Write the script already...they'll knock 50 points on Italy and tell every irish reporter that they owed a good performance to themselves, the coaches and the fans......even though its Italy they are playing 🙄🙄🙄🙄

France have been great today, we've been poor, but the Irish "fans" in the stadium have been an embarrassment, I've been to louder funerals and libraries, without the French fans you would have heard a pin drop

Crowley in his brief cameo has shown he's miles ahead. His ability to drive through a tackle and retain possession and his variety in his offloads alone set him well apart.

The Lions, seriously? That's what comes to mind from today's performance? And people wonder why some rugby "fans" talk such nonsense

34-21 to France in the second half, after a tight low scoring first half.

That’s Nash gone from the Irish squad for the near future. You can’t be getting a card when you’re the winger marking Bielle Biarrey. Ringrose and Lowe being injured today are the losing of this game.

There's not much else we can do, we had a 6/2 split on the bench.

I can’t understand how he was being talked about in lions context even before today.

Did you not "find him out" the moment he was first picked? You and many others were gunning for him from the get go. Pathetic.

Some amount of crap posted about Nash and Prendergast in this thread today. Ultimately we dominated the first 20 and got nothing from it, then our pack got minced in the second half.

You'd be concerned for Leinster chances against either Toulouse or Bordeaux if Prendergast is at 10.

Huge credit to France putting us to sword when Nash was in the bin. Thought the try where POM was taken out was harsh and a real momentum changer but suspect they would have scored from the penalty the would have had instead.

How many of the points today were scored today when both teams had players in the bin?

I think there's a lot of fans making up the crowd, the issue is that the fans are there on a corporate ticket so the buzz of going to the match with your mates is taken away, I've taken the free tickets so I know

That needs to change, tickets for fans, not for PWC and KPMG to bring all their best customers

So should prendergast based on his performance

Can't win games when you shoot yourself in both feet. McCarthy shouldn't be starting over Ryan, it's been a ridiculous choice from the start.

The most telling part from me was our inability to convert the pressure we had at the start of the game. Our attack is just poorer than it was in previous seasons in those situations. We can work the ball wide into a bit of space, but we lack the pace out wide to threaten with it. There was a period where we picked and go'd, to good results. It was one of the few times we penetrated there defense effectively.

I got one score right. This was not down to the ability of our broader squad but poor selections. Three poor refereeing decisions did not help.

    Welcome to modern elite sport.

Football gone the same way. As many suits and sponsors in the stadia as fans.

Certainly shouldn't be starting the next game. Definitely needs another year or two to mature.

Very disappointing. Badly exposed in a number of areas.

Again, he is better than any other Irish 10 at his age , ever. Little bit of context, he might not be ready yet but I think he is competitive and he was up against a dominant defence and pack.

The team will be utterly deflated after this, I can honestly see Italy beating us

No Tony O'Donoghue type f*ckery from Claire McNamara in that interview unfortunately.

We've had issues converting possession and territory into trys all season. Two held up over the line today, but also we couldn't generate momentum in the carry close to the line. France kept shutting us down.

I don't know how we improve on that. Ireland's footwork in contact is the best around so it may simply be a case of requiring more power.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 632 ✭✭✭CptMonkey

Ryan should have started. Plays well next to byrne. No irish player really played well today

Can see the pile on to Prendergast is in full swing.

Cannot believe how we approached that game at times. The decision making was awful. We had to play far more territory. Gifted France field position and they didn’t have to work hard for at least 3 of their tries.

At the end of the day, the yellow cards are what cost us. You can’t play 20 mins down a man to that side. France the better side on the day. Don’t think it needs to be over analysed.

you're a caricature, your goat has a terrible game, your mulleted 2nd row pulls ramos back, 2 handed off the ball for a yellow card, and an innocuous head clash in a tackle, grinds your gears…

    bye bye
