Its a good Qs. I hope they still would have still gone 6-2! Only because that would have meant the Irish coaches would have planned for this in advance of any injury.

e.g. Ireland planned to play Osborne at FB v Wales AND also against Billie-Barry v France. (with Keenan RW when out of possession)

In reality the 6-2 is just a reaction to the injury of Hansen and Ringrose suspension.

    SILVER LININGS

    1. I saw Hansen getting injured v Wales. He was stretching his calf/leg allot during the 2nd half before going off (73')

    2. Ringrose suspension v Wales.

So Ireland must have been prepping for the last 2 weeks without both of them.

Also, Ireland are kicking allot more in this 6N and definitely would have planned to target the two French wings.

Prendergast/JGP/Crowley/Murray will be launching Garryowens down on the wingers and kicking in behind the wingers all day.

Keenan, Osborne, Lowe and Henshaw are superior to their opposite numbers in fielding those kicks.

That's a great opener to a match thread. Probably the best we've seen in a few years. Well done sir, well done.

Des Bleus sous les bombe / Blues under the bombs

    Throw the rest into translate….

The ultimate is to attempt a recovery with outstretched arms, rugby sevens style: "Few 15s players do it. But at the moment, the Top 14 specialist is called Théo Attissogbe," recalls Dumora. Too bad, he won't be on the team sheet on Saturday...

Cracking write-up, @ionadnapóca . As YR said, best we've had here in a long time.

Ireland by a score, maybe two...expecting a very tense, cagey opening. If we can score quickly and get in the French heads, think we'll kick on.

Concerned about the two English ARs, and expect to hear them call for scrum penalties against Porter.

Can see the french winning tomorrow by 8 to 12 points. They seem to have re-built the team since last year and are playing to their strengths. And I worry about some of the selections and with Ringrose missing and not convinced yet about Prendergast. Tomorrow will either make or break him I think but even if he has a set back now might be good for him and Ireland in the long run.

I think it will be tight and we are better at winning tight games than them.

Barring injuries to key players or red cards, I think we’ll win

Quarter past two for an international match like this one is a balls of a time.

Can't come quick enough tbh. Considering painting the sitting room just to put the time in. 🤔

No - its exactly what fans from outside Dublin need to be able to make an easy return trip on the day. Dubs can't always be the ones accomodated.

Well at least you'll be the first person who can actually watch paint dry instead if things go badly later🙂

Have to say, I'm really not sure starting McCarthy over Ryan is the right call. McCarthy gives away too much penalties and advantages, I'd be starting Ryan to keep the ship going and heads calm in such an important match then have McCarthy as the impact.

6/2 split a mistake by Ireland

Ireland need to come out like men possessed. I want to see Antonio, Gros, Mauvaka, Flament with their hands on their hips blowing hard after 15 mins.

3 points down, penalty awarded with a minute left on the clock in front of the French posts who are down to 14. We’ve got the momentum. What’s the decision? I know what I’d do but wonder what’s that’s the consensus on here.

Getting nervous now. I am disappointed how much the media have focused on Sam's defence during the week. He is a young lad with huge potential and is very early in his international development and all he is hearing is that he is too light, cannot tackle or is out of position. Nasty stuff. Good luck to the young man and good luck to Crowley too when he comes on. No matter what happens we have 2 super 10s for the future.

My heart says Ireland but my head says Ireland 21 France 31.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I was up in Cardiff a few weeks ago and actually thought the KO time was quite good for the game in hindsight. Atmosphere was great. It was too early in the day for half the stadium to be getting up every 15 mins for a slash. Was able to decompress and enjoy the Scotland England game in the pub afterwards. Definitely drank less as a result over the course of a day. I’d normally be of a mind that a late kick off under lights is better, but I can see see the pros of an early kick off too
