The fillet steaks in the original link, some have bought them in store but it doesn't show it on the website for some reason.

I put up the original link, but when I follow it now I don't see the one priced at 15.30. What is it called?

I saw this this morning and treated myself. Good value.

Plenty of people in this morning buying up all the flowers. They looked well in fairness.

The gu zillionaire on the meal deal is nice. That fillet steak looks yum. How'd you cook it. Tempted to try reverse searing it as I've never tried cooking a steak that way

Coke Zero 12 pack for €7.50 with clubcard.

Had the fillet steak last night and it was very nice, good thick pieces so I ended up cooking it rare. We rarely have steak in the winter as it makes such a mess to fry indoors, but fillet is actually ok in that respect (would usually buy rib eye for the BBQ).

Sides and dessert also very tasty. Excellent deal all round.

    Tesco Northern Cross today 15/2:

Collected my Meal Deal with the Fillet Steak. Was charged full price. Complained at Customer "Service" desk.

Long palaver - first she said the deal was over, I insisted. Then she checked on her mobile about the deal, could not find fillet steak. I got her to check the display, she came back and offered me €6.31 refund (instead of the correct €8.80).

I asked for "Double the difference" refund. She said she had to call a manager and they were "all on break" and I should go away and come back later. I stood my ground and she called a friendly manager (What break?). Discovered that double the difference was no longer available. :-(

Manager told girl at desk to give me my refund. Girl scanned the food, went to her hand calculator, scanned again, finally refunded me €12.60 which I graciously accepted :-).

Pity they don't do double the difference anymore. In Supervalu, when it was Superquinn, an item was free if there was an overcharge. Not any more. God bless Fergal Quinn.

Double the difference is gone about 10 years!

Indeed you would be called a 'Karen' for being most demanding!

    Tesco policy now is

But if you're charged more than the price on the shelf or the product, we will offer you a refund for the overcharged amount

I did well when they gave a full refund on the product and let you keep it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,322 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

I really think it always should be clarified here that it’s also + €1.80 Deposit

Funnily enough, €7.50 for 12 cans doesn’t feel very bargainy anyway

As mentioned double the difference is gone years (don't think as long as 10 years mind). It was a decent incentive for supermarkets to get their pricing correct whereas now there's no repercussions and I doubt most shoppers wouldn't spot a few items being overcharged from a long weekly shop.

It's a big deal then getting a refund making at it as awkward as possible for the customer. On Fri evening I was in Dunnes, Blanch centre and overcharged on two items which I noticed before exiting the store. No one on the separate customer service desk so mentioned it to one of the floor staff who then had to verify my receipt versus the items on display and thereafter get another to open the customer service desk to issue me my refund for €2.60. It always only works one way also, don't think I've ever been undercharged for an item.

Undercharging is rare.I would take it as a discount to the customer for loyalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,438 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

most of the time, overcharging is a special offer that hasn't been applied for whatever reason (offers being put on the shelf a day early seems to be a common cause). So undercharging would be less likely anyway.

I went to our local Tesco tonight. Used the club card scan n shop mode. Got to the till to be told I have do do a full rescan through a till. I was fuming. When the goods were scanned the value was identical to what I scanned. I should have walked out leaving all the groceries at the till. I asked to speak to the store manager & he told me that it’s Tesco’s T&C’s .

I walked out after telling him I’ll never cross their door again.

That's the hill you're going to die on?

It was annoying sure but nothing out of the ordinary. The till always selects a random shop to check... sometimes 5 items, sometimes the full shop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,191 ✭✭✭DopeTech

I had that recently and the gobshite accused me of not scanning an item. I noticed after leaving and looking at the receipt that it was actually him that never scanned the item so I got it for free! Of the 4 or 5 times I have been in since I have now been checked almost every time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,908 ✭✭✭Nollog

The checks are random, but if you're a * to the staffer they can manually add you to a list for next time. They have quotas, like in everything now, so might just add you for fun.

    Here's why:

Enough of a reason not to go back ( checked every time ). Aside from Getting discounts, using the scanner as one shops is no incentive, as the time saved scanning as you shop goes out the window when you have to be fully re-checked at the till.

Here in Newbridge Dunne’s & Tesco are almost beside each other & I often wondered why Dunne’s car park is always a lot fuller than the Tesco car park. At least I found out one reason last night.
