The FTTH line down our lane was cut by tractor hedge cutters.

What experience do people have of OpenEir repair times please ?

    Thanks !

A few years ago around my area it took them a week to repair a fibre line broken by a falling tree.

Took them two weeks to repair mine in rural Tipperary. Tractor knocked a pole back in 2018. Its probably a lot better now. I live in an Urban area now thankfully have SIRO

They're saying two poles need to be repaired and that it'll take a week.

Have a scheduled repair date - it'll have been 12 days from the report date

    Initial report 28/11

Crew to replace poles came on 12t/12

    Service restored 13/12

FTTH severed after the storm. Logged fault with Pure Telecom on 24th Jan was told 5-6 working days but likely delays. When ringing the number today it said up to 20 working days. In Galway and not seeing any Openeir vans on the road so not holding much hope for repair in the near future.

Similar story here in the Midlands. No phone line since the storm on 24th January. Logged a fault on the 28th and no update since. I don't understand why Pure can't provide updates on their website that customers can check supply restoration times. Saw one Eir van for the first time today since the storm.

Have been ringing Vodafone trying to get updates for the last two weeks. Finally told me the truth that they have no idea about when the line will be repaired as that's OperEirs remit and there's been no contact. Zero effort on their part to update me but did try to RENT me a mobile dongle, even after I told them my mobile signal was poor.

There has been very little information given to providers in general. Its frustrating but there's been a lot of damage done by the storm. It's hard to update someone when there's no update to give.

Then the providers should be demanding updates. They pay to use the infrastructure and have a customer base to serve.

I live in north Galway and spoke to a friend in east Galway last night. Exactly same situation with his provider( Eir I think). No updates and no idea when the service will be repaired.

If we lived in Dublin with this disruption, it would be at the top of news bulletins and front pages of newspapers.

Got a phonecall from Pure Telecom this morning thinking it would be an apology for lack of service and a reassurance that it would be repaired soon but instead got a threatening individual saying that the collection agency would be called if I didn't pay my bill 🤣

You can imagine how the call progressed from there…

Got two further calls to the same effect in the afternoon. Phone companies really are the scum of the earth.
