Anyone know how one would go about getting permission for rat shooting in or around county Dublin.

Preferably where they are living in large numbers, example chicken or pig farms.

Drop into farms, introduce yourself, and offer your services.

Same as any permission.

Most are glad of the free pest control.

As you are on the subject of shooting rats what is the best method for shooting rats. I love shooting rats as there seems to be plenty around. Most people are delighted to be shut of them.

Put out food for a while Near a hide don't use the hide until they get used to it then get into the hide after a few days with a air rifle.

I do that but when I shoot one the rest do a runner.

If you don't own a air rifle you can use kolbri 22 out a ruger rifle or pistol wouldn't use in a cz' or open season has some plastic pellet shells orginally for riot control but i find them handy for killing rats without blowing a hole through my deck.

You can only use a pistol at a range for target shooting.
