A decent Chainsaw

I'm looking to get a decent chainsaw, one that would cut 6 to 8 diameter inch branches into logs. My preference is for a battery type , anyone got any suggestions for type etc or where to get.

I got a Black and Decker mains powered one from a shop here in Dublin, wasn't cutting more than a 5" diameter wet log and I got around 25min of cutting time out of it before it started spitting sparks. So don't get a B&D anyway unless you're specifically looking for a waste of a good cardboard box.

Battery chainsaws are a waste of time followed by corded ones.

Get a decent light weight chainsaw like an Oleo Mac 16 inch bar 2 stroke. Around the €220 mark. It's small and light. A good brand. Similar to Echo. Will hold it's value also if you ever wanted to sell on.

Lidl and the likes have decent priced ones every now and again the problem is they are very heavy and Theresa nothing work then a heavy weighted chainsaw or hedge trimmer.

It's a great job, I use it regularly on a farm and cut must of my winter fire wood with it. I also have a larger petrol saw, but rarely use it unless there is a large tree brought down in a storm.

That link doesn't seem to, sorry just put up the first link I came across for it. I have the hedge trimmer, strimmer and a second battery too, it wasn't a cheap package.

I have a Makita corded electric one, it's fine for domestic stuff. The main limitation these days is runtime - it wouldn't be practical to use them all day commercially.

Electric chainsaws are particularly suited for occasional domestic use as they can be kept in the house without stinking the place out or causing a fire hazard, and it works just the same as the last time you picked it up regardless of how long it's been stored.

I have a 40V Echo Battery Operated chainsaw. https://www.echotools.ie/products/dcs-310 Very good for occasional use (i.e. yearly cutting down of overgrown trees.). It would be considered top of the 'amateur' or 'diy' range of tools. The battery can be used on my Echo Strimmer as well (in fact the battery costs as much as the tool). If you do decide to go down the battery use then consider getting a single battery to do multiple tools.
