Yes. There's a question raised by the newsreader as to whether the sum mentioned includes the $55 Billion investment made while Biden was president. It's a worthwhile deal for the US though it will obviously include an unknown number of the Taiwanese workforce in order to secure the deal and provide a safe haven for them and management should things get iffy on Taiwan leading to the closure of it as a safe manufacturing base for the item. The US will definitely need the materials needed to make the goods.

I cant help asking if the recent Gold US Citizenship Card offer to wealthy people is coincidental.

I think this comes out of the same kind of cultural backlash which gave rise to lad culture in the 1990s,

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lad_culture

Lad culture (also the new lad, laddism) was a media-driven, principally British and Irish subculture of the 1990s and the early 2000s. The term lad culture continues to be used today to refer to collective, boorish or misogynistic behaviour by young heterosexual men, particularly university students.

Plus having the presence of thousands of Russian boots on the ground without being able to even mention them in the presence of you know who for fear of upsetting him. It's no wonder that Trump is not putting US boots on the ground.

The Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow model estimates U.S. real GDP growth for Q1 at -2.8%, down from +3.9% just four weeks ago.

    Going well I see.

Trump administration are looking for Zelensky to publicly apologise for what happened in the WH. It very much looks like they want to humiliate him and Europe as well

A friend of mine is a teacher in a more deprived area in the UK. They're having huge problems with the boys latching onto all this ****. They take umbrage at being told what to do by the female teachers. Open misogyny and an obsession with making big money and owning expensive cars is pretty standard behaviour.

It seems to be more than just the usual "the young don't respect their elders". I hope these grifters are all dealt with harshly for all the damage they're doing to society, but some political leaders seem to be openly supporting them which doesn't inspire confidence.

I'm confused, apologize for what? Not wearing a suit?

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Canada and Mexico tarrifs coming in from midnight- Europe likely to be next - don’t see how that can be avoided - it seems counter intuitive - Shirley even a negotiation , additional investment etc etc would all go towards a collaborative uplift for all ? Europe won’t forget this - if Trump wants Europe self sufficient then fine - I never want to eat rancid chemical infused meet- I don’t want to drive badly made and ugly American cars- while our exports will suffer, no doubt Canada and Mexico will be two willing countries to expand their markets - I hope Europe gives America a good kick in the proverbial in return - they deserve it - I can see a list of American companies being developed over time to be boycotted also - it might hurt us a little but if it hurts America more, I’m all for it

Great to hear from Walesa. To be honest I assumed he was dead.

    His remarks hit home.

    Magastasi...

    This from it

"“The prosecutors and the judges, working on behalf of the omnipotent Communist party police, also told us that they held all the cards, and we held none,” they said.

“We are shocked that you treated Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the same way,” they said."

So tariffs on Mexico and Canada because of a very unfair trade deal that he himself made during his first stint and hailed it as great. While proposing to lift sanctions on Russia. It just doesn’t make sense.

    About to get interesting

Speaking Monday at a mining convention in downtown Toronto, Ontario Premier Doug Ford doubled down on threats to cut electricity exports to U.S. border states if the tariffs go through.

“If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do everything — including cut off their energy with a smile on my face,” Ford told reporters.

“They rely on our energy, they need to feel the pain. They want to come at us hard, we’re going to come back twice as hard.”

The United States is a major customer for Canadian electricity, with all American power grids — with the exception of Texas — interconnected with Canadian provinces.

Will they ever have a proper look at themselves though? The country is so polarised now and they voted this guy in twice. I know his poll numbers are way down but the country seems so far gone.

Makes sense if Trump is in Putin's pocket. Looks more and more like it.

I’d say it’s more simply birds of a feather - neither leader respects the rule of law nor is capable of survival in a lawful state - they want no rules -Putin has that- Trump wants it

Just watched the clip of him speaking on FOX while they have a ticker showing the fall on the stock market.

This is what they voted for…

The stock market would be an abstraction to most ordinary Trump voters. Whether it goes up or down, their little towns are still going to stagnate, economically.

Voters aside, his actions today are having a big impact (not in the good way).

    Not having his pen..?

Joking aside, this is classic bully boy deflection tactics. They both know the court of public opinion did not side with their political or diplomatic assault on VZ and all Ukrainians last Friday.

Their grand scheme has blown up in their face. However, both being absolute narcissists, must seek someone to blame rather than acknowledge they acted like spoilt children.

Yeah but it's the ones who could flip next year that would be telling. Those swing voters are a larger cohort than you think.

If this trajectory continues I think we could see the largest turn out ever for a mid-term election.

Good watch on the current state of affairs in USA and in general, with a bit of comedy (ish)

I don't think anything he says is wrong. Left get a lot of blame for teh gains of the right, but as someone that alighs Centre I do have to ask what we are doing in the middle of the 2 also? and how we get out of it

Even if the US and Canada didn't have any common trade, the idea that one would go after the other would have just being unthinkable not a month ago. Now analysts are seriously considering the fallout. It's f*cking mad

It has totally changed where Canadian politics is going also. Trudeau has basically regained his popularity, and the Liberals are neck and neck with the conservatives now.

Buy Canadian signs are up in every single shop now, and the USA products are on sale.

Probably the only positive from Trump, it has united Canada so much. Folks are cancelling trips to the states, myself included, had a motorcycle one planned and we are going to hit up Alberta through the Rockies. So, thank you Donald, I am looking forward to my Canadian motorcycle trip a lot now.

Look at how busy Trump and Co have been in the last month with dismantling the Federal government and really reshaping it to a MAGA vision and then consider that there are around another 20 months until the US midterms. How much confidence would you have that the US midterms are even going to matter by then?

Like, I'm pretty sure that the Project 2025 people behind Trump have considered the potential hindrances to their plans and have measures to counteract them, and this would go some way to explaining why Trump has been pumping out the executive orders since taking office. Get the agenda through, NOW.

By the time it gets to the US midterms, Trump could well be in a position to put his thumb on the scale in a truly unprecedented way for US politics.

According to Bloomberg, the US has halted all military aid to Ukraine. We're going to see if Europe was all talk pretty quickly.

They are the ones who should be doing the apology to Zelenskyy not the other way around.
