Gone in summer most likely, with Erik Ten Hag replacing him. Spurs would take CL football, 3 finals, 2 cup wins.

Looking as Spurs, again we should appreciate our owners and how we're run

Yeah mate, but you know mate, their entire team are injured and even their tea lady hurt her arm mate, you don't see anyone writing about them though, do you mate? 😋

Sure, and by that logic there is simply no chance whatsoever of Leicester city, a team who almost got relegated the season before, would ever win the league the following season, no chance whatsoever….oh wait…football is a funny old game and strange things can happen, especially now when it's as much about mentality as it is football skills.

Just out of curiosity what exactly are you trying to achieve by coming in here telling us all how impossible it is that we don't win the league from here? Nobody cares mate tbh. Just forget about it

It's based on being a Liverpool fan for 30 years.

Just for clarification purposes, I never once said it was impossible Liverpool don't win the PL title from here. Not once. It's a sad state of affairs when many Liverpool fans need to twist and contort what's being said - all to give rise to the most pessimistic thoughts having some sense of a basis in reality.

Jaysus, I'd hate to have your perspective of the last 30 years as a Liverpool fan - it must be pretty grim. Imagine thinking the worst all the time, even as the team and players in front of you prove how good they are week after week.

Anyways, I'll leave it there. I just hope those players who lost hardly any football matches this season don't all collapse and die with exhaustion over this period of 5 games in 14 days. If they don't all die, they might, they just might win the PL title.

Player fatigue is most certainly a thing and players sometimes need a rest. The opposite is also true. MacAlluster, Grav and Sobo were well off it the last time. Some players need to be playing to keep their form. A week long break at this stage of the season can sometimes have the opposite effect.

Something to be aware of for all of us fans who are really hoping we win the league, but have been burned enough times in previous seasons to still worry that it could still all go wrong :- We are probably going to lose at least one more game. It could be tomorrow night, it could be in May. But we are probably gonna lose a game or two, and drop points here and there. As far as I know, only three teams have lost less than 2 games in a Premier League Season, so the chances of us going unbeaten for the rest of the season are pretty slim. We just need to remember that when it happens, that doesn't mean we have blown our chances!

Of course, Arsenal will probably drop points too! Ideally, when we do drop points, hopefully they will do so at around the same time (as has happened in the last couple of months) so that there is no momentum shift. If we can keep them at arms' length, then we should win the league. If we drop points when they don't, and they get much closer to us, that's could cause a momentum change and it will get really nervy then!

I think the City game will be a real challenge which is why 3 points tomorrow is very important

Benfica or PSG then can't see Brest coming back from 3-0 down tomorrow night

Already decided that I'm gonna skip that one and hope we get through to the quarters. Hope I don't regret it!

Benfica would be a great draw

Just took a look at the table from this time last year - after 25 games we were top, with just 3 points less than we have now. And of course in the end we finished 9 points behind City and 7 behind Arsenal in the end. Now, a big difference of course is that City are out of the running - but interestingly, despite all the negative talk on Arsenal, they only have 2 fewer points than the same time last season, with their best player due back in a few games time.

So it's no surprise some of us are a wee bit cautious about getting too carried away, particularly as we see players starting to look tired since we literally just saw this same squad hit a wall last March and grind to a halt. Hopefully it's something they've learned from, and can push on another level this year and get it done.

Also 3 games ago in La Liga Real Madrid were 7 points ahead of Barcelona

    Barcelona are now top.

It can change very very quickly so there's no way I'd be getting carried away yet

I will be absolutely sickened if we don’t win the league this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,414 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

We’d all be sickened, but there’s such a long way to go that anything can happen. We have tricky fixtures coming in the next 2/3 games, where we are most likely going to drop points. But then Arsenal has Forrest, UTD, Chelsea and away to Everton once we City out of the way. So, they’ll drop points in there too. If we can get 4 points from Villa and City, that would be huge.

tonight is the make or break game IMO

Barca haven't lost a game since before Christmas. They've been scoring goals for fun including beating Real 5-2 away from home as well as putting 13 past Valencia over two games, 5 past Benfica and Betis. I don't think it's fair to suggest Arsenal are in the same boat.

On tonight’s game, I wonder what Slot will try with his approach? A few others and I on here, have mention how teams are now just packing the middle against us, pressing us higher, and slowing down our out ball, blocking the passing lanes and disrupting our build up play from the back, it’s really effecting how Gravenberch can dictate things in particular. They also spoke about it on The Walk On podcast, one of the guys was at both the Everton and Wolves games, and he said it was really evident at the games how we were struggling to move around the centre midfield blocks from both teams, and players were looking around at each other looking at little lost.

I think the main reasons are, teams know we have little treat out wide when coming out with the ball, Robbo doesn’t really offer anything going forward anymore, and Trent’s is either cutting in, or just directly passing from the back, he doesn’t go forward and offer any width to our play. I’d really love to see if Bradley can make a difference if he gets a start, he at least will carry the ball into open space on the wing and look to get to the by lines.

    ….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,414 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

There's such a long way top go, and both ourselves and Arsenal have a difficult run of fixtures coming up, that's there's no way a tricky away game at Villa Park is a make or break game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,875 ✭✭✭✭8-10

In the 3-game period I mentioned, Barcelona had 2 home games and won each of them 1-0, once from a penalty and in the other game while having an xG of less than 1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,968 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

If we manage 3 points tonight I won't be saying that's the title wrapped up, it be nice all right but still a long way to go.

There's very little light for them. Even with four or five signings in the summer that team isn't anywhere close to the top 4. With PSR that doesn't even look possible. Talk of moving on Casemiro seems fanciful, who'd take his wages, could be the same with Rashford, its a major noose for them. Out of Europe for a few seasons won't help either, any talk of winning the Europa league seems deluded.

United lads I know are saying it's a free hit for Amorim this season, no such thing, you can't lose this many games and expect to survive. Even if he limps onto the end of the season the damage is done with Amorim, he loses two games together next year and there'll be a clamour to get rid because of what is happening now. So that's next season fucked too

    It's great to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,875 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Good to see them stick by their team though and not see them all say "I've just fallen out of love for football recently" or "it's getting too commercial now and all about the money"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,414 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

The problem with the free hit theory is, if he limps along and UTD still don't resemble anything close to how he likes his team to set up and play by the end of the season. Regardless of what happens with in's and out's this summer, there will be huge pressure on him to have UTD in decent shape on the field come August, and any slight hiccup will be over analysed and double the attention he gets now will be drawn onto him.

Its going to be a very long 3 months, a lot is going to happen between now and then.

I dont think we are equipped for this, and I mean the supporters, not the players!!

Any win with any scoreline please. Own goal off someone's arse would be fine.
