Collecting a new car shortly. Dealer has advised the below are available options. I wonder are any of them actually worth getting? Opinions would be welcomed. Thanks

    • BMW Advanced Eye 3.0(Dash Cam front & Rear)
    • BMW Protect X
    • 36 month Cosmetic Repair Insurance
    • 36 month Shortfall/Gap Insurance
    • 3YR Tyre Insurance
    • All weather Pack
    • 5 year, 100,000 km Service Plan

The service plan is probably the only thing that's good value. The gap insurance is worth considering with a new car but the rest is just upselling crap with big margins for the dealer.

if it is an MSport with runflats - consider the 3 Year tyre insurance. I wished I took it out on my 2020 G20 as it was about €350 for the three years and I replaced 6 tyres over that period due to bulges in the sidewalls caused by the state of my local roads.

the advanced Eye would be something i'd consider

Thanks. As far as I know they have stopped doing the run flats, I think it’s the ordinary tires now on it. The service pack seems to have gotten very expensive compared to the last time I bought one in 2018

Everything has gone up in price the last few years, parts, labour, etc. I won't be any cheaper paying for each service individually but I guess it depends on your annual mileage and how long you plan to keep the car.

dash cam and service pack for me.
Yes you’ll get a cheaper nextbase system but the bmw eye is a nice integrated option.

Did you manage a discount on the BMW? I'm trying to get one but 2 dealers are asking for over 2k more vs. the configurator. Such a put off! :(

Service plan and dashcam , definitely.
I've had BMW advanced eye 1, 2 and 3 in recent cars. Not cheap but works seamlessly and doesn’t drain the battery !

How much are they charging for the dashcam? It's a nice polished system, but still isn't directly integrated into the cars infotainment which is a bit annoying, and I'm not sure the video quality matches the top-end aftermarket systems.

I've posted here before about clean, and airbag safe dashcam installs, and IMO many installer don't give two **** how it's done. The other thing to consider is warranty - a third party hardwired install could be blamed for any electrical problem.

All that considered, I'd consider if it was below €600 (ie: €300 Viofo + 200 install fee + 100 time saving).

Configurator does not include dealer delivery charges, PDI, plates etc but you should negotiate on that.
