A Palestinian sob story, particularly from Gaza, was probably seen as an easy win for them. They likely assumed the general public wouldn’t bother fact-checking the family. That story will now be swept under the carpet.

Pardon, what debunked racist nonsense (your words)? Have those two studies been "debunked" by anyone credible? So please supply relevant links to the studies that do so.

When most of us say "social justice" we mean equality under the law opposition to prejudice, discrimination and equal opportunities for all. When Social Justice Activists say "social justice" they mean an emphasis on group identity over the rights of the individual, a rejection of social liberalism, and the assumption that unequal outcomes are always evidence of structural inequalities.

Yes, we should be allowed to complain about them not integrating

If you are suffering in your own county due to persecution for various reasons, then you absolutely are seeking a better life!

van de Beek's study is not peer reviewed because it can't be. He doesn't give citation of where he got his stats or methodology. i.e he made it up.

He received 30k from a racist loons for publishing a ball of nonsense, The University of Amsterdam demanded they have there logo removed from it.

    It's absolute junk.

As for the other publication, I don't read Danish. I imagine that has been completely misinterpreted as well.

Why is it bleeding heart nonsense to report that a child was deported on this plane if in fact there was a child deported on this plane?

If you want to have a sustainable policy for dealing with illegal migration, it can't be founded on the basis that it's better to just ignore the human reality behind it all. I dont think ignoring those realities is going to be particularly useful in striking the right balance in these things between the interests of managing migration and the interests of human wellbeing, particularly that of children.

The detractors of immigration want everyone who doesn't share their alarmist view to own every instance of every migrant doing every bad thing. I don't see why they should expect not to have that put to them too. If you support deportations, then that will include the deportation of children, so that's a reality you and all of us who think deportations are necessary just have to own — even if you wish RTE would shush about it.

Whenever you see people howling over Ukrainians in the country you will never ever see them mention the reason why the Ukrainians are here in the first place lol.

They are here for one reason and one reason only, and once that Goblin cnut is in the ground Ukraine will see the biggest economic boom since the end of WWII and a large amount of Irish will be heading over for the building boom.

The Ukrainians are here for a legit reason......now all the other young single guys who are showing up without the wife and kids yeah that's bollox, women and children first apparently doesn't apply

It is less miraculous than you present it, education accounts for the majority of it and they are essentially at a minimum required to complete a language course to remain in receipt of a Jobseekers payment. Poland purports to have a 65% employment rate for Ukrainian refugees…

Same reason their piece on the Palestinian family last night was bleeding heart. It's completely emotive. There's no substance to it. It's puff piece to push the bleeding heart agenda and remove any critical thinking from the situation.

Why was it headline news that a child was in the deported? Would it make more sense to orphan the child and keep them here?

There's no reason other than emotive reasons for the headline.

it’s “bleeding heart nonsense” because they believe the value of a human life varies based on the passport they hold.

So they sneer and scoff at deportees being less than themselves. It’s pretty basic bigotry.

Yesterday was an expensive “photo op”. Chartering a plane that holds up to 180 people to being 32 people home. Waste of money for PR purposes.

We should be regularly removing adults, children, families.

For example, in the largest homeless hub for families, the Houben hub, there are as follows:

"The Calauz family is one of 62 families at the hub, 17 are Irish and 45 are from countries including Somalia, Romania, Germany, and South Africa."

If the Germans and Romanians can't take care of themselves, they can be removed under EU law.

Not necessarily. That depends on how long they have been here and if they worked and for how long. EU citizens are entitled to the same social assistance as Irish citizens once they fulfill certain criteria.

    This is genuinely astounding

It’s total incompetence on the part of RTE or it’s clear disinformation to drive the narrative they want. Either is unacceptable from the national broadcaster.

I will be writing to my local TD to highlight this as well as the Minister for Media and the Minister for Justice. I will be very interested to hear their justifications for any of this.

I will also be writing to Coimisiún na Meán

I would encourage anyone else to do the same.

I've sent emails to the BBC and sky news asking them to highlight this case. And a couple of newspapers.

There is no obligations or onus only generosity which we as small populated nation with no malice to others in our history have been overly generous. Time to rein it in.

Great get that out to nearby nations to take more so per population because they should have taken more from day 1. Instead of some small country on the fringes of europe

Ukraine is a large country most of it is not effected by the war economically only so many can be regarded as economic migrants. Those who came from the war zones should only have been given temporary protection.20 percent are working and rely on state accommodation how wonderful ,the remainder required all services the costs astounding 2.8 billion in 2 years .

    Statista .

Theres a good article about the Irish immigration problem in the daily mail.co.uk today title .Irelands asylum backlash

We have 33,000 migrants here seeking international protection some from non eu countries Ukrainians are also coming here to avoid military draft theres a building boom building asylum accomodation The government bought a large office in central Dublin it .ll be turned into migrant accomodation it does not even have to comply with normal planning rules no need to inform local people about change of use people refused asylum in the UK are coming here even if they are refused asylum they can still stay here for years

Theres an article at spectator.co.uk saying the whole asylum system in the UK should be scrapped

Stop the Georgians at Dublin airport. Don't allow them across immigration.

That goes for all the rest.

If they come from Belfast have them returned there.

They come back down they are thrown in jail.

That would save a lot of money on repatriation flights.

Either they're fleeing the war or they're not, flying home for medical treatment, unbelievable.

If people would rather fly to a war zone than wait on the HSE, that a damning indictment of the Irish healthcare system. Not of the people themselves.

No matter what, you can’t deny Ukraine is a war zone. They are fleeing a war. Which is likely to get worse, given Trump’s carry on.

DailyMail goes to the IPA office queue, Capuchin centre, Citywest complex, and elsewhere

I meet a Nigerian man with a huge wheeled suitcase still bearing the EasyJet tag from his flight from Britain.  He tells me he has come here because the UK was about to deport him to Nigeria 'and I have no relatives there'.

In happier moods are Hussein Ahmed, from Bangladesh, and his wife. They arrived six months ago, seeking asylum because 'things were bad with the family', but are here to register the birth of their new baby girl.  She thus, becomes an Irish citizen in perpetuity.

I meet Moroccan brothers, Mohamed and Mouhssine, who had been living in London for five years before claiming asylum here this month 'because London is too expensive now'. They share a room in a hotel with free meals and a weekly allowance of 38.80 euros. I ask them what they are fleeing in their hometown of Marrakesh, a year-round tourist destination for the British.  They laugh. 'It is good for tourists but not for les pauvres,' says Mohamed, adding that they used to return there every few months to see the family.

The UK is sometimes described as 'a soft touch' for undocumented migrants. Compared to Ireland, it seems almost Dickensian.

    No she doesn't.

Personally I'm shocked the Daily Mail would not fact check one of their articles.

They are usually a Bastian of journalistic integrity.

Australia is not in the eu if a migrant arrived with no visa and a criminal record they would be sent back on the next plane .people from Africa and non eu country's are arriving here and sent to hostels. Of course they go to hostels .they have no money to pay rent. Most migrants go to the UK .eg the standard of living here is higher than Africa .hostels have wifi and a tv in most rooms I think far right partys are getting more voters in the eu because people are fed up with immigration policy's also the German economy is not in good shape
