    it’s 98 M3 Evo, still on the €1809 tax rate until 2028.

Is that law still going ahead?

Few years yet. Very nice car though!

Couldn't see anything about here it is in the process when I googled it the other week. It's the same bill that was to get rid of the tax discs too.

I'm in the same boat with one of mine as didn't get the 'renewal' letter in time due to a dodgy postman and lazy neighbour. (now have reminders set on the phone for them all)

No other way around it, no appeals process, you'll just get 'computer says no!'.

Unless you've got a 1 owner car I can't see number of owners mattering too much, most people are aware of the less than ideal situation.

It should eventually come in hopefully, but probably won't apply retrospectively so won't help in our situation.

I'm just leaving mine roll on for now as it'll be a good while before it goes near a public road again and I may sell it beforehand anyway.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

I might let it just roll on until 2028, it’s not really going to see any road until then, 3 UK owners and I’m the only Irish one.
I wonder when it hits 30 can you just pay the back tax at the classic rate.

I’d guess that rule might apply retrospectively if revenue want to tidy up their accounts, must be a lot of people with outstanding tax due to them because of it. I’m probably in for 4k and counting😁

When I switched my Golf from standard to classic rate I had to tax it for year to avail of the switch. It was declared off the road at the time of the switch so there were no arrears. But since you'll be switched tax class i can see how they can make you pay the arrears first. You have to tax it for 3 months minimum to clear the arrears as part of that transaction but if the car is over 30 at that stage, i don't see how they could legally force to tax the car on the old classification first.

There must be dozens or hundreds of old vans that were never declared off the road, converted to campers and registered as a camper to get the camper rate. They were hardly forced to pay back tax for a old Revenue classification first before they could change.

The arrears get cleared once you change the tax to vintage. I VRT’d my 94 M3 and racked up 3 months of arrears at engine size rate and as soon as I changed it to vintage the arrears were cleared and I just paid €56
