    Hi,

My wife and I (mid-30s, with a toddler) are considering bidding on a second-hand house in the Glensheen/Tobarkeel area off Drumcliff Road in Ennis. We’re not too familiar with the area and would love to hear from locals or anyone with experience living there.

Just looking for the usual info people seek when house hunting—things like:

    - General reputation of the area (quiet, family-friendly, any issues?)

    - Traffic, parking, and general accessibility

    - Flooding or other environmental concerns

    - Any red flags or reasons to think twice?

    - Schools, amenities, or anything else worth noting

Appreciate any insights! Thanks in advance.

I'm from that side of the town and would consider Gleensheen/Tobarkeel to be a decent area. I don't live close enough though to know if there are any particular problem issues in these estates and people who do may have better info on that for you. Both are established estates but there has been a lot of new-build development around them in recent years. This has understandably increased traffic but the whole of Ennis has painful traffic anyway.

You wouldn't be far from the River Fergus but not close enough to worry about flooding in my opinion.

You'd be 5 minutes walk from a Centra supermarket and it's possible to walk into Ennis in approx. 20 minutes so the location is certainly close to town. There is also a LIDL nearby which doesn't necessitate going into town. The location is also close to the town's sports and amenity facility at Lees Road and only a little further is Ballyallia Lake.

I can't really comment on Childcare other than to say there are an Educate Together and Gaelscoil quite close with the other older schools located in the town itself.

    Hope this helps.

That area has everything going for it . Close to schools, shops , etc. Close to town but not far from the countryside .
One downside would be the traffic . There are proposals to build a new road from the N85 roundabout which will bring more traffic from the Ennistymon road to the Gort road via existing roads through that area.
