theres clearly an element of the behaviors of major broadcasters as to why so many are now engaging in such activities,

I think there's clearly an cohort of people that don't seem to understand that it costs a lot of money to broadcast live sports to the level that UK broadcasters do.

And I think there's clearly a cohort of people that don't realize that the cost of seeing their team multiple times a week and seeing them be successful is the price of a Sky Sports or TNT sub.

People may think it's extraordinate, but they still have to cover the costs of producing the product that people want and make a profit.

Primetime is utter propaganda these days.

Since Covid it has lost all the credibility that it once had.

Miriam O Callaghan is stealing a living on it.

My sub has Picture in Picture, so I can watch something else during half time while the clowns tell us exactly what we’ve seen with our own eyes, without missing the start of the second half.

Carra at it again. After his spoof about Haaland scared to play against Rudiger hes getting grief over AFCON comments. Now hes calling other pundits clowns on Instagram. He'll be spitting in the studio next. Someone should make a list. Wasn't he steamin live on Sky a while back reporting from Germany 😆. A million quid a year salary I'll not be contributing to.

Its nothing got to do with sky. I'd watch football daily usually if their is a decent game on.

The reason I've iptv on my firestick is because I can watch any football game I want live. This is not possible without a firestick

For example, Id follow a team in the English Championship, although sky show a lot of their games on the new sky+, they don't show any games on Sat at 3pm so without iptv I'd never see them play on Sat at 3 (apart from the 2/3 trips over a design to watch it in person)

Last night I watched Barcelona V Athletico Madrid on the firestick. This game wasn't available to watch in the UK and Ireland unless you illegally streamed it

Tonight only for Liverpool are playing Newcastle, which should be a good game I'd be watching Real Soceidad V Real Madrid (a game not available on tv in Ireland or UK)

A lot of people don't understand how broadcasting rights work.

They think Sky could show every EPL game but don't because they just want to keep the public looking for more.

They also don't understand the costs involved in buying and producing broadcasts and think they should get everything for a nominal x euro per month.

Finally they think that a new entrant in the market will some how make things cheaper, when the opposite is the case.

…or maybe people such as myself, simply dont care!

…we re not stupid, we know broadcasting is bloody expensive, but again, we dont care!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,332 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

Believe me I don't care either, I happy to use my dodgy box.

But I know why official services cost what they do, and why broadcasters can't just broadcast what they want

The clubs don't care about fans either so why should any football fan care about paying a few quid to IPTV instead of lining the pockets of the rich?

The only subscription I pay for is LOI TV and that's only because I know my club gets money for you wch subscription.

The funny thing about that is I use my IPTV to watch all LOI games not on live TV as I can't be bothered using a diff app

The clubs don't care about fans either so why should any football fan care about paying a few quid to IPTV instead of lining the pockets of the rich?

It's very hard to separate the fan from the club.

Regardless of what stunts a club plays or how rich the owners are their fans will always find some way to excuse continuing putting more money in the owners pockets.

Yeah the new owner of Utd is a prick for taking away the non playing staff canteen, but I do really like the new away shirt so I'll spend close to €100 on it anyway.

I think the existence of broadcasters helps buffer the clubs.

It's easier to blame Sky for their high prices than blame your club for being part of the cartel that demands the high prices for the rights.

After the European super league drama a few years ago John Barnes was spot on when he said for all the talk about fan power fans achieved absolutely nothing that week, tickets, merch, TV subs etc were still going to be getting more and more expensive all to the detriment of fans.

Match going fans in England especially Prem league are fed up at this stage at the clubs milking them dry

Protests weekly at games over ticket prices

Clubs don't give a **** though, if William OAP from Manchester gives up his £600 season ticket, they don't care they can re sell it as a normal priced season ticket for more money or even better sell seats separately each week to re sale websites where gobshites from Ireland and further away pay a few hundred quid each match with a free beer thrown in pre match etc

Do you not check TV guides? That Spanish Game tonight is on Premier Sports. And I presume last night's Spanish Cup game was on Premier Sports also.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭harryharry25

I never thought of checking premier sports, sorry only checked Sky and TNT

I'd watch all my football on Optus Sports, Bein Sports or sky sports New Zealand on the firestick as skys commentators and analysis is a shambles, with them just looking few min clips to put on social media of Neville and Carragher talking shite

If you go to irish independent homepage and look at their cookie popup, they have over 190 "partners" harvesting your data and building profiles of you as you browse. You don't need a dodgy box subscription to have your data harvested and sold on, and these guys are collecting fa more info on you than anything a dodgy box seller can do with your email address

Just noticed that my IPTV App has a 4 days rolling record service for all main entertainment channels.

Comes in handy if you've forgotten to record something.

Except for rugby/gaa, i haven't watched a tv channel in years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,480 ✭✭✭jj880

Yes great to have especially if you miss something on uk channels. Called Catch Up in mine. 7 days worth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭tiegan

Called catch up on mine too - only 4 days though.

Can anyone with an iptv app tell me if they can get the sky sports + channels on the app? I have all the channels but there is nothing on any of them. Been trying to watch some of the tennis from Indian Wells that is on sky sport +/now tv app, but its not on my providers app. Although I have been in touch to ask. Just wondering if anyone else can get soccer or whatever you happen to be into on the app on the sky sports + channels? Or am I expecting too much?

Same for me, 40 Sky+ channels but none work. Maybe we have the same provider! You should be able to get it on one of the other channels if you want to go looking through them all which is a pain.

    Edit

It's on Sky sports main event.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭tiegan

Yes, but they only show the one court at a time on main event - on the sky sports + app and now tv you can choose whichever match you want to see at a particular time. I just don't understand why we have those channels with nothing on them. But it must be the same for the soccer on a Saturday? There must be a way …… I will keep pushing!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,515 ✭✭✭batistuta9

check today around 12:30/1 there's football on. I've never actually watched them but think they only go live just before the event from memory of group chat & where ever the source is would have to have it set to be streaming too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,321 ✭✭✭SteM

Mine defiantly shows football on the sky sports+ channels, not checked any other times tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭tiegan

Ok thanks both of you, I will check the channels for the football later on today. If that is working I know that it is possible and will have to work on getting my provider on board with the tennis. No small task I imagine!

    Came across this yesterday

"Sky Broadband Users ONLY – Read This Before Accepting Their “Upgrade”!

Sky is rolling out a new white router, but don’t be fooled – this is a trap.

If they offer you a “free router upgrade,” refuse it immediately. These new routers are completely locked down, meaning you CANNOT disable Sky Shield. That gives them full control over what you can and can’t access online.

Some services that block VPNs will make it even harder to bypass their restrictions.

This is a deliberate move by Sky to crack down on IPTV and force you into their controlled ecosystem.

Don’t let them dictate your internet freedom.

Want real control over your broadband?  These providers profit off you while restricting your experience, making it as frustrating as possible.

Switch to an ISP  (internet Service provider) that respects your rights and puts you in charge of your own internet.

Basically avoid SKY broadband at all costs."

Who do we think gives users the most control over their connection?

Im with digiweb 500Mb. As far as I can see the fritz!box is excellent and completely unlocked. I did think they were obstructing my IPTV in some way but recently Ive been followed the advice on here to reset router and clear IPTV app cache and everything is running fine.

Fyi my UK Sky Sports+ Tennis section is not working. There is a Tennis TV section though showing all the matches after a channel refresh...

I had sky last year with no issues. I have eir at the moment with no issues and the father in law has virgin with no issues. Our provider does usually recommend a VPN to UK users if getting blocked by isp so possibly we'll have to use one over here as well if a block starts happening but I don't think they are allowed block a VPN as they are completely legal

And yep clearing the cache and restarting your device is always a great idea, as often as possible
