    Ok Cabal is deffo out to get ya and throws platoons at you if it seems you may be doing well . I'm positive now .

    I had 4 lives for the first time ever and at the start of 3-1 or 3-2, can't remember.

    I was on about 900, 000 and rubbing my hands in anticipation.

    3 choppers appeared at the very start which I've never have before (I think) . Then the enemies just piled on ..at one stage I swear to god there was 4 choppers , about 8-9 men , a couple of tanks and god knows what else and they didn't stop until I lost 2 lives in quick succession . And then another soon after .

    .

    That's it I'm taking a rest . I need another day or 2 cabal detox and maybe some deep breathing exercises with the soothing sound of whales .

    Cabal lives And breathes ..it's artificial intelligence I tell ya .

    Got a great run, got to 4th level boss by the skin of my teeth .first time reaching level 4. It seems a lot easier . The gracious cabal god's seem to have laid off on me.The amount of grenades I got was mad

    In fairness that took me an hour and a half ...every time I lose a life early I just start again. And a full run is about 30 mins there or there abouts

    This time i lost one really in 2nd stage but plowed ahead and was the better for it .

    From the start to level 4 you get about 3 bonus life's from high scores so it's grand.

    My tin foil hat theory now is that if ya lose a life here and there then the game doesn't throw the kitchen sink at you 😬

    I was able to decompile the source code and it goes

    If player.level >= 2-3

    And

    Player.life >=3

    Then

    F**CK them up

    Else

    Take it handy on them .

    End

    That's the ranking system I was talking about. Some Shoot'em ups like Ibara even base themselves around the ranking system. The better you do the more **** the game throws at you. It resets or drops if you lose a life. Darius Gaiden actually has one but it's no where as insane as Cabal.

    My strategy is usually to try and stock up on grenades as well. They can be a great crowd control option or just to throw at a chopper as they tend to distract from the madness.

    Yeah I use em for chopper but I get distracted getting them , and usually when ya pump the stretcher lads full of lead that ranking system kicks in as you try to collect them ...same as when a gun appears . I always take my eye off the ball whilst doing so and eat a bullet.

    I'll see how I get on but I needed a break tonight and that run felt like a fluke. There's also the other factor I have to deal with, the girlfriend wanting to get some sleep and not have to deal with my swearing.

    Haaa ..my missus used to hit the roof when I played street fighter on my madcatz arcade stick at night. The sound of mashing sanwa buttons ringing throughout the house all night and me shouting and cursing the house down whilst smoking furiously.

    I even had a punching bin...a small metal bin I used to let loose on and dent in frustration

    Im away this week end so may not have the chance to retaliate

    Two goes there that were complete disasters. Didn't make it off the beach. I'm done. Going to play Dragon Quest to calm down.

    Fair play to you guys with those scores. I went from finding it enjoyable to begin with to hair pullingly frustrating.

    Stadium Events was relaxing in comparison!

    I was slightly thinning on the crown of my hair but after cabal I've gone full Terry Nutkins.
