The oom for previous comp had all counties together, if they shortlisted the top 400 only 200 might of had dublin

Oh good to see some movement. Good luck everyone in the shortlisting phase. I take it if you are in top 260 you will hear one way or other soon enough and below that is still the waiting game…

Ah ok, cheers! I was getting a bit despondent there, but that sounds a bit better! I wonder will the talk of increased days in the office mean less people outside Dublin would be likely to take AP jobs in Dublin, might it make the Dublin panel move quicker..

The previous competition allowed you to select two regions. This competition only allows you to select one region. Hence, combined OOM makes no zero sense for this competition whereas I can see the logic for a combined OOM if you could select more than on region (I don't agree with the logic but I get it).

Based on the OOMs people posted and the test scores, it is not a single OOM and region specific for this competition.

The above purely based on posts in this thread i.e. I don't "know" the answer.

Good shout, great info on the shortlisting numbers Ciaran1239. I was in the 400s on the open so fingers crossed for second batch.

I also am very confused about how this oom is working. I was much closer to the inter d oom cut off than the open. Based on the numbers they gave I have a decent chance of getting shortlisted from a second batch of that sooner than the open, but then how does that work? Would I still be on the open oom? It seems arcane.... Anyway moot point for me for now; I'll live in hope for a second batch

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows if this AP open competition will be happening again in 2025? Also just wondering what peoples experience were after applying in this competition, were the interview's difficult? I'm currently in private sector looking for a move to C.S. I know I will need to take a salary drop so just trying to educate myself on all options. Thanks

Thanks, And would you know if there are more AP open competitions happening again in 2025?

Probably not open but there may be specialist streams or posts

Ok thanks, that's a pity, is the best way to hear about these posts on publicjobs.ie?

Register for job alerts using the title of the role as keywords.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 469 ✭✭skidmarkoner

Yes you can set an alert, but I often check it for buzz words. You won't miss a job if you check once a fortnight. You may be under pressure to submit the application though so I check atleast once a week

Hi, I missed the 2024 open competition so waiting for the next one also.

it says in the description of the 2024 AP competition that “It is not envisaged that appointments will be made after the 12th December 2025 from a panel established under this 2024 competition.”

Does that not suggest that they will have another AP competition at the end of next year for 2026 appointments? I don’t know the system so that was just what I concluded but others who are in the CS may have more info?

They will more than likely extend the current competition than run a new one.

Thanks for this, I was looking at the site and it seems like it does get updated frequently so once a week makes sense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 beau20

Yes saw that too, fingers crossed it is extended.

PAS said they "hope" to issue shortlisting results for batch 1 Dublin (open OOM 260 and interdepartmental OOM 167) in late Feb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 emilbronte

thanks for the info, obviously I’m hoping they won’t extend it but it makes sense given how much has gone into forming this panel for both the CS and the candidates.

Shortlisting out. Thankfully passed. Those candidates who achieved a total score of 273 or higher from Dublin and total score of 172 or higher from Mayo will be invited to Stage 3 .

Moved up 100 places myself and through to the next round to be interviewed.

Seems to suggest that shortlisting is based on total score rather than order of merit. I wonder is this a mistake

    Congratulations!

Have they given any indication around interview dates? Best of luck with them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,605 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

a friend of mine who was in the top 100 has not progressed. He received 30 something marks on one category. It stated 40 marks was needed to pass

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,566 ✭✭✭bren2001

    Thanks!

From their message: "We are currently inviting those candidates who achieved a total score of 273 or higher from Dublin and total score of 172 or higher from Mayo to Stage 3 of the selection process - Main Interview and Practical Exercise. It is envisioned that Stage 3 will take place in March. Candidates who achieved a total score lower will be called forward in due course."

I passed shortlisting (barely). My OOM increased as a result but delighted I passed anyway. Didn't get into the first round of interviews, my score is around the 200 mark. Best of luck to all being called for interviews next. Please let us know how you get on. Also the timeline you are given notice and hear results etc.

Came close but didn’t quite pass, knew going into it I was a bit light on experience so can’t say I’m too disappointed.
Interesting to see how other people found the scoring.

    No I think that's correct
