Would the best approach here be 2 gates into a removable pillar across the outside space and then double gates inside the new shed that is open!

Any advice is appreciated before I go at it

Yes I would say you have it spot on but what is open space going to be used for ?

What width is the open space between rsj's ?

Looking at it I would say a 3 gate strategy, one fixed post and one in a sleeve.

Basically a 10-12 gate hung off pillar of the shed with the sliding door in pic 1. This would met the a post with that would be with 2 wide gates closing the long span of nearly 30ft. The removable post would be only a post for the latches of the gate. Make sure that the hangers will let you swing the gate thru 270 Deg as it will swing back by the outside walls when opened

My reasoning is that there seems to be a good bit of traffic passing the shed with the sliding door in pic one. The extra gate gives a straight drive into open fronted shed in pic 2 by only opening 1 gate. A lot depends on the direction of traffic both machines and cattle

It all depends on what you're intending to use the area for.

Are you going to pour a yard there? Will you go square off the new shed if this is the plan? Will you want to have a holding pen or 2 between the sheds or will it only be movement of cattle across the area?

Will you be feeding cattle in the open shed? If you are, a swinging feed barrier might be a better option than double gates.

I wouldn't be fond of double gates myself as one will be wasted opening against the wall.

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciated. I was going to concrete it all. A swing feeding barrier is a good shout.

Was half thinking for machinery or for animals calving early to separate them from the other shed
