We're not the ones invaded. It's important for Ukrainians to see hat theres always an open ear across Europe, especially with mad lad in the White House.

with regards to Trumps comments at the Macron press conference ,his first cabinet meeting and in relation to security guarantees that VZ is looking for , there is , at least , two pieces of the jigsaw ‘ missing , namely :- (1) When the US citizens - senior management and other workers working in eastern UKr extracting the ‘rear earths’ - and as Trump said Russia will ‘not go near them’ while they are there - what will be the status of the proverbial PEACEKEEPERS when the Americans will leave having exhausted the mines?

    (2) Where is the ‘agreed’ border when the mining is going on and where will it be when the mining is finished? Maybe the whole idea is to fudge the whole issue and no (1) above will be ongoing for time immemorial?

A naval rotary anti-aircraft cannon on a truck?

Where have I seen that before?

Don't get me wrong, there is certainly an element of barrel-scraping in the Russian military, but that's more evidence of adjustment to the operational environment as opposed to desperation.

I would say one burst from that gun costs more than a dozen drones.

Maybe. But there is an argument that the danger of a drone isn't the cost of the drone. Recon is priceless.

Have to agree here. That "Dalek gun" seems more like the quadruple Maxim mount that the Ukrainians cooked up in the early days of the 2022 invasion for air defence: Looks weird, but can put a LOT of rounds downrange when needed.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Andrew Tate, 38, and his brother Tristan, 36 heading to US,

Romanian prosecutors said the travel ban had been lifted, and the pair's US passports had been returned to them, it came after US special envoy Richard Grenell raised the Tate brothers with Romania's Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu at the Munich Security Conference.

The Tates have been vocal supporters of US President Donald Trump, while his close adviser, Elon Musk, restored Andrew Tate's account on X after he bought the social media platform.

They are expected at the White House Saturday, where they will receive the medal of honour for their actions of inspiring young woman in online businesses and studies, and are expected to sit in on negotiations with Russia and Ukraine in the coming weeks.

The Berehove mine is one of the largest gold mines in Ukraine and in the world.[1] The mine is located in the south-west of the country in Zakarpattia Oblast.[1] The mine has estimated reserves of 14.4 million oz of gold and 144 million oz of silver.[1] The mine also has ore reserves amounting to 300 million tonnes grading 1.5% lead and 2.1% zinc.

A better bet, than fictional minerals Dunno why Trump didn't go for the gold

That last paragraph can't be real.

Never underestimate how low Trump can go.

If it is true, I think we can expect a raft of previous medal of honour recipients to return theirs in protest.

    They're eating the dogs.

Of course it can be real.

Weirdly, America is so in the grip of the "anything that annoys the libs must be good for America" mentality of governance, this might actually happen. I wouldn't put any of this past the ongoing crazy.

We're a few weeks away from Trump signing into law that future recipients of the death penalty are to be executed by Monster Truck rally.

The biggest clue to why the whole "rare earth mining" is an empty narrative is that the USA isn't short of identified deposits already but they stuff they do dig up they still send to China for refining.

It's hard to know who's saying what behind closed doors in Washington but I reckon there was a lot of republican senators and congress sitters who are military veterans who had no problem making their ire felt when Trump started cosying up to Putin. This whole minerals deal seems like a way for Trump to look like his previous insults to Ukraine were all part of the art of the deal, because only he makes the best deals, really they're the best, tremendous, everyone loves it etc……..

Big danger for the Trump regime is 'anything that annoy the libs' is soon going to be annoying the MAGA crowd as well. The anti-woke and culture war nonsense is not going to put a meal on anyone's table or a single extra cent in anybody's pocket.

New cabinet minister for Women’s Health and Human trafficking

By this stage trump admin is just full on trolling mode

I read somewhere that some MAGA government employees who got sacked were complaining that Trump was firing the "wrong people"! Did they not think that an anti government candidate would work in their interests?

    It is obviously not true.

That they exerted pressure on Romania to allow people suspected of such disgusting crimes is bad enough.

With former MME fighter Tate sent packing it's a good time to remember British cage fighter Conor McGregor called Putin "one of the greatest leaders in our time" back in 2018.

The USA is certainly in for a bumpy ride, and I don't think anyone can really help Russia avoid structural implosion in the long run.

Even if Trump dropped dead of a heart attack in front of a live audience they'll still be a rabid core who'll swear their leader was taken out. I don't know where MAGA ends, but rather than improving anything it certainly is making things worse.

On the plus side the crazier things get in the US the more it pushes the UK back towards harmony with Europe.

They won't care. Suffering is part of the Christian experience, it means you're closer to Jesus.

According to what the $5,000 suit wearing, gold plated microphone wielding, seven $20m mansion for-every-member-of-the-family owning, 3 different private jet taking, billionaire worshipping preachers tell the MAGA masses that is.

Who cares about food and bills, once America is great again, that's all that matters. So what if they're hungry and broke, they're saving America under the one true Trump with their sacrifice. They'll believe anything bar what's obviously the truth.

Little wonder they defer to Russia; Russia being all about being white, Christian and anti-gay, these guys see Russia as something to aspire to. Little wonder Trump bends over for the Russians, he has to keep the cult happy.

appreciate correction . One learns something everyday. It can be an important abstention but one wonders what the hidden agenda is, if any?

I agree that Russia has problems with maintaining the offensive. However, Putin does not want peace or even a ceasefire.

I repeat: there will be no peace agreement in the near future, 6 months at least, likely more.

All the recent talk is just fluff, Russians fake an interest to squeeze as many concessions from Trump as possible. I don't know how clued in you are in what Russian media and official say, but here is the gist: "We want peace, where Ukraine disbands its army, surrenders its independence and elects a pro-Russian president and the parliament. Russia will be the guarantor of peace, that is if Ukrainians elect someone Russia does not like, we will impose the compliance militarily. Plus give us the oblasts that we haven't fully occupied yet, plus Odessa and Nikolaev, so that Ukraine has no sea access".

The reasons why Russians are talking to Trump is also clear from what they say — "Trump is great, and we would have made a great deal with Trump if Biden didn't steal his election in 2020. But before we can talk about peace, we should normalise our relationship with the great Trump land. First — fully reopen the embassies (to let all the FSB operatives and spies into the USA). then let our ministers hammer out the deal on lifting sanctions, and then we can talk about how the USA can help us to pressure Ukraine into surrender".

But all of this is a delaying tactic anyway, Russia hopes to get something from the useful idiot/plant Trump before it even considers talking about a ceasefire. Any cessation of war is not in Putin's interest, he is not going to survive for long after the war ends, unless it ends in the destruction of Ukraine.
