So, to be brief you got an upgrade to Q for 26.40 as an existing customer, is that right? Anything else on that? HD etc? It's definitely a good deal even as a bare package.

The best they would give me was 50 off for 6 months but had to sign up for another 12 months. So cancelled. Virgin will work out 70 cheaper a month for the year.

Yes HD, I have added the Sky Sport + Sports Extra current deal offer for €27 pm for 6 months and a multi-box for €13 pm, basically a second Sky Q box for wifi to allow TV in any room. Total €66.40 pm and I will review the Sports package in 6 months and hopefully argue to continue for another 6 months for the same price or just cancel it if I don't get what I want. Worth a try anyway!

My advice, get on to the Sky Loyalties section, if you are an existing customer and argue for a better deal if you are not happy with your current set up through a dish and sky q or the Wifi choice with efibre.

I got the same deal a few months back plus Netflix for €6 extra

Left sky tv a long time ago. Usually get a call every so often but 3 calls in 2 days from them. Must be desperate to get people back. I’ve an old hd back that gives me a few free channels. Then the usual free players and share a Netflix account more than enough for me. Even YouTube has a lot more on it than before on sports to watch if you can avoid results.

I must always one of them to see what’s getting offered but they usually call at bad times.

if cancelling anyone I’d be going ahead with it as they seem to be in the get customers back model

Just got a notification on the My sky app. telling me my contract ends soon and offering 15Euro per month discount if I opt to recontract, all confirmed via the app no need to call anyone. bringing the sky bill back under 30 euro again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭webpal

I’ve never got that notification but I usually ring more than 30 days before contract ends, when was your contract up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭jos22

19th Nov is listed on app as final bill before the discount I got last time would Drop off. on the app under the Hello Vip x years with sky. it said your package

contract will end soon, price will change, see your renewal deal here.

so app now says 19th nov with old price and 19th of dec then starting with the new offer.

Hope they do this again next year fast and hassle free.

same first time I got that message on the app, in past I just messaged them on Facebook to start the back and forward of sorry of offer , till they magically found one just for me

I have Sky TV and BB with Vodafone. My BB contract is up and sky tv contract will be up in Jan 25. Looking at moving to virgin who have a good BB and TV bundle on offer for black Friday. I contacted sky about paying to break tv contract and they've told me that I have to stay till end of contract, that I'm not allowed to leave. Anyone else heard of this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,385 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Yes, sky can be very difficult when it comes to breaking your contract. It's only a shade over 2 months would cutting sky right back to the bare minimum until January be an option? Obviously you'd get VM installed in the meantime.

    Thanks, that's a good idea.

I'm on their signature package at 37 per month. It's probably their minimum package but I'll give them a call tomorrow anyway and see what they say

Is anyone getting any good deals from them lately? All my discounts are ending and my contract is up on the 15th of December. I'm considering ringing on the 16th and playing hard ball to cancel and letting it switch off in January, maybe then I'll actually get a decent offer.

16th of November calling up? 31 days cancellation notice so you’ll pay full whack for a month going by your way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,385 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

I never thought of that. Will they accept 31 days cancellation from tomorrow, no reason why they shouldn't I suppose?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,776 ✭✭✭Trampas

Sky ringing me twice a day now. Must have cut their tv package 3-4 years now. I can’t remember it’s that long. You’d think they’d get the message of not answering the number

just onto sky via the texts, contract up in 30 days, on sky+hd bosca with sky signature,
got it for 30€ (down from 49)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 572 ✭✭✭cathy427

Paying €43.55 for sky signature. Texted to cancel and she said could do it for €40.55.

She claimed that was a 9€ discount cause I was already on a 6€ discount as was getting sky go extra free.

I tried to explain that its still only a 3€ discount from what I am currently paying.

No joy so after a bit of nonsense about they didn't want to see me go she put through the cancellation. So seems to depend who you get. (I don't envy their job)

I only have it for the convience of series link and live pause so think happy to let it go.

I got a deal from them on Friday. Not the best deal in the world but better than nothing, being Indian based it's very difficult to understand what he was saying to me, I have 14 days to pull out if I want. SkyQ, one mini box, HD, cinema, netflix and kids for €64 a month. Kids is a freebie for 2 months otherwise it goes up by €10, HD is for 6 months everything else is for 12 months.

I have Basic Sky Q TV & 500MB Broadband and just gone out of contract. Cost has increased from €54.20 to €116 which is crazy. Best offer I could get to renew was €68 p.m. versus a new customer rate of €55 p.m. which includes Netflix. I told them to cancel the account as I'm not paying more than a new customer after being a loyal customer for years.

Can anybody confirm if Sky usually comes back with a better offer post cancellation or should I just proceed and move to Virgin Media at €50 p.m.?

I’m in the same boat, they usually do come back. If they don’t this year I’m gone and even if they do it would have to be a reasonable price. Eurosport being absorbed by TNT was the final straw for me.

just be careful with Sky Q as it’s a terrific product but it doesn’t look like Sky allow new sign ups to it

They are definitely trying to push everybody to streaming

So if you cancel, they might not offer that to you.

Not a deal, but I rang there and got talking to a pleasant Indian lady. She got my details (currently on basic Sky plus kids for €54 rising to €59 next month) then told me she could bring it down to €46, no further reductions. Then proceeded to cancel my sub for me, no further offers! Gonna wait a week then if I dont hear from them gonna get a freesat box and carry on leaving🤷🏻‍♂️

I had no problem switching from SkyHD to SkyQ a few weeks ago.

Still waiting for them to come and install though.

Great. A friend of mine of mine couldn’t get them to budge from their stream options last week. I’ll mention this to them

Rang last week. On Sky Signature using Sky Q box. Had gone up to €40.50 with another €3.80 being applied in April. Did the whole I'm cancelling, better offer from Virgin Media blah blah …. got it down to €25.60 pm for 12mths - no further price hike during that period.
