It really wasn't though. Dalot was waaaay to deep and refused to step up on his side to pressure the ball. Christ, for their goal he was 3 yards behind the next deepest player when the ball came across.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I think a big problem with the United squad is that we are generally quite slow/week. So individually the players may not be bad, but in the aggregate our inability to compete physically with the opposition in terms of hard running and physical duels exposes us massively.

    Yoro has good physical traits.
    Dorgu has excellent physucal traits.

Urgate has amazing work rate and intensity but lacks size.

Zirkzee has size but lacks speed and intensity.

I reckon speed and intensity are going to be, and HAVE to be, key traits of our signings moving forward.

And rightly so. The club is a mess from top to bottom. The regular match going fans or whats left of them are getting screwed with high ticket prices to watch muck in a falling down hovel.

Glazers should have been forced out fully last year.

You could see the press was a mess early Bruno kept looking behind him every time he went wide,.he had words with Mazraoui at one stage after it.

The plan was certainly for him to go wide but he wasnt overly quick about it and whomever was meant to be covering midfield didn't do it well maybe multiple players were meant to do it depending where the ball was.

Zirzkees pressing was a disgrace most of the game in terms of effort until the final 10 minutes for whatever reason.

Whatever the plans are with this press the message is not getting across to the players yet, always looks really bad especially in the first halfs

I don't get the amount of tactics, players and formation talk.

The club is on a slippery slope-do people not see this?

what do you think we are not seeing?
What do you think the conversation should be?

The club is circling the drain.

Nobody here can do anything directly about players, formations or tactics.

They can however make their feelings known on the ownership situation in a number of ways that may have a direct impact on the future of the club.

I really don't think people are comprehending the seriousness of the situation.

I think we have as much chance of impacting the formation as we do the ownership.

The only reason the glazers looked to sell in any form was cause the finances are fooked. they never, ever cared about any protest.

I don't see how me posting on here I want the glazers to sell up is going to have any impact.

You don't seem to care too much, looking at that statement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,937 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

    LOL.

Where are your big rants and calls to action then? What have you done to prove you care?

I've not spent a penny on United or exercised too much on them or indeed supported them in any serious way since those leeches took over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,937 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Cool, you clearly care more than me so. Fair enough. I've always been quite blassie about the ownership of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,590 ✭✭✭✭kippy

I assume that last line is somewhat of a windup.

How can you be blasse about the ownership when the actions of the ownership are so directly responsible for the shitshow around the club.

It worked for me. Not enough people did it at the time obviously but now things are at breaking point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,211 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

It worked for you? Did the Glazers step down just for you but stay in control for everybody else?

I haven't spent a penny on United in years. I'd like to say I was protesting, but really I just don't ever wear replica tops.

I think this is a major problem with our players. We look a very slow and weak team who always seem to get physically bullied by most of the team we come up against. We dont have the duracell bunnies most other teams have. It will be interesting to see what players he would like to bring in from Sporting in the summer. Players to inject pace and energy a must

Another match, another meltdown. The type of performance today shouldn't be cause for a meltdown, these are the types of games that were to be entirely expected when we didn't address our inability to score goals this summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,937 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Quenda seems heavily linked - would provide a lot of pace and workrate (and ability) at WB - but he will only be 18.

Gyokeres is another obvious link, but I think he will cost too much. 70m +200k a week? big money when we have so much else to do. Plus he will have plenty of other suites. Arsenal, Chelslea, Liverpool would be in for him i think.

Inacio will be linked given our (seeming) obvious need to LCB. I don't think he is quick enough.

Its up to the manager to get the best out of the current crop of players at his disposal. This 3-4-3 does not suit these players so he should have changing it. If he is planning for 3-4-3 wait till the summer until he gets the players he wants in and wait till the summer to implement the system. This is my biggest problem with Amorim, he's not adapting to the current squad whatsoever and seems to stubborn to change the system. If he keeps playing this system he won't be at the club too much longer, the players are allready throwing him under the bus. Is there any top club in the world that play three at the back at home. I wouldn't think so. Might work in Portugal, won't work with the intensity of the premier league.

Need to concentrate on Europa and Fa Cup now to secure europeen football and forget about the league and just stay up which is going to happen. I have little faith in players like Ugarte, De Ligt, Dalot, Hojlund, Casemeiro, Mount, Zirkezee bringing us anywhere near top six even next season.

You are wasting your breath. People are as wedded to the idea that 343 doesn't/can't work in the PL as Amorim is to making it work. I'm sure all the YouTubers and Sky experts are telling people it can't work, it's never worked etc while ignoring Contes whole management career, Tuchel at Chelsea, Alonso at Leverkusen, Inzagi at Inter just as the most obvious examples. 343, 433, 442, doesn't **** matter a jot when Onana can't push a shot beyond the width of his posts, Zirkzee won't press and Bruno can't make a 10 yard pass

A pity Moyes is off the market to stable the ship. Give it Giggsy would be the only real option now

Should have kept Ruud until the end of the season.

Nothing…think we'd be in the same position as we are now if Ruud was still in charge. He hasn't done anything either to show he has the credentials to be a top manager

In the first half, watching the coach joystick the players and then in the second him not watching was scary. He looks broken down already, the team looks like it has no idea what to do out of possession.

In possession the lack of quality is a problem and worse now Amad is out as he was the only one forcing goals with his sheer desire.

Brining a sub on at 90 mins was bizarre.

The team simply has to keep clean sheets in most games. I can understand his preferred system not getting loads of goals and looking fluid in attack but without the ball it should be much better. 6 (I think) of the 8 games lost in the league were by at least 2 goals.

We have failed to score in 40% of PL games this season... Playing 3 or 4 at the back is a long way down the list of the many problems. Do people not think that we would have had to play Dalot at LB in a back 4. Would 4 at the back turn Zirkzee into a striker, or make Hojlund score. Would it make the most creative player in the world, create something.

It's going to be a very long end to the season.

depends on how it was treated.

If you had agreed a deal with Amorim, you still could have been targetting players for his style while playing something more familiar to the current players and possibly having a more confident bunch of players.

On the other had you wouldn't have Amorim's direct assessment of the players so you would possibly have had a delay there - but at the same time i don't think we needed an assessment to know Casemiro, Eriksen, Lindelof, Evans would need to be replaced and that Shaw, Mount can't be relied upon. Hojlund maybe more of a question mark though, maybe.

My big gripe is that we got Amorim in with 2 months to the January window and we on;y signed one player to bring him towards his style. I get the first choice 10 or CM or ST we want may not be available, but not every signign we make has to be or can be a first choice player - there will be other signings - were they not possible? Hackney at Boro would be my example. I think he could be an excellent squad player - his style of play would fit near perfect beside Ugarte. Is he going to be the CM signing to push us up a level (or 7) no. But he would be (imo) a great squad player going forward - and would have made (imo) a big impact on our quality, options and depth this season. Could he have been signed?

We currently have one 10 in the squad that we trust. Well, NOW we have 0. Yes we need a first choice in the summer, but we also need depth. Could Nypan have been that player? He was clearly available (and chose not to leave). We seeminly made no move at all.

Basically - if we weren;t going to accelerate the reset of United this season, why did we give up on this season by changing manager, forcing a chance in formation and style, but only buying one player to even start an adjustment.

To be fair though, I reckon everyone hoped that they could solve the Rashford issues and he'd have been contributing and doing well for us, as well as Amorim getting more out of Hojlund - those two playing and doing 'well', along with maybe Mount? We look a much better side, imo. So i reckon things are a lot worse than was hoped cause of those three elements.
