed: Manufacturer says replace; texted installer

    Thur: called installer

    Fri: new inverter installed

    Extremely happy with that service
