Don’t see many of them on the road , I can only think of bad rep and poor resale value that puts people off. Their petrols are not bad. Anyone here owns a relatively new Mazda or knows someone ? Are they easy to live with cars?

Don't see many of them around. Their petrols are reliable but not fast at all. They also don't have much torque.

Went with a work colleague to buy a Mazda 3 Skyactiv X hatchback. It was 3 years old if I remember correctly. Nice car, good interior and looks great. Not very practical as the rear space is poor.

I'd say their diesel engine issues have caused a lot of reputation damage. Awful engineering for that 2.2 diesel engine. Their lack of customer care for those affected left a lot to be desired too.

I just don't see what they do differently. The Skyactiv X engine doesn't deliver enough low down shove or get the mpg a Corolla does. Suspension is on the firm side and other rivals are more practical. Good looking cars though.

All cars have gone down a small bit in terms of finish but Mazda have fallen off a cliff.

I used to be a die hard Mazda man but last time I went car viewing was utterly underwhelmed by their offering. A lot of their interiors were very plasticy.

That said, still a wholly reliable car.

Never took notice of inside. Was in a new suzuki swift lately . Very impressed with dash / plastics

I'm not exactly in the market for a €60k motor but this in Mazda's cherry red would get my order if I was.

by all accounts if they've got it right, the 3.3 diesel is excellent

Probably won’t sell here due to VRT. And I wouldn’t trust a Mazda diesel after the absolute shitshow of the 2.2

For people with young kids and doing short trips I'd consider petrol phev a better option. If it works out less VRT then even better.

There is a fleet of base spec Kodiaks among mates and neighbours. All short journeys with kids, I hope they look after the engine.

Tested cx 30 recently and have mixed feelings. Yes it is fun to go through the gears but it won’t move until you rev it. I am so used to diesel torque now that it does feel unnatural having to rev the engine to get any amount of torque.

Interior is just about OK but I like they have physical buttons for everything.

All in all a good looking car but something lacking and poor re sale value puts me off .

I like the MX5, including the modern ones.
