How do you know the invader won't start killing again after they being rewarded for their first genocide?

No one trusts Putin, do you?

You realise plenty of those refugees would be going back to occupied territories that are actively being bombed day to day? Trump is actively getting them killed if they go back. Pretty **** peacemaker if that's his approach… Also your justification of deporting is just nonsensical...

You are absolutely right, but at least the basic information is out there in one place, put before the Senate. Hopefully it can then be converted to the short-attention-span appeasing social media posts that may or may not make an impression on the politically illiterate voters out there. This is 6 weeks worth of (deliberately) confusing events rendered down to 30 minutes of clarity. Hopefully someone - Lincoln Project maybe, though presumably Maga doesn't even open Lincoln Project vids - will take it further to 30 second ads to infest the internet and tv stations.

I trust him more than the other guy. Now we have Germany gearing up, that worked out great the last time. Russia is not going to invade europe, nothing more than money laundering about to start big time in Europe. Harris and his fighter jet absolute nonsense stuff.

You trust invader more than the invaded?

    Please, explain.

Russia, who has invaded Georgia and Ukraine in the past 20 years won't invade Europe. That's optimistic.

And still hasn't removed troops from Moldova as per previous agreements.

Peace in Ukraine means hampering Ukraine's ability to defend itself. Peace in Gaza means increasing the supply of weapons to Israel. Seems incoherent but I'm sure the President of Peace is just a few moves ahead of us all.

I just don't like the chap and I formed that opinion before the war. He went full dictator during covid, no surpise a lot of them jumped ship when the opportunity presented itself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,353 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

Bit odd that you trust the guy who called for ethnic cleansing who wants to send a load of refugees back into an active war.

"Now we have Germany gearing up, that worked out great the last time"

As you've framed it as a negative, you do realise that's down to Trump as well. Both due to his threats to invade allies and his inaction against Russian aggression.

And used both highly toxic chemical and radioactive poisons in Europe

And shot down multiple civilian planes

    And repeatedly subverted elections

Full dictator, you mean the guy trying to rule by Executive order, without Congress…

    Trump.

He wants peace so much that he's lifted the pause on 2,000lb bombs being made available to the Israelis so that they can rain peace down upon the Palestinians.

If Trump wants peace then actively supporting warmongers is the wrong way to go about it.

The war in Ukraine could end tomorrow if Putin pulls his troops out - but every decision Trump makes supports their invasion and guarantees more death will occur.

You have to be wilfully ignorant to believe he cares one bit about peace.

It is a negative, he's not going to invade Germany, the Russians are lauging at how crazy our European leaders have become. Germany is in trouble, they need a bogeyman. Our own goverment seem to becoming more far right by the day, stoppign people at the NI border today and swinging them around. Germany didn't vote for what's goign on there after the elctions.

Honestly it sounds like you've been reading a little too much Russian/US propoganda.

Everyone wants the killing to stop, straight away. Unfortunately that's not how invasions / war works and is a very naive world view.

The problem is he has other plans such as nuke disarmament and trade with Russia etc. He was never going to side against Russia or all that goes up in smoke. He dosent give a toss about Ukraine. Maybe he gets his deal on the minerals - either way Ukraine is not getting their land back.

he's not going to invade Germany

This entire post is a dictionary definition of a strawman. Noone said Trump is going to invade Germany. Noone is talking about checkpoints in NI.

Wtf are you even blathering on about?

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,753 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

Germany is in trouble because they believed Russian propaganda that Russians are cuddly bears

Only for Russians to go full metal Nazi and invade neighbours starting largest war in Europe since Nazis 1.0

And then cutting of Germany from gas and deliberately trying to crash their economy and freeze Germans and Europe

And here we have yet again more Russian propaganda telling us not to worry about Russians as they will only contain their rape, murder, slaving and looting to Ukraine and ignore all them tanks and helicopters “To Berlin” painted or side or Russian TV fantasising about ruling Europe again

Are you trying to gaslight yourself or what?

Here are the facts in case you didn't know:

    • Russia invaded Ukraine.
    • America and Europe supported Ukraine in their defence.
    • America have now rolled back their support.
    • Europe is gearing up their support to take over America's shortfall.

Seems like a logical step that Europe are taking, given that Russia invaded Ukraine.

Why are you having a hard time understanding in the above?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,087 ✭✭✭ArthurDayne

Exactly. The problem with how Trump and MAGA are trying to spin all of this (because he's so desperate to end the war in a blink like he said he would) is that peace is a pretty complicated thing. When you're dealing with an authoritarian figure like Putin who has made it clear both in his ideological statements and his actions that he is a territorial expansionist, it's even more complicated. Hitler marched into the Rhineland, Austria and Sudetenland without a bullet fired and it seems that today's US Republicans would have us believe that acquiescing to this aligns to their simplistic view of peace.

Peace has to be just and lasting. You can't just allow authoritarian dictators to slowly chip away at their neighbours, bit by bit, until this appeasement allows them to gradually build their power and confidence into something even more dangerous — and emboldens other regimes.

And it's not just about the worst case scenarios people tend to invoke about Russia marching into the Baltics etc. It's also about Russia's ability to use its growing power to disrupt European democracy, continue engineering migration crises, and de-rail the Western alliance (as it is already succeeding in doing).

Good to see you acknowledging that Trump can do some wrong.

It's hard to tell if that poster is talking about Trump or Putin.

Despite this being mostly a distraction "isn't he brave" tactic plug, I'll bite.

On a like for like basis, when did a Republican try to shoot and kill Biden, needing him to get a cat-scan afterwards?

BTW, when did and through whom did Trump release his copy of the scan to the public? The Butler Memorial Hospital did not.

The typical MAGA / Musk-bro position to all of this isn't from a lack of understanding. They understand perfectly what Russia are up to. However they don't care about what Russia are doing. They're far more interested to help stack up Donnie's house of cards that create the illusion that the Orange Lummox is somehow in the right.

There is plenty of talk of "peace" in MAGA-world, but they really mean is "Give in to Russia". Those of us who are students of history or who actually give a damn about democracy and freedom know that such a position is not actually peace. Merely the peace of the grave for the Ukrainian people, and a brief respite for Putin while he prepares for his next move. War is what keeps him safe now ironically, and paradoxially the Russian State not only cannot survive the current war in Ukraine, but can't survive without it either. It's all they have now, which is why they must be forced back on the battlefield.

I don't take any MAGA fan or Elon-bro at face value with their newly found peacenik personas, suddenly advocating for peace and sunshine around the world. We know you all far too well to fall for it, and you know damn well yourselves that you don't believe it either. It's just yet another personal-branding cudgel that Donnie wants to swing. These days he wants to cosplay as "Donnie the Peacemaker", while blaming everyone else for the state of the world. You are all far too damn willing to help him in that patomime than to actually give a damn about genuine world peace.

Apparently he's also still obsessed with the Nobel Peace Prize (possibly out of a lingering jealousy for Obama) and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if all of this stupidity from him regarding Ukraine is more in service of that goal than anything else, even potentially his help to old Vlad.
