Trump has had enough of the war and wants it over.

It's really astounding to think that Trumps thoughts on this are in someway honourable.

That's absolute nonsense. The US would have far greater levels of poverty in contrast to Ireland. Healthcare wise while we're far from perfect, nobody is gonna end up in a lifetime of debt for getting ill. Education is readily accessible and doesn't have the levels of disparity that's on display in the US. So no, we're not remotely like a 3rd world country next to the US. Btw I say this as person who has had opportunities to move to the US, I'd make a high salary over there but as a person with a chronic illness, I'd choose here any day over the US.

Also we have drastically lower odds of being murdered in a school setting. Is that what just goes with the first world?

I think Trump is being played by th Europeans. Macron and Starmer would have being sussing Trump to see what way he was on Ukraine. When they realised he woukd not provide any backstop I think Zelensky was told do not sign the minerals deal unless Trump gives security guarantees. I still think it was strange Martin rushing to Shannon. It was not for a cup of coffee and a chat. It could have been scheduled for another time.

There is an old political saying keep your friends close but keep you enemies closer. The European countries are know Russia is very weak. They know it will be a struggle but it a good bit better than leaving Russia recover. Any rusty European hardware at this stage is better than Russia has left. When Trump voted at the UN with Russia the European countries knew it was game over with this US administration.

The US is making demands of Zelensky that cannot be met. Europe hold most of the cards at this stage. They have Canada and Russia on board. Trump can forget about a 51st state.

European leaders are making noise about having the US on board but they know they are on there own.

An absolute joke of a comment, comparing a country that for all its faults puts people first over profits. There's nothing 3rd world about Ireland, same can't be said for the US where a minor illness can send you in to debt for half your life.

You would need Trump to be willing to take on another partner in his business opportunity and lose profit on the deal. There'd also be EU regulations which would mess with his business-deals head. He doesn't like regulations. If you get the time, look back at the Oval Office video where he went on a rant about Obama, Hilary Clinton and both Bidens re the deal he was working on with the Ukrainian Govt of the day being dumped by the change in president there. About the only thing he didn't mention was the Biden laptop. This was long before Zelenskyy ran for president.

Ireland is a 3rd World Nation compared to the US?

Ireland, a nation where nearly all children are immunised against Measles, compared to a state that had it's first child mortality from the illness in 10 years, a preventable death that was made possible by a regressive US health sector that has fallen into the hands of a person who would rather listen to conspriacy theories about vacinations than the available science.

Ireland, a nation where the people voted overwhelmingly to legalise the Right of Choice for women and their bodies, while the United States regresses further to a medievel position that had impacted Ireland for far too damn long. They begin to have more in common with the Taliban's Afghanistan than any true 1st World Nation.

Ireland, a nation that has social welfare programs within the very makeup of the state, while the US allows a craven South African dimwit to gut what is left of their offering. Ireland is not a state that cack-handledly fires their air-traffic controllers for example.

Ireland, a nation where our education, political discourse and awareness of history afford us with an electorate with critical thinking skills, verses an American electorate who in far too many cases are so poorly educated that they would put their hand a lit fireplace if you told them it would make them rich.

Ireland is a small country, but it is also an intelligent, kind and resourceful place. We have a tradition of hard work and contagious humor. If you think this is a third world country might I suggest to take a trip to the Deep South of the US, and see what a 3rd World Nation truly looks like. Perhaps even take up residence? You may find many like-minded neighbours.

Any comparisons, I have always felt between Ireland (5 million people and 33000 square miles) and the U.S. and its 330 million people spread across 50 states and millions of square miles is silly.

I have never felt America to be a country. It feels much more like a collection of areas/peoples and all that. Yes, I know internationally and officially it is ONE country

And a lot of us can't wait for them to go (when said people are praising Trump + the GOP and Russia [is there going to be much diff. there soon from a European's pov, the speed things are rocketing downhill?]).

Should be a kind of public collection raised to fund it!

I assume that doesn't stop him being elected as "Vice" President (Wink Wink) for as many times as he wants.

    The land of the free.

Taking to TruthSocial, Trump announced that “agitators” would be arrested or deported as he demanded Universities end protests on campus.

It comes following months of college protests across the United States against Israel’s assault on Gaza.

Should be an interesting opening of the NY stock exchange. Tesla pre open price -4.5% and diving. Although the pre market price isn't always accurate, this looks significant.

I agree. The constitution is only as good as those willing to uphold it. If Trump and his buddies in the Supreme Court choose to ignore it, who will stop them?

Ireland mostly a 3rd world country in comparison to the US? Rule of Law? Independent public prosecutors? Elections which are free and fair? Indefinite detention? Life expectancy? I could go on… Even our health service looks good compared with the US.

You have really revealed a lot about yourself.

    Has anyone listened to this?

Can you list specific areas in which Ireland is third world in comparison to the USA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,400 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

We've seen how it all ends in the film Civil War, I was always curious how it would have started, we may just find out.

Could a former 2 term president apply to the supreme Court now to test the water before the midterms. If the Supreme Court is going to kiss the ring, best the voters know before the midterms at least.

The EU should immediately take the 300 billion worth of Russian assets they are holding and give them to Ukraine

Ukraine can then use that money to fund their defense, spend some of that money in the EU to help us to build up our defense infrastructure.

If we don't do this, the money will be returned to Russia in a few months when one of the cucked EU member states votes to return it.

I guarantee, if the EU takes that money, Trump will immediately take Putins side and demand that the EU returns the money or else Putin is justified in starting WW3.

And the usual suspects on here will agree that its all our fault and We should just give Putin back those funds

just thinking on these tariffs that Trump is hoping will bring multinational companies back to American soil.

as other trade areas will reciprocate the tariffs onto american goods, that means that these companies will sell back into the markets they currently sell into, at higher prices from which they do not profit.

why in gods name would any company want to do this?

    Trump has two choices.

He can continue to support Ukraine in the war and hope that the Russian economy goes tits up next year due to the war footing they are operating on.

Option 2 is to coerce Ukraine and Russia to call a ceasefire, negotiate a deal and resume diplomatic relations with Russia in a bid to reduce global friction.

I'd prefer option A, but Trump has kind of backed himself into a corner with his previous ludicrous claim to end the war in 24 hours.

He ran on the policy to end the war quickly, so its not surprising that he is trying to exert pressure on Zelensky who needs US support to have any logistical hope to keeping the Russian attack back.

Who know what Trumps end goal is , he says so much bullshit its hard to know what he has in mind.

Trump needs to slow down, he is trying to do far too much too soon, he needs to be more patient but Im not sure the people he has surrounded himself with are the foil required.

This post is absolutely deluded. You are confusing the 'American Dream' America from Hollywood films to the reality on the ground for most people.

Try losing your job in Ireland and losing it in the US.

Try getting sick in Ireland and getting sick in the US.

Only one of those countries could leave you broke and destitute like being in the 'Third World'. (I'll give you a hint, it's not Ireland)

Option 2 is to coerce Ukraine and Russia to call a ceasefire,

He is not trying to coerce Russia. Not even a little bit. If anything he is doing the direct opposite.

i was just on youtube, some canadian PM candidate, if she wins, is going to stick 100% tariffs on Teslas... that made me laugh.

@Rawr thats a great response to a ridiculous comment.

Well for a company like Pfizor they'll just have to up production in their US plants to even out the effect of importing from their non US operations like Ireland. But overall they need global scale just to remain competitive so their EU plants will become more important for their emerging markets.

Anyhoo, in relation to Tesla stock reducing in value, apparently Elon aka Phoney Stark, hasn't heard about the maxim E.T.T.D.

    Its not deluded.

Irish people have been going to the US for hundreds of years, 35m Americans identify as Irish to some degree.

They went there for a reason, and will continue to do so.

Whats deluded is people saying that nobody wants to go to the US anymore and all the hysterical reactions like they could be shot or locked up if they go there legally.

    Utter hysteria.

Feel free to go with them, Mr. A. If they are fellow Trump / Putin centrists then they'll be no loss…
