    Some accusations by Galthie:

“Our players did not return to the pitch,” he said. “We would like to understand why. On this issue, we are angry. We want to protect our players. There are means, [there are] rules. The [citing] commissioner must study the actions that are reprehensible or not. Neither Antoine nor Pierre-Louis returned to the pitch. One for a cleaning, the other for a contact.

“For Antoine, there is suspicion of a fairly serious knee injury. I won’t go into details due to medical confidentiality, but Antoine is suffering. We have cited players to appear before the [Six Nations disciplinary] committee – Tadhg Beirne and Andrew Porter. Calvin Nash has also been summoned before the committee, for Pierre-Louis Barassi because he did not respond favourably to the protocol.

“We feel bad for [Antoine]. In terms of the action, in my opinion it was reprehensible, and there are ways to study and analyse it. We feel for him today. He is suffering and we are suffering with him.”

Sexton Sexton Sexton, called every play thinking of the phase after and the phase after that, now it's a play at a time, we're clueless once that doesn't work.

SP can kick and pass, but there's far more to a 10 than that, the possible future is certainly not the present.

    France being bad winners shocker.

Same happened with Alldritt and his lies post Champions Cup victory in 2023.

Dupont got his leg trapped by the ball carrier who he was trying to jackle over. Beirnes clean out was fine. Had duponts leg not been trapped he simply would have bounced back. It was just a very unlucky incident for Dupont.

I thought it looked an awful lot like the attempted clear-out that saw Tom O'Toole banned for three games.

If Angus Gardner was actually biased against us, it would have been a very easy red card to give.

Unfortunate for Dupont, hopefully it’s not too serious, but if you decide that you’re going 7-1 I’m not sure you can complain about the level of attrition in a game.

I felt before the tournament we were in for a 2019. We were over the top that year.

We won a Slam and a 6Nations, 2023 and 2024. I think if you look at any team who've done back to back championships, with an ageing team, they falter on year 3. We've been helped this year by Scotland being flaky, as usual. England being very average and Wales at an all time low.

England, Wales won't always be poor. We have so many starters well over 30.

The out half issue. Post Scotland I favoured Sam. These past 2 games, I'm not so sure. If he was a bit bulkier instead of being 6ft 4 and so slight. He would want to bulk up quickly. I do wonder why coaches like Farrell and Easterby go for him over Crowley without hesitation. Is there really that much difference...?? I felt for Crowley coming on for Aki. Like if you pride yourself on being an outhalf and you're brought on to replace a centre beast. That's frustrating. He is a 6 nations winning outhalf.

We need to rebuild for RWC 2027. The U20s of 2022 to 2024.. step up young men.

Nonsense. The forwards tried to take it on themselves most of the time.

BBC comment section. We’re arrogant, horrible, always cheating etc.

Also, it's not the first time a fecking Shaun Edwards defence did a lot of damage to us.

I'm especially thinking of RWC 2011.

Beirne went Into the ruck and was fine. Porter came in and barrelled Beirne into Dupont. It was an unfortunate rugby incident. There was no real clear out on Dupont by Beirne.

Galthie can fcuk right off with that bullsh1t. We didn't hear any such nonsense from AF when Atonio only got a YC for what he subsequently got banned for.

Wasn't it Dupont who went for a HIA a few years back in Paris when he has actually done his ACL?

Lenihan is shocking. I absolutely hate listening to him

And here we are another match thread & it's taken over again by the 10 debate.

Farrrell obviously feels SP is worth a substantial look at at test leve or has decided that he is now the 10, he knows where Crowley is & what he has done already.

Outside of summer tour this year there isn't that many test games before the start of the nxt WC.

We missed our best players badly today, Furlong & esp Ringrose, Lowe just before kick off was a disaster of a loss.

We gave 2 test level wingers & both missing today. None of what's available or unavailable are test level or been tried sufficiently.

Prendergast was poor today but along with the backs he wasn't the the bigger contributory fault for the loss. We could have had any other 10 in the world today & it wouldn't have mattered a jot.

We got destroyed in the forwards

In 2023, Antonio smashed his shoulder onto Herring's jaw so spare me the guff from Galthie.

just back from match, seemed like France were at home. How do they get so many tickets.I thought Osborne was good,we didnt score when we had them under pressure in first half, ref got O Mahony call wrong and losing Lowe was a blow.I am not sure we would have won no matter what as they are a serious team.Who knows but well beaten on the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,597 ✭✭✭crossman47

I expected us to lose (said it here) but not that badly. We've fallen back a bit from last year. The YCs didn't help, we missed Ringrose and Lowe, we should have taken our points from penalties early on and a few players (McCarthy especially) were just plain poor. You can't win them all but POM will be missed. We have no other dog of his calibre.

It does look a little like Beirne leaned onto the leg but Dupont was prone. I'd like to see more angles.

Actually no, after 10 watches I think it looks ok.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

you need to go to a Leinster Senior Schools Cup game - in the top 2/3 teams they have players who can do all of above. The quality of passing is insane at time. It’s like everything SP does is amazing and anything poor it’s because he’s only 22. It’s not his fault, he has been thrown into to the deep end way too early. He will be a very good Ireland player in time but he has been mis-managed. Young players nowadays who show any potential are massively overhyped in every sport. It’s the world we live in, up to the manager to manage potential.

Farrell/Easterby/Cullen doing a bang average job at that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭JohnJoFitz

Funny how referees only ever make mistakes which cost Ireland, but never the other team.

France were miles the better team, that is why they won.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,535 ✭✭✭techdiver

I think that's an over simplification. The team is now playing a different style and whilst our previous attack has been somewhat found out it appears we're not even attempting any of the short pop pass play that made us so effective. We now kicking the leather off the ball (poorly for the most part), and as such, instead of pressurising the opposition we are inviting pressure into ourselves.

It’s understandable that he’s upset about Dupont’s injury but to call it reprehensible is not on. I can’t see any foul play by Beirne, it was just unfortunate.

I also thought Nash’s YC was harsh. It was nothing like as bad as Ringrose against Wales

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,097 ✭✭✭✭JRant

As I said earlier, absolutely nothing in that. Beirne is straight in through the gate and it's a French player that pushes him into DuPont.

I hope the Irish management team don't take this crap lying down after been taking a one sided beat down from Gardner.

I'll also add that any citings should look at the two clear outs on Belham and Osborne because both looked like head shots in real time.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Not one of the experts on either RTE or Virgin thought the PoM one was incorrect, Heaslip, Ferris, Trimble, Williams, Kearney; of course it could have been blown, but it wasn't and it only made the score 15-13

Lets take a look at Ireland's change in play-style, it started with the NZ game, well it started with Mike Catt leaving really. Andy's knee jerk reaction to losing the NZ game was to double down on whatever Leinster does.

Leinster decided that a coach that had literally the best forwards on the planet to call on would be a good choice for them, along with that coach they brought in RG Snyman and Geordie Barret adding some much needed size. They are currently beating the **** out of weak URC teams, like they always do.

Andy literally just copied Leinster's style because that's what he does - Cohesion, it reduces the coaching load and leaves him free to talk about adversity (his number one, mastermind subject).

So Ireland went from having a world beating, counter attacking game to an off ball territorial game. Mike Catt's short passing, counter transition game was flushed down the toilet for an off ball game.

We've seen what off balling teams like France does when you have smaller forwards. Likewise SA and NZ will probably blow through this team like wet tissue paper.

So where does this leave Andy?

    2 Choices,

1 - Reverse course back to what worked previously but, with an inferior attack coach in Goodman.

2 - Double down. Andy is all about doubling down (see: adversity).

Regardless of his choice, he'll definitely be looking for a scapegoat. Joe Mac, Nash or Sam?

    True

But allowing that try to stand was a huge swing in the game
