re making a deal for the Rear earths . Would it make more sence to do a deal with some European bid and keep the money in Europe . Ukr can then pay the US it’ s circa $135 bn instead of the $500bn?

Are you seriously comparing the antics of the current US Republican clown show to FFG?

You might not like Fianna Fail or Fine Gael but I don't think I've recently seen them start trade wars with their allies or cause massive dangerous upheaval to the world order.

    Apples and oranges.

If America are allied with Russia (and under Trump, as of today, they fuckin are) in a war between Europe and Russia, whats to stop them. You think they wouldn't want to control a strategic outpost on the northwest of the continent where they could get re-supplies from their new western ally?

I think calling for the death of an elected head of state and judging a country as unintelligent based on politics as ridiculous.

And no. I am not comparing the "antics". I am comparing the fact that the population have voted in such a way that seems, from the outside, ridiculous. I wouldn't say that the Irish population are stupid though.

    Apples and Apples.

Fuckin hell. The country is going downhill rapidly!

    Loads of people.

Most Irish people would give their right hand for a visa, especially young people who cant wait to escape Ireland. Most only go to Australia and Canada because they cant get into the US.

Ireland is a third world country in almost every regard in comparison with the US and as for the weather dont get me started.

Indefinite detention for the perceived risk she may sell her services in tattooing someone, but no evidence of this. Just outrageous.

seriously, it’s beyond ludicrous to try and equate Ireland democratically electing FF/FG, or whoever to the absolute maniac running wild in the White House. Unless I’m missing something and we have such very very clearly “better” substitutes/preferences to who is currently in government?

I wouldn't expect a word from his followers or the vast majority of voters in the U.S. American foreign policy is a big issue for people outside the U.S., but it matters little to those inside. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Trump puts a few more dollars in voters' pockets and we see a jump in support for him.

I'm heading over for work later this week for a few days. Can't wait to see how things are on the ground in NYC and Chicago.

I am aware that you find it ludicrous. But I am steadfast that calling an entire nation idiots is absurd based on politics you happen to disagree with.

It is astounding just the ridiculousness of being able to consistently label american people as stupid.

I do take offense to being called ignorant and dumb but I suppose if an opinion you don't agree with is voiced, then you are free to call me that.

Support for tariffs seems to be somewhere between 30 and 50% of those surveyed by the NY Times.

Trump is due to address Congress today it seems. Have just seen the theme of the speech is to be 'the renewal of the American dream'. Lovely.

You've said Putin isn't an imperialist in spite of the fact he's likened himself to Peter The Great. You've concluded the reason the majority of analysts don't agree Mearsheimer is because they're all paid shills.... So while I don't agree that Putin has plans to invade, he absolutely is an imperialist who is engaging in expansionism. Trump and his administration are engaging in propaganda and you're lapping it up.

Agreed, but these thing generally hold because of good faith and a desire to respect the wishes of those who voted for it. We are clearly not in such an era now.

At this stage no-one is still alive who voted the 22nd through, so everything comes down to interpretation of what was intended. As we've seen with Roe v Wade it is is possible for two iterations of the Supreme Court to make completely different judgements on what various articles mean.

I'm far from an expert (a complete legal bluffer really) but the language looks wooly enough to me that faced with it's first legal challenge it may be open to favourable interpretation.

Russia has never been so weak, Europe needs to wake up and start playing dirty, every country cyber attack Russia back into the stone age, start funding sabotage missions in Russia by paying locals to light infrastructure on fire, start harassing their military jets with dangerous maneuvers and constantly fly in and out of their territory forcing them to scramble jets.

Russia does all that sh1t constantly but the EU have to be good boys and girls and play by the rules.

I'm far from convinced they understand the potential impact of tariffs. If Twitter reflects them then they're basically thinking 'Lol maple syrup lol' for imports from Canada.

i think you need to visit an actual third world country.

Ireland has it's problems that's for sure but there is more right here than is wrong.

What on earth are you talking about? There is absolutely no comparison between what America is doing and how it got here to do it and Ireland - none at all .

You could see a scenario where Trump runs as VP, gets elected as VP and then gets the person elected to resign. That way he hasn't been elected as President more than twice.

It all comes down to whether the supreme court has any backbone in this.

Ireland a third world country!..what are you smoking?

We know what was intended. It came about because a president was elected 4 times (re-elected 3 times). The intention was to prevent that. FDR served 4 terms in a row. If it wasn't meant to apply to re-elections then why would he 4 terms be the catalyst for implementing it.

I don't think it is the same as Roe v Wade. I agree with what you are saying though that it really doesn't matter if the supreme court they have just chooses to go around it to get trump a third term. I just don't see how someone could say it is a valid interpretation.

Ireland is a third world country in almost every regard and as for the weather dont get me started.

    Are you having a laugh?

Have you seen the craic in Ecuador, Sudan etc?

Meanwhile Ireland is punching above it's weight in the EU with soft power. And has the highest educated workforce in Europe. Over 50% of people in the ROI have at least a third level degree.

No war peaceful country, sensible media, a free and fair electoral system. And a much better system than the USA/UK in my view. As it means all of society gets a voice in the Dail.

As for the weather means a fine green land, that the likes of Australia would love, there is a whole generation of Australian's known as the "drought generation"

I would gladly never go back to America, I was there once back in 1999. Their chocolate was horrible for a start!

    Indeed, just reading the following:

“Tariffs are actually — we’ve had a lot of experience with them — they’re an act of war, to some degree,” Buffett said in an interview with CBS that aired on Sunday.

The Berkshire Hathaway CEO and billionaire investor said tariffs over time serve as a tax on goods and could raise prices for consumers.

“The Tooth Fairy doesn’t pay ‘em!” Buffett said with a laugh.

Well done. I don't read something this incredibly stupid very often. Maybe like once a year or so. I'd ask you to elaborate but we both know there's no point.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Yeah but what has actually happened? The narratives have certainly changed and Trump & Crew are clearly deranged but what are the actual day to day impacts so far? What impacts have you seen in your life? Actions speak louder than words. Let's see how long these tariffs last and whether a deal can be done with Putin/Zelensky. The war needs to end.

I am not looking forward to 18 more months of sillyness from Trump but I do think he will lose interest soon enough. He will also be forced to see sense if he does stupid things. He is loving the attention for sure but he is a bluffer for the most part.

I'd like to take my hurl to Vance already and I had not heard him speak until last week's disaster in the Oval Office. American politics usually bores me.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Third world in relation to the US is what I meant and have now amended. Its obviously not Third World per say.

The point made was who would want to go to the US, and my response was loads.

Alot of people cannot wait to get out of Ireland.
