Not yet, but i called into from WTS in Kylemore in Dublin to get a quotation, 150 euro for rear glass . I wanted a slight tint all around but they told me the front windows (all the windows actually) is at the legal level so its not possible to tint the front..well it is but it would be illegal.

Stupid question, but has anyone who got their car recently received their log book yet? I presumed once i taxed the car, the log book would follow in the post, but its been 2 weeks now and still no sign of it

I changed a lot book from spsv to private and it took 3 weeks. I called a friend in there and they said they are at least 14 days behind. She was able to pull it and check it slant least I know it was there and not lost.

    TLDR.
they have a major backlog at present.

Model Y order holders, some of you expect a call soon. From the book. Heading to Baldonnell yesterday.

Collected my M3 this afternoon, I love it!!! It really has that nice heavy feel that I like in a car and the drive was very quiet. Very rainy and cold and dark out in Baldonnell this evening so it was a very low key collection - as in "hi, welcome, driving licence please, it's parked over there, enjoy and good luck"… I need to give it a closer once over in the morning. Mine was only charged to 19%, and was at 8% by the time I got home (taking the long route obvs) so maybe plan to visit a charger if you have any kind of a drive home…

The collection lot was full and they have more held in off site storage too, so hopefully there will be a lot of happy new Tesla drivers over the next week or two. All the best to those of you collecting over the next few days.

Collection experience is the "norm". If you know what to expect you can see it is a relatively efficient process. Main thing is that you are enjoying your new toy and learning its features. Best of luck with it all

do they set the car up for you at all on your phone or whatever etc?

and show you the basics of driving it etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,061 ✭✭✭JOL1

They will assist and be helpful if you have any queries but not any routine explanations…unless you ask.

Nope - you find your car, look it over, can mess around with the settings, seat, mirrors etc then you accept it via app. That releases the car to drive and into your app and off you go. You’re directed to the guides on the app / screen if you need more help but it’s pretty straightforward.
I kinda liked being left alone to get on with things and the check-in guy said he was available in case of issues or questions. No sense of rush or pressure - there were various other parties collecting around the same time - some of them seemed to be there forever, some were more jump in and go like me!

It was an easy hassle free experience. After the long lead time part of me kinda wanted a sunny day, big cheesy salesperson welcome, a big bow on the gleaming bonnet and a light show though😂

    sounds very romantic

even for the day that’s in it, Tesla won’t hold your hand ♥️ :)

My latest"estimated" delivery date has now disappeared from the app. It was 13th Feb → 28th Feb. Does me what I think it does :-(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 655 ✭✭✭Moreilly

I think that's usually a good sign, delivery is close 🙂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 614 ✭✭✭djsim101

Oh really, cool thanks man. Thought I was in for another wait...

when I rang and asked about my est. delivery date disappearing, the bloke said it’s a good sign and means the delivery team have the car and will sort a delivery soon once them complete the final checks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 614 ✭✭✭djsim101

Rather than just removing the date from the app ,they should really say something like the above. Small improvements here and there would make the waiting room a better experience imo 😁

They shouldn't out the date in the app in the first place. Its what gives tesla the bad name with regards to deliveries, or at least doesn't help. Look at the EV3, people promised in January, then when January comes, they get told March, but no widespread commotion as it was never pinned in stone in the app.

They should just give the delivery window that's available at ordering and if its earlier, its a bonus!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Paul MCM

yes agree lads, I’m picking up today and my delivery date was originally estimated in February.
However, they did themselves no favours by changing it first to December 24, they a two week window in January which then would get pushed out by two weeks every time I got close to the middle of the window.
they have just left it as February all along.

The other factor here is most buyers of a delayed EV3 or whatever may have a trade in deal. If your new car is delayed, you just keep driving your old car for a few more weeks. No big fuss, cost to change unlikely to be affected. No such luck with Tesla.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,952 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

It depends. Those trade in deals may be re-evaluated depending on what it is. And depending on how long alternate actually arrives.

Just wondering, did they ring/get in touch when it was available, or did you notice you could schedule collection in the app?

also was 3-4 days time from scheduling the earliest you could get? or just the earliest you were available yourself?

I had 13th-28th Feb (which is now gone from the app)
Just handier for me get it before this Friday rather than next week.

When I rang them to ask they scheduled the delivery on the phone call. The app updated with the delivery slot instantly. They gave me the choice of any day this week between 1 - 5 so I took today at 1. Give them a call and see what they say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,934 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Yes, I’m sure that happens too. Generally though when a car is due to land in January and is delayed until say March, they usually stand over the deal. Most will have a bit of fat built in to cover such an issue when it happens. From memory I think the Tesla trade in offer was 30 days and it was like the wheel of fortune when resubmitted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 614 ✭✭✭djsim101

Or select date way out, then bring it back when the car arrives sooner. That way they will look great :-)

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,952 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

That's what happens now. You get the way out date but they adjust and mess around with it. Just leave it at the way out date of ordering.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,952 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

30 days alright, sometimes goes up, sometimes goes down!

BYD were the same, 30 day limit back in January 2024. XPeng don't even want trade ins! I'd say nowadays, all garages are the same unless they are retailing the trade in themselves, there's no way they will honour a price a couple of k more than what the trade is paying them.

With the pick up date approaching, I was wondering.. What checks are you going to be doing / completed on collection day?

I did see a excel sheet with 100 or so check items. I thought that was a bit excessive, but then again, this is the first time picking up a new car. The worst thing I did was join a few reddit threads with people reporting "niggly" issues to glass just smashing out of the blue..

Any pointers would be great :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Paul MCM

I picked up today and just checked the paint work, windows, doors, boot, trunk and charger point opened and closed. I didn’t want to ruin the experience by checking every square inch of it but that’s just me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,121 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Don't overthink it is the best advice.

Go around the car like you're inspecting a rental car before driving away, the usual stuff.

Make sure the cables are in the trunk/frunk.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,952 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

And don’t forget the when you get home you can check it through. You have 160km I think and a day or 2 to report any collection faults.

What cables are included with the car?

I see the mobile connector mentioned on the website for €200.

If you have a tethered home charger, will there be a need for additional cables?
